How would they know? SOLDIER was disbanded and destroyed. Furthermore, SOLDIER had performed equal if not greater crimes towards the Purge.

There's no logical reason for anyone except Freelance to have a problem with the Purge. They're literally working for the government to fight a threat that makes terrorism look like a sunday stroll. The Purge is currently part of the American Military, a specialized individual branch that exterminates vamps.

I mean, the Director totally has reasons to go after the Purge. So do the agents, they were presumably wronged by the Purge during the Night Wars. But the Purge aren't doing anything particularly evil, or worth rebelling against. They're literally making everyone safer.

It still makes little sense to be able to hijack those major channels. You would actually have to own all of them, which would be nigh impossible even with the funds of a supercorporation. And even if you did, it would probably be seen as a terrorist threat rather than anything else. I mean, think for a moment. Imagine if someone illegally hijacked all major channels and broadcasted two dead police officers, bragged about how he had killed them, and then commanded you to rise up against your government?

I respect the attempt at drama, but I'd rather remain close to realism. Although Eric might be able to save your asses with his psychic powers.

You do realize the Paladins don't have a face, right? It's not a dude in power armour, it's a large robot with a brain interred somewhere into it's chassis. It's effectively a bunch of electro-motors and a human brain, surrounded by 20 cm of armour. The tank comparison wasn't just a passing remark, they are quite literally walking tanks, except with better maneuverability and reflexes. Their brain is in their chest, behind the deepest layer of armour. They have a helmet, but it doesn't actually contain anything. it's just there to be pretty.

Regardless, I think it's fairly silly that you'd be able to shoot one in the non-existent head and kill it, considering these things have tank armour. With a high-powered rifle you might be able to hurt them, even disable limbs if you manage to hit a chink in the armour. But there's no logical way you could insta-kill them with anything less than a tank cannon.

And need I even comment about stabbing one with a knife? Or the fact that you somehow have access to every single tv station in the world?

I'm thinking Kami's probably going to try and capture the Freelance agents, and then use them to gain information on Freelance. Assuming they don't manage to get out somehow, that is.
Eh, it's possible Grey may just disappear. I hope he doesn't, but he's expressed his displeasure over the thread repeatedly.
the paladins charged after the jeep, iron legs propelling them forward at high speed. Both raised their shields, most of the bullets bounding harmlessly off the walls of heavy armour plating. Eric manages to get a few good shots in, but he realized he's effectively facing two running tanks. Nothing smaller than an anti-tank rifle, or potentially a rocket launcher, would stop these guys. And even then it would be heard to find a 'necessary' part, as all the main processing is done in an area smaller than a football. The up side, of course, was that the Paladins were out of range for their massive blades. And although they were fast, the Jeep was faster.

From the ground, Kami lined up his shot. They were moving fast, but he could predict their movements. He saw through the eyes of the Paladins, taking everything into account as he adjusted the barrel. His massive Reaper Cannon was primed and ready to take down the jeep, and he made some small adjustments to account for wind. He had a lock.

In this moment, he could have blown a hole in Allison. It was the most logical option. He would eliminate the driver, and the explosion would destroy the controls. The shrapnel might kill of wound several others among them, making the job of mopping them up so much easier. But a tiny voice in the back of his head told him not to. He could feel it, this strange desire to face them. It was a piercing desire, a remnant of who he had once been. Ten years ago, he would have killed them now. Efficiency had been his greatest concern. But now, he could no longer deprive himself.

A heavy shell struck the back of the jeep, the explosion ripping through the wheels. However, not a single piece of shrapnel seemed to hit the passengers, even as the Vehicle was forced to stop. A shot carefully placed to avoid any casualties. However, such mercies were short lived when those present were faced with the two steel goliaths rapidly bearing down on them, and no cover in sight besides the wreck of the jeep. If they did not gain reinforcements soon, they would certainly be taken captive.
@Wraithblade6
Shut up ^^

You of all people should realize how stupidly huge and complex HCL lore got, especially with the reboot.

It's too many, when you can no longer properly keep track of an play them, or when you're no longer interested in an individual character's fate.
Makes sense. In any case, I posted for Kami & co. I reccomend that anyone who isn't on the Purge's side either gets the hell outta dodge, or writes their testament.

Oh, and feel free to state you started running before the Paladins broke through the wall. Those things are incredibly loud.
At the site of the original battle, a large helicopter troop carrier emblazoned with the logo of the Purge landed. Kami stepped forth first, his movements like those of a predator. No energy was wasted, no movement without purpose. It was a sure sign of an elite warrior, and those with experience could tell in a single glance that this was a seasoned veteran of many battles, although none knew how many. The legendary vampire slayer stepped forward. In one hand he brandished one of his custom-made Katana, in the other a hand cannon that made the Desert Eagle feel incompetent.

Of course, he had brought backup. The Paladins, elite warriors from the Purge army. When a high-ranking Purge warrior was wounded beyond repair, they were interred into these giant mech suits, their feeble human forms discarded for a body of armoured steel. Their brains and nervous systems were directly linked to the suit, allowing for them to manipulate it with the same ease of a flesh and blood body, with far more force behind it. Their armour was like that of a tank, reinforced with specialized alloys. Their blades were large and heavy, each weighing almost a ton. The blade was equipped with a diamond edge, capable of shearing through steel with ease. Their shields are 20 cm of armoured steel, reinforced with diamond fibers and tubing to absorb kinetic impacts. Both Saint Comfort and Saint Everett had arrived, two Paladins who had supposedly lost their lives in the Night Wars, only to be revived in service of the Purge.

Kami examined the area, both Paladins flanking him and spreading out. There was no need to stick together, their readings clearly showed that there were no enemies within the area. They also knew that there was a struggle nearby, Kami had a tracker on Ved. They would soon intervene, although Kami paused for a moment beside the corpse of Utah.

[He died recently, take him to base. Freeze him. Let the docs sort him out. We might be able to extract some information from his brain, if we can recover it.] Moving on without further thought, Kami advanced towards the Diner. Two Crusaders dragged the corpse to the helicopter, where it would be cryogenically frozen within a pod.

[/The enemy is ahead, sir. We're ready to engage./] The paladin's voice was deep and rumbling, and without emotion. They had sacrificed their humanity for the cause, and served even beyond death. Such petty things as human compassion and mercy had long been purged from their minds, leaving room only for loyalty and faith.

[Proceed.]

Each step like the roll of thunder, the two massive war machines charged forward. They broke through the walls of the diner, stone collapsing around them, brandishing their massive weapons. Within an instant the tides were turned, as the two goliaths descended upon North and Eric, seeking to eliminate them.

Behind them marched Kami, observing from a distance. It was clear the odds were in his favour, and there was no need to intervene. Not so long ago, he would have ruthlessly slaughtered the enemy. But his old nature was resurfacing. He would watch them fight, and he would grant them a chance, a sliver of hope. Should they fail, then their deaths would be justified by their weakness. After all, it was the fate of the weak to fall before the strong.
