Not so sure I agree with this facebook stuff anymore. I'd rather go back to pretending everyone on here wasn't... well, you know what I mean ;)

It's my Birthday. I am drunk, and will get worse as the night draws in. That's... that's all. Now all I need is an option to post all the messy photos :P

I like to write stories, and no genre is beyond me.

Short, sweet and to the point.

Zombie killer units sound ridiculous. The world hasn't gone full cartoon, just because the dead are rising. Most militaries are still employing traditional, albeit slightly modified, tactics against the situation.

Alright, after doing some reading on the United State's military relationship with Japan, I've stumbled upon a lifeline for you.

Seems the U.S has forces in Japan, owing to the whole World War Two thing, but they do not train the Japanese on U.S soil. However, I believe it could be argued that with the country falling apart, the Government would have pulled back everything from foreign bases to combat the rising threat of the dead. It could also be argued that they'd of probably been dealing with the dead in foreign lands, prior to the emergence of the shamblers on home soil.

So with all that in mind, a U.S Naval Task Force sets sail from the Pacific, linking up with other U.S elements on the way, some NATO ones too. With them, they also bring a couple of JSDF destroyers - a symbol of international solidarity, given that the JSDF seldom deploys in foreign lands, as opposed to a full scale commitment.

The Task Force arrives in Africa during the early days, and begins operations in pacifying the mysterious disaster that is felling African states left and right. A few weeks into these, and it is quickly understood that the situation is beyond the Task Force's capabilities. Furthermore, the U.S starts reporting its own disturbances. So, it is ordered back the U.S. The NATO ships go their own way, to deal with problems in their own countries, but only one of the JSDF destroyers leaves - the other staying as a sign of solidarity with the U.S. At this point, no one probably thought the crisis would bring the West to its knees, so what's one destroyer?

The Task Force arrives on the East Coast, and is ordered to reinforce beleaguered bases and units. One such base is Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington. The JSDF destroyer deploys its marines there, along with waves of U.S reinforcements, and places them under local U.S control.

Fast forward to the present day, and Fort Lesley J. McNair has fallen to the shamblers. The UH-60's the survivors see were bugging out of there, and so it would assumed that the remaining JSDF troops tried to make it back to their destroyer - or another designated safe haven. However, their helicopter suffered an onboard outbreak, which resulted in panicked close-quarters firing. The American pilot is accidentally shot, and the helicopter crashes.

The survivors can then come across the crash scene, and hey presto you're in.

Christ, that took some doing. Thoughts?

Hi guys. So ever since I've made a come back a few weeks ago, I somehow managed to join 3 zombie RPs, all in casual. Currently, one of them kinda died before it could even start, and the other two died recently.

Would it be possible for me to import my character here?

Here he is: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/77858-island-in-a-sea-of-death/char#post-2471829

He's one of several versions, and this one should be the most developed.

It all looks good, though my understanding of Japanese traditional culture in modern times is a big fat nil... so I'ma just gonna have to trust you on all of that fluff.

However, in this RP, without ruining too much of the RP's story, the U.S Government is still functional, and the U.S Army is (as has just been seen) still fighting the good fight. Therefore, a U.N presence in the U.S on the grounds of establishing communications wouldn't fit. They're still communicating with the outside world, it's just at the moment things look pretty bleak.

Hmhmhmhmhmhhmhm, how can I fit a member of the JSDF into this? ... That's a tough one, because Japan would be fighting its own crisis, and I doubt they'd be sending away precious soldiers to help someone else. Washington DC also puts the setting thousands of miles away from Japan's seaborne interests.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmm.

Couldn't he just be an American national of Japanese descent? Serving in the National Guard? I could imagine a Japanese family living in America, preserving their traditional roots. Wouldn't be too far beyond the realms of reason, would it?

If not, I'm happy to hear your ideas.

Did not see that coming I will admit. Your a nice guy Tome haha. For a second though while reading i thought they were gonna shoot at Roland. Renegade soldiers xD

I thought about it ;) But no, that'd of been too easy and too unfair. It's not like you can actively prepare yourself against 4 helicopters coming out of no where with orders to shoot everything.
Will get CS up soon cause I have another splendid idea!

Also I have the perfect song for this RP.

Skyrim Symphony by Pogo.

@TomeBinder Crud I just realised I'm making another snarky female character. In an RP of your design. It's the luck of the Irish again!

