-Central City-

"Nice to meet you, Tora; I'm Juana. Juana Perez," Juana said, beaming at Tora. Tora would notice that Juana, while speaking, shifted around a lot and yet managed to articulate her dialogue clearly. "I actually do live in Central City, though we moved here from the Unova region a few years ago. "See, my parents run a candy shop in town, and we live in the attic of that building; it's a pretty good business, I mean, I see lots of kids coming in and all that..." Juana noted that she was starting to run off at the mouth.

"Anyway, that's partially the reason why I'm carrying a tool belt. I help my parents out in the shop and I gotta keep my skills up, huh?" Juana gestured towards her belt. "I've actually known Bounsweet here for a while, she's just now decided to accompany me."

Juana folded her arms. "You're joining an organization too, huh? I was kinda torn between the two organizations, but I'm leaning towards Helping Hand. What about you?"

Juana knelt to Growlithe. "Also, um, does Growlithe mind being pet?"

-Central City-Pokémon Center (Exterior)-

"Your Pokémon have been restored to full health. Hope to see you again!"

Juana pressed the button on her Poké Ball, and Bounsweet popped out, rustling its leaves and smiling at her.

"Thanks, Nurse," Juana said, striding out the Pokémon Center. Bounsweet shot a silly look at the grumpy Corphish as Juana passed by it. Corphish fumed and scuttled off towards the river.

"Why don't we take a little walk around town? It'll do us a bit of good, I bet," Juana remarked. Bounsweet concurred with a happy cry.

Bounsweet jumped down and hopped alongside Juana as she made her way through the dusty streets. She greeted people politely, with varying degrees of success. Some kids really liked Bounsweet, thinking it was cute and that it smelled good.

"We really need to run along now, actually," Juana said, jabbing a thumb down the road as a couple of younger girls patted Bounsweet's stem. "As much as I'm sure Bounsweet appreciates the attention."

Bounsweet gave Juana a look that said, No, no, this is fine, I quite enjoy this. We can stay a little longer.

Juana shrugged and folded her arms. "Okay, you can keep stroking Bounsweet for a bit longer. I'll just wait on the curb, 'kay?"

Juana pulled out her cell phone and took a selfie with the happy fruit Pokémon in the background. She texted her parents the photograph and said that her journey was off to a pretty good start.

As it turned out, Slurpuff had gotten a hold of her father's cell phone, which explained why the ensuing response photograph was A. incredibly blurry and B. covered in what appeared to be pink, stringy fluff and meringue.

"Glad to see everything's holding up back home," Juana remarked. She snapped her fingers towards Bounsweet, and the Pokémon bounded back towards her. "Hey, you kids have a good day, 'kay?" Juana said to the girls, before turning back towards the street and continuing her little constitutional.

As Juana walked, she spotted another passing Trainer, a tall, long-haired woman in a black tank with a Growlithe by her side. This was Tora. If we're being completely honest here, Growlithe made Bounsweet a little uncomfortable, it being a Fire-type and Bounsweet being a Grass-type and all, but Juana held an opposite sentiment.

"Bounsweet, look, another Trainer! We're probably not fixing for a battle right out of the gate, but maybe it'd be nice to get to know somebody else walking the Pokémon walk, eh?" Juana remarked, putting her hands on her hips. Luckily, Juana's confidence assuaged Bounsweet's nervousness. Dogs don't eat giant pink mangosteens with faces, do they?

Juana approached Tora and waved. "Hey, that's a pretty cool Pokémon you've got there. Or, well, should I say 'hot,' since it's a Fire-type?" she said with a smirk, knowing full well how absolutely terrible that pun was. "You're a Trainer, right? So am I, though I just started out today. You live around here?"

-Central City, Pokémon Center-

Juana entered the Pokémon Center and pulled out Bounsweet's Poké Ball. "I think you're gonna have to go back in there, just for the treatment," Juana remarked.

Bounsweet looked as if it was shrugging. Juana couldn't tell; fruits don't have shoulders.

Returning Bounsweet to its ball, Juana handed the capsule to the nurse, and sat on one of the couches, twiddling her thumbs. She decided to check out the Pokédex again. There were a few options: check Pokémon statistics, check the index itself... And there was a menu option for the organization index.

Juana considered. She liked the rush of Pokémon battling, and League Prime appealed to that. That being said, taking this journey on with friends, as per the Helping Hand guild's mission statement, would be much more expansive on her worldview. And besides. Isn't everything better with pals?

"I'll think about it later," Juana said with a shrug. She looked out the window and jumped. The Corphish Bounsweet just fought was peering into the windowsill. Juana noticed that the Magical Leaf was still stuck in its carapace, in between its eyes. Corphish was giving Bounsweet the stink eye. Or was it another challenge?

Juana walked up to the window and banged on it once, lightly so that she wouldn't disrupt the Center's other patrons. She gave Corphish a mischievous grin.

Corphish retaliated by thumping the window with one of its pincers.

Juana bopped the window again, prompting Corphish to retaliate once more. This went on, for about twenty three seconds, until an older gentleman barked, "Would you stop that?"

Juana and Corphish stared at the man.

"Oh. Um. Sorry," Juana said, quickly sitting back down and burying her hands in between her legs. She lowered the brim of her cap.

As she waited for Bounsweet, Juana tapped her foot impatiently, looking up and around at the amenities of the Center. She had a passing thought about needing to use the restroom. She leaned back in her seat and peeked at Corphish's window. Corphish had gone, but likely not very far.

