Thanks guys, but don't be disappointed if I fail to pull this off as effective as I want. I will try my best though.

I am 100% open to ideas, no need to hold back!

Yeah, this forest is a 'perpetually wet, cold autumn'. When I was growing up we'd walk about ~25 minutes into the woods, it was all downhill until you get to the bottom where a creek ran through it. There was a log there that 'dammed' the creek up and we used to make little stick fishing rods and fish in there. There were snakes that we had problems with, we found the top-half of bobcats, some fresh fox skin, a number of animal tracks, spotted and heard deers down there... it was one of my favorite places to go as a kid, so I'm drawing some inspiration from that.

Working on an OOC. If it ain't up today, I will finish it tomorrow. Arrow comes on tonight so what are you gonna do?

The town will be mostly human-based, but I will allow fantasy races to an extent (no half-dragon, half-demons, centaurs, minotaur type of folk). Humans, dwarves and elves are a certainty. Faeries? Mmm... I'd need to see the character sheet first, but don't get hopeful. Demonism can play a part in this roleplay, especially since the demonic/cult/ritualistic type of stuff will fit into this setting, but characters being half-demons themselves I would have see a bio first. I don't know what the hell what lupians, vukpians, or felinians are, and Google is going slow cause of a background download. Thing is, if your character looks something like a monster and might cause people to go crazy and try to kill you, it's probably not going to be allowed; the fact you have demonic powers that enhance your being might be okay. We'll work with each other.

Magic will be allowed, but you won't be seeing great wizards levitating and hurling countless fireballs at people. It will be more subtle, more spell-based, mysterious, and have a 'dark side' to it.

Some stuff I have thought about:
-A werewolf storyline?
-Bloodhaven: a Castle where an ancient vampire lived; now this vampire will be reminiscent of Count Dracula and I will use his original description as a sort of inspiration.
-Undead? But more traditional, I gotta look into that some more, try to find some old 1800's/1900's stuff on it.
-Orcs? Goblins? Trolls? Taking notes from Tolkien on that - I'm not going the same pathway where they're an accepted culture. The orcs will be deformed savages with an insatiable thirst for blood and vengeance.
-Serial killers in the woods?
-Urban legend type stuff? Bigfoot type of stuff. Time to research.
-Some serious mystery going down in town and storytelling. It's not gonna be all action, I want to have some chilled back moments you know? Maybe we can just gather around and talk character-to-character and discuss backstories.

Give me some ideas fellows!
I'll see what I can do after work!

The setting is going to be dark and gloomy, yes. If you've ever seen some Arya+Hound episodes from Game of Thrones Season 4, or the Free Folk episodes, or the beginning of Lord of the Rings 1, or anything like that then you know what I am aiming for.
Good to hear. I want to wait until we got about 6 players (me included) so I know we got a good roster. But this roleplay will be free and open-ended so anyone can jump in or leave at any point in the roleplay, no problem.
That name is withstanding, but I like it so far cause it sets the tone for the roleplay.

Returning to a typical roleplay standard, the Faintly Gallows will revolve around an inn called 'The Faintly Gallows'. The inn is located within a small town surrounded by a thick wooded area that I'm just gonna call 'Darkwood' for now. There are a few main roads in Darkwood, some safer than others, and by getting off-trail you're basically signing your own death warrant. There may be a few outlying villages, lumber mills, and cabins spaced out in some more-desirable locations, but most of the important stuff will take place in and around the town where the inn is located.

Characters will be more on the vague or subtle side of things. You know, like convicts, hunters, trackers, explorers, mercenaries, rogues, assassins, or something like that; there are no majestic knights or noble figures - and if there are then they're probably exiled or retired.

So anyway, a number of stories will take place here. Some action, some mystery, some drama, maybe a bit of romance, and we'll do it in mini-stories that may or may not branch out into other stories. Most of us will be regular patrons at the Faintly Gallows, where we will meet, gather, and talk or set out to adventure. There's no telling what you'll find out in Darkwood, so feel free to explore and make up your own destiny in this small region.

The first story, however, will deal with the arrival of a warrior, his young companion, and the group of supernatural beings who have been following them and the threat that they pose. Your role in that story is up to you - you don't necessarily have to take part in it but it is encouraged.

Here are some tags you can read over and get an idea of where I am going with this:
Dark, gloomy, grimy, dirty, underworld, muddy, rainy, chilly, nightmarish, harrowing, darkness, night, gritty, mysterious, strange, supernatural, roguish.
I had this idea in my head and I really liked it, but it still needs a lot of work and I'm looking for some collaboration.

Each of you are a Watcher: an individual who has been whisked away into an alternate world by some mysterious means. Each Watcher is assigned a Proxy, which is pretty much a young child no older than 14. This world you are in is known as the Alt-World for the time being, and it's exactly similar to the previous world except it has had no human interaction.

Now, the Proxy is your lifeline - as in, if they die then the Watcher dies as well. On the other hand, the Proxy will continue to live if the Watcher dies, but become Savages - cannibalistic children who hide in the mountains and forests throughout the Alt-World. The Proxy gives the Watcher its strength, endurance, willpower, etc - everything you need to survive in this world; they have absolutely no memory before your arrival and do not even know their own name. However, the longer the Watcher stays around the time the more they begin to remember, and they begin to develop strengths and weaknesses, a personality, etc. They can provide useful information on the world, can guide you, interact with specific locations, and much more.

The goal is to find a way back into your other world, but you'll also be investigating the nature of the Proxies, the purpose of the Watchers, what the Alt-World is, and much more. I intend to have a lot of vague references as to who the Proxies are and how you came to this world.

But the canvas is pretty blank and I am open for collaboration. I already know what the Alt-World is, I already know what the Proxies are, and I already know what the Watchers purpose is, so I don't need much help on that. Just... throw out some ideas.
Work still needs to be done on it, so it's still on hold. I'm actually working on several more ideas, and whichever one comes to fruition first will probably be the one I choose.