Nice one. And hey, I have no problem with having lady characters in my RP ;)

@Elvenoff You missed the Party Control bit of you CS. Yay or nay?

4 Blackhawk UH-60 helicopters, belonging to the 12th Aviation Battalion and operating from nearby Fort Lesley J. McNair crest the roofs of the school's surrounding houses. The roar of their engines suggest they're in a hurry, and they pass over the survivors, seemingly indifferent to their peril.

One slows however, and performs a wide arching turn to come back on the school. It quickly descends, and it is clear to any pair of living eyes that the side doors are open, and perched on the platform, are sure-as-day soldiers. They take a few seconds, watching the police car as it races across the green, and assessing the suicidal S.W.A.T as he flees for the school.

They raise their weapons and fire.

But not at the squad car or the S.W.A.T, but at the masses of shamblers surging from the school. Their fire is inaccurate, but nevertheless devastating. Ranks of the dead fall to the waves of hot lead, many of them permanently - they are simply torn to shreds by the sustained automatic fire. Then they quickly switch their focus to the mass of feasting shamblers by the sniper's house. After a minute of ear-ringing gunfire, the soldiers cease their barrage. One of them holds up a loudspeaker, though over the roar of the UH-60's engines, his words are hard to hear.

"SURVI###! FORT LE#### #S ##NE! EASTON I# #T#LL O#E#A#T#I#O#NAL! T## ROA#S ARE A N#-#O! GO TO F##t #AS#INGTO#! WE SAW PLENTY O# BO#TS!"

The soldier is interrupted as one of his comrades pats him on the back, and shouts something in his ear. The soldier looks back a the survivors, shakes his head, and lifts the loud speaker again.

"SORRY, W#SH W# CO#LD H##P YO# FO#KS MO#RE! G#T ## ###TON."

The UH-60's doors are slammed closed, and it rapidly ascends. Scores of shamblers lay motionless upon the grass, though some are crawling towards the car and the lone S.W.A.T with broken limbs. Others, hundreds of them, have no doubt been alerted elsewhere in the locale, but for now the survivors have time.

Might take a bit longer to develop a character, little spare time due to an event at work. Sorry...

That's cool bud. Take as long as you need.
Why is it everyone has to be the fucking hero? I mean like, why is it everyone has to have an 'amazingly unique' back story that makes them heir to something, or fated to do something etc etc. Even in RPs that seem to strive to be realistic it happens again and again and again. RPs are collaborative, that means you shouldn't keep trying to make your character the centre of everything.

The GM needs to get his/her arse in gear, in that case, and stop these critters at the door - or deal with them creatively throughout the RP.

Saying that though, when you say amazingly unique back story, could you pitch us a few examples? Don't go a' namin and a' shamin', just you know, out line an RP where all the characters are the centre of everything. I imagine a cauldron of chaos. You sure it's not just your interpretation of their characters?

Also, I got a bitching comment to make. When you open a packet of something, like sliced ham, and the GOD DAMNED PLASTIC NEVER BLOODY WELL TEARS LIKE IT SHOULD! Instead, the corner rips off, and you have to knife your way into it. What's with that!?
Welcome to the Guild.

If you like zombies, I got this fellah for ya.

If you like Skyrim, I got this guy.

But you'll find a huge and diverse multitude of roleplays here if you're looking for something else. I'd recommend you engage in some of them, to get acquainted with the community, before launching your own roleplays. People who at least recognise your name will be way more likely to give them a look. But that's just a recommendation.

Enjoy your stay, bud.

Hey guys, glad to see everything is going explosively well. I've been busy today, because it's my MOFO'in birthday. Got tomorrow off work though, so I'll murder/spare everyone then.

Hope you lot are having as much fun playing, as I am when reading the posts. Glad the way this is shaping up.
@TomeBinder Thanks! Is it ok for my character to have the Levitate spell then? I realize it has not been canon since Morrowind but I always assumed that was because of engine limitations and not the silly "Levitation Act" excuse they dreamed up.

Haha. HAHAHHAHAHAHA.

When I played Morrowind in my younger years, I was a mage and levitation was one of my key skills. Nothing said "FEAR ME!" like floating above the hapless AI and launching custom nuclear-missile style fireballs at them.

Oh the memories!

Of course Levitation is allowed, however, it is still outlawed. The other agents may not care, but an Imperial patrol might. Use it when you're away from the established authorities.
@Thrashy Accepted. Nice character.
