"Can't wait for the next Call of Duty!"
The thing I hate most are the very young, inexperienced characters. How can a 14 year old girl, with a 'small body build' wielding a large sword hope to defeat my 30 year old warrior who uses a classic shield and sword? I don't know... this happens more often than not, but more in the past. It really irks me. I think they get these ideas from anime and manga or whatever those things are.
Indeed, I've put a lot of effort and thought to into it. There's a series of stories running through my head that I've yet to write down, and the world just keeps expanding everyday.

I've always wanted to world-build with other players who similarly create regions, histories, races, and cultures and then role play in said world once we're finished.
A place that appears in almost every bio of mine is Asgeir, a northern realm home to a race of men known as the Varan, which all of my fantasy characters end up being. While not nearly as popular here, there is another site I go on where Asgeir and Varan are common terms there. Everyone knows what Asgeir is, and everyone knows what a Varan is; the Varan have contributed to so many happenings in those role plays, they became engrained into the community. Knowing people paid attention and acknowledge the consistency makes me feel great.

Asgeir is a cold region, with chilly Springs and Summers, snowy Falls, and terrible wintry weather during the Winter. The natives here are known as Varan, tall and stout warrior-folk who value honor and tradition.

The capital is Stormhold, a great walled city which has never been breached by enemy forces. At the center of Stormhold is the Storm Tower, an ancient construct now used as a fortress. The King is protected by a special security force known as the Stormguard, regarded as some of the most notable swordsmen in the north.

East of here, in the plains, is a town known as Joria, where the hero Joric was born, and where he founded the famous Jorian Riders. Joric was a great hero who rallied Varan refugees against the onslaught of foreign nations. Under his leadership, the Jorian Riders drove the invaders from the east and reclaimed that region of Asgeir.

There are old noble families who live throughout Asgeir, such as the Valgard, the Vinar, and the Jojorans. The Valgard, however, are my prime family. From Lyza and Tarro, to Toren and Volrun, and up to Toric, Lily, Gyda, and Valius - the Valgard clan, colloquially known as the 'House of the Wolf', are by far my most developed and beloved family in the entire setting. They are special, naturally-gifted swordsmen who are destined for greatness.

Asgeir once had a large army known as the Grand Varan Warband, composed of veteran warriors and the Jorian Riders. However, the Warband has since been disbanded, as the upkeep was to much. The land is now protected by a covert order known as the Keepers, led by the Warden, and are skilled spies, saboteurs, warriors, archers, assassins, informants, scholars, and more.

An off-shoot of the Varan is the Skogg, who live near Asgeir along a strip of land that extends northwest into the sea, almost like a peninsula. The Skogg are stronger, faster, and deadlier than the Varan, but are barbaric tribal-folk who keep to themselves. They are brutal savages the Varan tend to leave alone. The Skogg are a race, who live in Skoggsland, and are ruled by a Skogg ('King').

EDIT: Over the years, I've incorporated Norse, Germanic, Gallic, Celtic, Irish, and Saxon elements into the setting. They've change a lot over the years. They use to be near-Viking clones until I added more things in.

I also want to mention the Ki'gar, an extremely important part of Varan culture. Ki'gars are garments with the clan sigil, name, motto, and colors on them. Many Varan use them as scarves or cloaks against the Asgeir weather. They're sewn from a special material that makes them fireproof and more resilient than other garments. It is common for the Varan to stitch on runes, symbols, and badges to detail what they've done and accomplished. By looking at a Ki'gar one can determine where they're from, what family they hail from, and can see if they're seasoned veterans, what there occupation is, ranks held, and more. They're sacred, and a fallen Varan's Ki'gar is collected and returned to his or her family. They're so sacred, that a traveling Varan will go out of his or her way to personally take a Ki'gar from a non-Varan and return it to Asgeir, even to the point of killing the person if they refuse to give it up.
Thanks. Let's hope others see this too, heh.

