@AbandonedIntel Mostly I was just looking for feedback. It doesn't hurt to ask, since usually the worst that can happen is that they say no. I mean, I suppose they could say a lot worse things, but this is the Interwebs! Nobody is that big of a jerkface, right? ;)

@lovely complex It's not that she particularly dislikes mind readers per say, it's just that right now she doesn't want people to know how absolutely filthy her mind is. Or just how much she likes her powers. Or what's in the suitcase. 

As for your proposition, in terms of her loyalties Minako could easily go either way. On the one hand, she's more or less a good person, and she is very rigid about adhering to her code of honour, which could make her a good candidate for a hero. On the other hand, her fascination with her powers (which have inherent moral issues) and the fact that she does have her father's drive means that she could just as easily be a shoe-in for a terrifying and seductive villain (seriously, imagine if she did a total sensory shutdown. You'd be trapped inside your own body, not even able to tell if you were alive or dead, or if you had been that way for a second or fifty years. You'd go completely insane. If I could get away with it, she could even mess with peoples powers, since in order to use them you have to be able to sense what you're using them on). Whichever school she gets put into would certainly have an influence on that. 

So, here's my answer. I could leave her placement up to you and work from there, and reserve the right to change her personal loyalties based on how the story goes. Or I can just flip a coin, and reserve the right to change her personal loyalties based on how the story goes. 

And yes, she'll be a new transfer, but she's smart, so unless I'll actually have to do the tests myself, it won't be a problem. 

As for the face claim, the image was titled Eri Tokunaga. I literally just did a google image search for "japanese teenage girl" and picked one I liked. Fun fact, if you do that for a basic google search, it pulls up a LOT of porn. Who knew?

Minako’s eyes are a dark purple, which glow when her power is active. She also has a variant of a triskelion tattooed in silver and black on her left shoulder. She has a large bite scar on her left arm from when she was little.
For clothes she tends towards t-shirts, skirts and boots. She is also usually seen wearing a wireless headset, and always wears an amethyst pendant around her neck (the exception is when she is training, where it is safely tucked into a pouch at her waist).

Minako comes from a wealthy, but very rigid household. For this reason, she supresses a lot of her desires, for fear of dishonouring her family. She gets nervous around people she doesn’t know very well, particularly since she is so far from her family. She is also very fond of her little sister and often sends letters back home to her. She is fascinated by her powers, which tend to tie in a great deal to her more perverse interests. 

Her family life and martial arts training has instilled in her a very simple code: one’s word is their bond. As such, Minako takes promises very seriously and gets very angry when one is broken. She believes that everyone has to have a code of some kind; without one, they will not be able to make their life meaningful. 

She is very unsure and a little frightened of her sexuality, particularly in regards to how her parents might react. This, along with her more… personal interests, is another reason why she is so nervous around people she doesn’t know. She is also extremely interested in developing her powers; some might say a little too much.

Minako’s primary power is that she can take control of other people’s sensory perception, allowing her to amplify, reduce, or outright turn off their senses. This ranges from the traditional five senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, smell), to lesser known senses such as balance, temperature, pain, kinesthetic and time.

Additionally, she can also induce a trance in other people, making them extremely and willfully compliant to her commands.

Both of Minako’s abilities are based on eye contact. Her primary power requires only a brief moment of close eye contact, and the connection is signified by a jolt running through both herself and her target. Once the connection is made, she must consciously maintain it, or it will wear off and she must make eye contact again. While she could technically apply her power to multiple people, this places great stress on her mind. 

Her trance ability requires extended and unbroken eye contact; at least thirty seconds to bring a single person under her full control. Additionally, it is not complete mind control, more like a hypnotic trance. If she were to give a command that the target finds particularly anathema, their revulsion will disrupt her control and potentially allow them to break free.

| History |
Devon Slater is a wealthy American shipping magnate and the current CEO of Ikeda Global Shipping, based in Kobe, Japan. He is a man of exceptional determination and discipline, and the sort who tended to get his way. A shrewd businessman with a global network of contacts, he orchestrated the acquisition between Dollahan International by Ikeda, moving to Japan to ensure a smooth transition. After marrying into the Ikeda family, who had been the majority shareholders for generations, he eventually rose through the ranks to CEO of the company. 

As the eldest daughter, Minako is heir to her family’s fortune and the company. Born into wealth, she was fully expected to take over from her father, and as such grew up learning about the ins and outs of the industry. If there was any concern over the fact that Devon and Yukiko did not have a son, they were rapidly squashed; as far as Devon was concerned, there was no one more suitable to inherit the family’s legacy then his eldest, regardless of their gender.

Devon is also a strong believer in the idea that a person should be able to defend themselves. As a result, Minako was enrolled in a martial arts school from a very young age. With a goal in mind, Minako proved that she could be just as strong-willed as her father, and became very proficient. 

As Minako grew into her teens, her sensei noticed a strange and reoccurring pattern. While Minako had always been one of his top students, other students who had once been able to fight evenly with her began to have an unusually hard time. Some even swore that her eyes, already one of her most striking traits inherited from her father, would glow in battle. This led to the instructor to make the unprecedented decision to test his pupil himself. It was equally unprecedented for a martial arts instructor, with decades of practice and military experience, to wind up flat on his back because he could no longer tell which way was up. 

Consequently, he recommended to her parents that Minako be enrolled in Mayweather Academy, to both ensure that she learned how to control her abilities and to use them responsibly. Seeing no issue, and thinking that her powers might make her an even more formidable businesswoman, Devon agreed, and Minako was enrolled as soon as she graduated high school.
