You guys ought to definitely try something similar.
I'm just gonna leave this here till later.

EXPOSED

This superhero role play takes place in the modern day, starting in the year 2016. A number of individuals in this world have been Exposed, allowing them to unlock extraordinary powers. The vast majority of these superhumans have no idea they can harness such abilities, and those who do generally keep it to themselves. Anyone who has ever shown exceptional skill, and who could possibly be Exposed, has disappeared - having been kidnapped by a covert research group known as the Society.

No one is sure where the Exposure comes from. Perhaps it is some natural mutation in our genetics, or maybe it radiates from the earth, or perhaps it is power emanating from the far reaches of space. Some Exposed have more Exposure than others. It affects everyone differently, and so anyone can have almost any power imaginable. Vague myths exist about 'superhumans', but not many people believe they exist. Only secret groups like the Society know the truth - though they don't know everything.

Recently, the Society has come across someone with an unusually high amount of 'Exposure', making them the most powerful superhuman on the planet. This person is known to the Society as Subject 66. Unfortunately for them, Subject 66 has vanished - presumably kidnapped by another covert organization.

In order to retrieve Subject 66, the Society has 'reached out' to a select number of individuals who they believe to be Exposed. These people will be pushed to their limits to unlock their powers, forming a task force capable of securing Subject 66. But once these superhumans show themselves to the world, their lives - and the lives of everyone else - will change forever.

[h]Rules[/h3]
Rules are subject to change.
1. No character may be completely invincible. Similarly, no character must be God-like, though I do not want to discourage you from selecting your powers and abilities.
2. If player-vs-player combat is to occur, it should take place in turns, and it should be mediated between both players. If their is a disagreement, my word is final.
3. You are NOT required to be Exposed. Your character may use special gadgets and technology to match the powers of the Exposed, or can be average vigilantes.
4. Characters with powers were either unaware of their talents, or hid them. No one can begin as a full-fledged superhero, though a 'low-scale' vigilante career is allowed.

Characters

Subject 66 - A mysterious individual with extraordinary powers. Perhaps the most powerful superhuman their is. Abducted by the Society, though their whereabouts are currently unknown.

I was busy, and I'm usually always busy, but I will see if I can get the OOC up this week.
Great. I'll try to get an OOC up this weekend.
This is an(other) idea I'd like to put up. There are some people in the modern world who have the potential to unlock extraordinary abilities; we call these people 'Exposed'. Very few people know about their abilities, and those who do have hidden it from the public eye (some of them may have performed vigilante work). Anyone who shows extraordinary talent openly usually disappears days later; where they are taken, no one knows.

Well I guess I can tell you. They're taken to special facilities where they are studied, and it typically doesn't end well (to unlock these powers, most people have to undergo intense stress, but it could be different for anyone). An extremely powerful individual, known as Subject 66, seems to have more 'Exposure' than any other Exposed ever encountered by these scientists. Unfortunately for them, 66 has vanished - presumably kidnapped by a rival organization. Now, these scientists have searched the globe for more Exposed and openly recruited them - offering to teach them how to further hone their abilities. Their plan is to quickly train a task force of Exposed to find and extract 66. After that... well, that's where the real story begins.

Before anyone says anything, 66 is very powerful; if push comes to shove, 66 will not fall easily - if at all.

What causes the Exposure?
No one knows, and that's the way it's gonna be for a while. Could be anything - a genetic mutation, magical spirits, alien minerals, who knows? No one, that's who.

Do I have to be Exposed?
No. If you want to play a normal person, that's fine. If you want to play someone who uses gadgets and armor, that's fine. Up to you.
This is going to be the story of Aleks the Great, a hunter from a place called Ruthia. It will be about how he became a great warrior and a great leader for the Ruthians. If you are Mongolian, I am not trying to be mean please; your ancestors were cool too, and I will make a cool character for you also, but right now they will influence the bad guys.

Chapter I: Aleks Musters Some Men
The story starts at this little inn located somewhere in a dark forest. It's made of wood, probably what you would imagine a Medieval Russian inn would look like, but this isn't Russia. Anyway, there's some mean looking guys in here, with thick fur coats; they look like the kind of guys who would carry axes around for protection and to cut down trees if they needed to for some reason. But these dudes are just farmers, and they come all the way to this inn because their wives are usually looking for them and those women are to scared to come in to these dark woods (bears might maul them, that's one reason the men probably carry axes). They can come here to get drunk and have fun after a hard day's work at their farm.

The door slowly opens and out main character walks in. His name is Aleks. He's like these other guys, real mean looking with a long black beard, rough facial features, and that kind of stuff. He looks like a stereotypical Russian warrior, like Medieval Vladimir Putin. No one notices him at first, and he walks over to the bar. "Hey bartender, I need some beer," he says casually, cause he drinks a lot of beer and talks to a lot of bartenders.

"Okay, here's you some beer," the bartender says, passing him a full mug of alcohol. Our hero flips the man a coin for payment and then chugs the beer down pretty quickly. He slams the mug hard on the wooden surface and burps very loudly. This burp gets the attention of everybody, cause it is pretty loud and burping that loud means you're probably pretty manly and so that's why everyone looks.

Aleks starts to talk. "I just now saw some horse archers," these horse archers are like the Mongols, but they're not like Mongols, "and they killed some kids, so they're evil. We should kill them!" The mean Russian-looking people slam their fists down and get fired up, but they're not Russians they are Ruthians. "Get your axes," these guys probably do have axes, so that's why Aleks says that, "and get on your horses, and we will go kill the horse archers. I know where they're at."

