It'll start out like some sort of group adventuring RP, but it will move onto a sort of free-roam thing where you guys can go on quests at your own leisure.
Alright cool. I'm not sure when I can write an OOC, as I work for the next five days. But if I do manage to find free-time, I'll write it up.
Technological era is medieval fantasy, but magic isn't as flashy as what you'd see in something like The Elder Scrolls. It's not exactly common, you won't find much in the way of magical colleges or academies, and most magic users typically live alone, away from the prejudice of the common folk. That's to say it is shunned, as some guilds or organizations may use it (paladins, assassins, etc). You should remember though, even Gandalf used a sword. This isn't to say magic is limited nor restricted, it is simply showing you what a caster's social standing may be. It's a dark fantasy, sort of in the same vein as Dungeons & Dragons. The type of characters I like to think of: Mercenaries: Skilled warriors who sell their services to the highest bidder. Knights: Noble warriors who serve, or once served the kings of the land. Hunters: Men and women excellent at tracking down and killing/trapping creatures for food and supplies Assassins: Hired killers with an affinity at subterfuge and espionage. Mages: Spellcasters who tend to live alone and away from the populace. Clerics: Spellcasters who use their magical abilities for the good of the people, such as healing them. Those aren't classes, as I will allow the character to be who they want, but those are the types that come to mind. I don't want to go to flashy just yet; no vampires/werewolf characters, for example.
Was the test to bold the title?
This is an interest check for Shadewoode. After some 'complications' left me to abandon the original RP without notice, I'd like to return to it but start fresh. If you were part of the previous RP, then I apologize for my sudden absence. Shadewoode is a dark and ancient forest ripe with legends, folklore, myths, and supernatural tales. All who have ventured within have perished and never returned. This roleplay chronicles a party of adventurers hired on to venture into and investigate the bleak forest. The eventual goal will be to establish a settlement there, which will serve as a stopping point for travelers who wish to venture within Shadewoode. This settlement will serve as a base of operations from which you will embark on many quests. Mercenaries, hunters, and apostates welcome!
Thanks, I'll check them out.
Thanks Corsair, I'll give it a look-over and see what's up. I figured they'd have an official site or something, you know?
Sorry guys, but this is really the only place I know to post it. I'm sure I can find some here, but anyhow: I'm seeking a forum dedicated to D&D roleplaying, if possible. And by dedicated I mean the entire purpose of that site is for D&D, uses the D&D system(s), rules, lore, characters, setting, events, etc. I'm new to it all, but I'm looking into it and might try it out. From what I understand everything relies on the d20, plus the modifiers affected by stats, skills, abilities, and gear and such. What do you think about D&D yourselves?
Hey guys, I am currently working on my own setting. It's been 2 years in the making, but it's never been quite materialized. I have a setting, story, events, and characters, but I'd like to include otheradditions as well. Right now we have only a few locations (Friesland, Asgeir. Icelands, Darkwald, Eastmarch) and the only real races and characters are human (however, this isa fantasy world and I would like to include other races too). If you're interested in some of the ideas, read the hidden section below. If you'd like to suggest something, post it here and we'll discuss it.
Anyone ever play HeroScape? I had thought of bringing a similar, more simplified version of it here.