Cause if this doesn't come out of anything, then I'll look into my GTA-inspired RP.
Been watching Toy Story lately... don't ask. Anyway, I was thinking of role playing in a Toy Story universe. I'm sure it's been done before, but I ain't searching for anything because I don't want my idea to be poisoned by other ideas, if that makes sense.

Anyway, the role play takes place in the Toy Story universe, but it won't take place in the Tri-County area, nor will it concern any of the major Toy Story characters. And I will not let anyone play as duplicates of those characters (no Buzz's, no Woody's, no Jessie's, etc). This is f or obvious reasons.

Since I'm pretty sure we're all grown-ups here, we'll take things a little darker than the movies (they were dark anyway, what with the Holocaust mess and such). You're either an old or new toy for our Kid. Unfortunately, a terrible tragedy strikes that forces the Toys to embark on a long and treacherous journey to find Toy Haven (name pending) where Toys can live in peace for eternity.

The role play may continue on from there if it is popular enough, and would concern things within Toy Haven.
I've never been the bad guy in a RP until recently, and I must say I am enjoying it.

My character has, thus far, conspired to use dynamite to block off the exit (so the allies cannot escape), poisoned the food they will soon feast on to demoralize/fatigue their troops, and made dozens of backdeals that - when the time comes - will demolish the player-alliances. And no one knows it's me.

Life is good.
I see people sometimes explain every movement. I also see people explain it in short, but descriptive-enough ways. The two knights fought viciously, bashing and thrusting at one another as sparks lit the air air around them.
Getting rather tense. (RP like Battle of Thermopylae, and one of us is a traitor. It's not me... but I'm considering blocking our only exit off so the player-characters and their armies are forced to fight to death. I would make a good traitor).
Name: Koda Verrill Age/Gender: 35 year old Vessex male Appearance: Vessex stands 6'5 and is built like a warrior. He has shoulder-length, dark brown hair and a rough stubble, with an average skin tone and dark blue eyes. Armor/Clothing: Koda wears Vessex armor. It is a dark, polished, silver (Vessex Steel), complete with a dark purple cloak. Weapons: Koda carries a dark, polished silver longsword as well as a dark, polished, silver tower shield (both forged from Vessex Steel). The shield bears the Vessex crest of a purple dragon. Other Items: Other Info: Koda is a former knight-commander who served under the liege of King Rael, but betrayed him and joined the Alliance in an effort to overthrow the cruel and corrupt king. Koda was joined by a small force of other former Vessex soldiers. Background: Koda was born into a noble family and so received training from a young age. He was destined to become a knight, and a knight he did become. For a few years he squired on conquests all across Ventora, but his most renown achievements came as a full-fledged Knight, personally conquering dozens of other kingdoms in the name of Vessex. When Rael came to power, Koda faithfully served him, but grew increasingly offended by his reign. Koda finally left Vessex and betrayed King Rael, joining the Alliance and plotting to overthrow him. Kingdom: Koda and his men hail from the Kingdom of Vessex itself. Vessex is cradled in the northeast and its rocky landscape has helped keep invaders out for centuries. In the few fertile grasslands that sit in the far-east of the region, a few towns and cities can be found. Vessex Castle is the main focus of its military might, sitting on the end of Raknor Fields - which serves as its only entrance. For decades the Vessex people have annexed kingdom after kingdom, deploying their powerful Vessex Knights to wreak havoc on the battlefield. When King Rael came into power five years ago, it brought about an age of corruption, prompting many to question his rule. The Storming of Vessex may very well see the end of Vessex as a whole country. Command: Koda commands a force of 50 Vessex Knights and 25 Vessex Archers. Vessex knights wear the same Vessex armor as Koda does; these heavily-armored swordsmen are capable, well-trained warriors. These Vessex Knights are without horses, and so act as sword-and-shield infantry. On foot these heavily-armored swordsmen are better suited to defensive positions. Vessex Archers are also knights, but have been transitioned into a permanent archery unit. They are well-trained, disciplined soldiers who rain hell from above. They are lightly armored and carry bows, quivers, and arrows, as well as a short-sword for close-combat.