Should I be keeping track of TP's and CP's myself as well?
@Dusksongyeah I was kidding. I mean we probably have over 800 Pokémon now including UBs and Alola Forms and I'm probably not going to be able to keep track of that :P

@Silver Fox just one bag. full of. nothing but toothbrushes.
@DusksongAlright. I'd Better start writing those down then...
@DusksongOh, yeah. If there are things that I need to tell Balthazar as per the rules say, I'll tag him there as well.

-Central City-Riverbank-

Welp, that was embarrassing.

Juana learned two things that afternoon. One, what Trainer Points were, and two, that she didn't have enough for one measly capsule.

"Looks like we're going to have to wait on growing our little family, huh, Bounsweet?" Juana asked, playfully tapping the Pokémon's calyx. Bounsweet made a small, high-pitched undulating noise in response.

Juana figured she might as well do a little bit of exploring and see what other Pokémon were out there. She passed by the river; there was a Krabby and a Corphish duking it out, making bubbling sounds as their red claws clanged against each other, Vice Grip against Vice Grip. There were some Psyducks lying on their backs in the river, and a couple of Surskits chasing each other around those Psyducks.

"Real pretty, isn't it?" Juana remarked, sitting down on a grassy hill and watching the Psyduck float by. Just for fun, she decided to see if her Pokédex would register them.

"Hmm..." Juana hummed, taking a photograph of the Psyduck.

"Psyduck. ??? Pokémon. ??? Type," the Pokédex display reported.

"This is pretty fun," Juana said, attempting to catch a Surskit on camera.

"Surskit. ??? Pokémon. ??? Type."

The picture was kind of smudged due to how fast the photographed Surskit was moving, but it was legible enough for the Pokédex to register.

Juana turned around and spotted a Bunnelby warren. She peered into the rabbit hole, and a Bunnelby popped out, staring expectantly at her.

"Oh, hey there," she said, waving.

The Bunnelby quickly retreated into the hole.

Juana sat down again and flipped open her tool belt, pulling out her miniature notebook and a pencil. She spotted two sleeping Yungooses and a surveying Gumshoos in the grass. She found funny that a Ledyba had alighted upon the Gumshoos's head, and yet the Gumshoos did not move from its spot. That annoyed expression on Gumshoos's face did not budge an inch. Even as the Ledyba crawled on its face.

Juana had to really quickly snap a photograph.

"Gumshoos. ??? Pokémon. ??? type," the Pokédex displayed.

The Gumshoos was certainly much too strong for Juana to even consider taking on at this point, but it was fun to watch the way the Ledyba crawled all over the Stakeout Pokémon; the ladybug even crawled up to Gumshoos's nose and honked it a couple of times. And yet Gumshoos remained stoic.

Juana laughed and started to do a really quick drawing of the Ledyba and the Gumshoos. "Alright, don't move, ladybug..." Juana said, sketching quickly the gesture of the bug and its position on the Gumshoos's face.

She was interrupted, however, by an aggressive-sounding chirp coming from Bounsweet. Juana put her sketchpad down and saw that the Corphish that was fighting the Krabby earlier had bested its adversary and was now challenging Bounsweet to a fight. The Corphish and Bounsweet stared each other down.

Juana smirked and jumped up, startling a couple of smaller Pokémon as she did (including a Bunnelby). "You wanna go, craw-daddy?" she said, pointing a finger at Corphish.

She quickly retracted it when the Corphish snapped its pincer at her. "Oops, not at me!" she clarified.

Bounsweet rattled its calyx, turning it like a crank and giving the Corphish a taunting raspberry. Corphish raised its pincers into the air and frothed once more.

"Bounsweet, look out, it's attacking!" Juana warned, as Corphish came at Bounsweet with a Vice Grip.

Corphish grabbed Bounsweet by the calyx, but Bounsweet twisted its calyx around and around in an attempt to shake Corphish off. Corphish maintained its death grip upon Bounsweet's stem, but Bounsweet was having none of that and threw out a host of leaves surrounded by magic. The Magical Leaf attack shot towards Corphish, knocking it off Bounsweet's stem and sending it reeling back.

Bounsweet then bounced up and launched another set of Magical Leaves at Corphish. Corphish blocked with its claw, and countered with a Water Gun to Bounsweet's face. Bounsweet, however, resisted water, and took the Water Gun like it was nobody's business. Bounsweet tackled into Corphish, and sent the crawfish Pokémon scuttling backwards. The Corphish lost its balance and tripped on a rock, which in turn led it to fall backwards into the water.

Bounsweet puffed its cheeks up and huffed, before turning to Juana with a silly smile.

"Well," Juana remarked, "I trust you can handle things on your own?"

Bounsweet frowned and gestured towards itself with its calyx, before pointing to Juana.

The Corphish scuttled back out of the water, sopping wet and quite annoyed.

"Uh, Bounsweet, use Magical Leaf again!" Juana tried.

Bounsweet turned around and shot a leaf at Corphish, catching it in between the eyes. Corphish stared up at the leaf, and its eyes lolled into the back of its head and it fell over.

Bounsweet stood over Corphish in pride and bounded back over to Juana.

"I think that might be enough Pokémon watching for now, Bounsweet," Juana remarked, picking up her Pokémon. "Why don't we get you to a Center? I'm pretty sure there'll be other Trainers there."

@DusksongOkay, thanks! But we can still write wild encounters just for fun?