All of the men get up and pull their axes out of their coats. Some are bloody cause they killed bears on their way to the inn, or sappy cause they killed trees on their way here. They follow Aleks outside and get on their horses. These are farm horses, but they're well-conditioned cause the Ruthians are big brute men and so they have to be able to carry them.

The posse follows Aleks quickly through the woods and finally they all go to this little road. "Come on, they're over here," Aleks commands them, and they listen, cause he's not wearing generic stuff like they are, and they know he's the real deal. Some smoke is seen and Mongolian-like laughter can be heard and so Aleks and his men creep along the trail until they are within range.

The horse archers look like Mongols, but they're not Mongols. They have Mongol-looking armor and weapons, and they're eating some stolen food and pushing some Ruthian women around.

"Kill them all, no mercy, except for the women, because they are Ruthians," Aleks commands, clearing up any confusion. In the heat of battle you probably can't tell whose man or woman, so he needs to say this.

The mounted Ruthians charge from their hiding spot near the trail and straight to the horse archers. The horse archers see them and try to get on their horses but many are cut down when the Ruthians hit them with bloody and sappy axes. "Take that you horse archer man," they yell. They then say "these are Ruthian women, not horse archer women".

This one guy rides past a sack of bread. "And this is my bread," he says. He's probably telling the truth, cause this farmer is a bread maker and he makes some good bread and this fine looking bread is probably his. His name is Gordo, and he is good at cooking, and he will be Aleks' cook for now on.

Oh no, one guy gets up on his horse and gets his bow, and they're good at being horse archers. Fortunately, one of the farmer-Ruthhians goes "hunh" and throws his axe at the horse archer, killing him instantly.

Aleks himself slams his axe so hard on a man's head it splits the helmet and cracks his skull. "That's what I call a good kill," he says.

It looks likes all the horse archers are dead, so the Ruthians regroup and see that they suffered no casualties cause they snuck up so good. "Let's cut off their heads," Aleks said, "not because we are barbarians, but because we need proof that we killed horse archers," this is true because how else will the noble in chapter 2 know they killed these guys? So the lop off the heads of these men and put them in sacks and also put the women on their horses and they ride to town. It is important that do not ride by their inn, because the women might tell their wives the location, but bears would eat them anyway, which is also a bad thing. Aleks picks up a really beautiful women.

"Thank you," she says, "they were about to do bad things to us, but you guys got here just in time." She's going to be a main character starting in chapter 2.

The posse rides to town, like I said, and they will meet a noble who will appear in chapter 2, and he is pretty major at the beginning of my story. So right now our main characters are Aleks, his cook Gordo, the woman that Aleks just saved, and the noble in chapter 2, and probably the axe-thrower.

Comments post below! Chapter 2 maybe tomorrow.
I also like darker themes, by the way. My character will probably DM things akin to some dark fantasy elements.
I would be down for this. I would be playing some sort of serious character, cause I can't do humor, but I would not care if somebody else wanted to be a humorous character.

I like the idea that the world will kind of build itself as we continue to RP. Each time someone becomes a DM and puts the party in a new scenario, they will probably introduce some new information and lore, which can kind of fit in together later down the road.

I'd just like to know what the 'stats' are and how you plan on handling them.
I was thinking about a historical-fiction epic revolving around a cast of characters as they traverse through Medieval Europe and beyond. But your character has to be somewhat ancestral to you. If you know your ancestors well, that's cool, but I'm basically suggesting a similar surname and cultural background.

For example, I have Irish in me, and possibly Danish. So my character might be an Irish warrior with the last name 'Byrum' (my last name) who may also be half Dane. I'd be restricted to using historical Irish weapons and attire, probably have to be Christian, and probably in a low social standing.

Your character just has to be a fictional imagining of who one of your ancestors may have be; have fun with it!

So I'm interested to know who you guys would end playing as.
This RP will take place in the American West, sometime after the American Civil War. It starts in Bowman's Ridge, a remote gold rush town. A local bounty hunter has captured a gang leader worth a lot of money (as long as they're alive), but that bounty hunter was injured pretty badly and now seeks respite at Bowman's Ridge. He suggests a posse be formed that can continue transporting his prisoner to the city, where he can be tried; the hefty bounty on his head will be equally split among the posse.

Here's the catch: one of you is part of that prisoner's gang, who just happened to be at Bowman's Ridge at the time, but your identity will remain a secret. Your goal is to free your gang leader, so you decide to join this posse and wait for the right time to strike. You can't free him outright cause the others will gun you down, so you need to kill everyone discreetly first.

As you might expect, there's going to be some problems along the way. The Gang Member has access to some deadly items, like poison, and can venture out at night to set up traps to injure or even kill other players in a way that the others won't suspect it is one of them. However, at ANY time any player can shoot whoever they want to. Doing this will result in a Shootout Event; During a Shootout Event, we will perceive time more slowly, and everyone takes turns during this moment, in which you may shoot 1 bullet per turn to kill whoever you want; sounds confusing? I will explain it more in-depth if it ever happens, cause I doubt it will.

Now, during the journey I want to encourage dialogue between players. Your bio will not include any history of personality, so I want you guys to talk to each other on the trip, slowly revealing more and more about your person with each passing day (don't reveal your whole backstory on the first day). You will all be unknown to each other at first, but will begin to learn about one another through the course of the RP. But remember, somebody might be lying!
