I think I should write a pithy roleplay about how an expenditure of effort does not entitle you to your perception of an equivalent reward. Anyone know someone who'd be interested?

Okay, let's be honest for a second here, if we stop the status bar from being edgy angst land it really doesn't have anything going for it except sheer autism.

Does anyone know where you can get a white trilby embroidered with threatening messages? Asking for a friend.

Why not everyone? :D

It's not like evil people tend to care that much who they're allies with if they don't have to share loot and have roughly the same goals :p
Slightly evil schmightly evil. :P

Evil's evil!
After having completed her rounds to her other students' living areas, Kyō headed back to the first that she had designated for an initial meeting - Nara, Shiō. The surgeon's training grounds next to her surgery were fairly well kept, but it was fairly easy for Kyō to simply stride in and do whatever she wanted. That was a point that she would need to bring up to the young woman - security was paramount in the dire situation that the village had found itself in. Kyō's being called upon was a sign that the strife was at such a level that it needed to be cut down, swiftly and brutally, and harmony needed to be restored urgently. In some ways, the presence of the Twin Sages was one of rebirth.

Kyō waited for a few minutes before Shiō stepped into the grounds, a few seconds early, and waited. Neither of them spoke a word until six thirty exactly, and then the silence was broken by the mutual call of:

"Hello."

Kyō smiled - her first student was precisely on time and had a sufficient level of respect for social conventions. People who talked out of place and out of time were prone to errant thoughts that could detract from their training - they were poorly equipped to deal with the rigours of a regimented training routine. Kyō would remove these weaknesses from her underlings by any means necessary, using physical force and psychological pressure tactics if it came down to it. There was no excuse for a lack of respect, especially not given the darker climate that had seemed to settle over the village over the prior few days.

"You're on time. Good. You display the proper respect for routine and social convention. Good. As I'm sure you know, my name is Kyō - I am one of the last few Senju, the Bamboo Sage, and I am your new Sensei. Forget everything about whatever assignments you had before, for they are no longer in any state of being meaningful. You're a Medical Ninja, which admittedly is not my specialty, but I will teach you the discipline and fine control necessary to progress in your studies... But first, I must measure how disciplined you currently are. I am going to create nine hundred and ninety nine sticks of bamboo, and then I will throw this stick:" - she gestured to the stick she was holding - " into the pile. You will find this stick for me. Go."

With that, Kyō stomped her right foot into the ground, creating a small forest of upright bamboo around the two of them in order to obscure Shiō's vision of both her and her Ouku no Ne, and then stomped again, cutting them all down while simultaneously throwing her stick into the huge mass that had been created. Each stick was identical in every way, and in truth, there was no easy way to discern between them. There were ways, but they were convoluted and complex. The purpose of the exercise was not necessarily to see if Shiō could find the Ouku no Ne, but to test other factors about her personality. What constituted as passing the test and failing the test were known only to Kyō.
You could also have it be that they still have that angelic potential, but it was sealed away rather than stripped? You can keep yourself slowly increasing in power as the RP progresses then, and it gives you some interesting history/plot points to build on. :D

I can also work with you on that if you want to include someone else, but it's really up to you either way c:
Except for the Neutral Evil Assasin Sage Gorgon.

Overboard? What's that? :D
The serenity of the eventide prior was one that had been untouched by the grisly news of the morning, and it was that serenity that one Senju, Kyo awoke with. Sunlight filtered through her bamboo blinds, dappling spots on her body with their rays, and this gentle push was all it took to awaken her from the peaceful slumber she had surrendered to. She had told herself that she would get up early so she could personally greet all of her new students - she preferred to be direct with them - and lay down the rules that they would live by under her tutelage. After getting up and getting dressed, she receieved the news of why she had been considered for tutelage arrived at her doorstep.

The idea that her tutelage had been called upon was odd. It existed in a strange dissonance between having been valuable enough to be called upon and yet the reasons for which it was called upon were for anything but its wisdom - and that thought was enough to snap Kyo out of the serene calm that she had woken with. Kirugetsu - someone she'd served with - had apparently snapped and killed two of his Genin before destroying all of his worldly possessions and killing himself, after declining a generous gift from Hosuka. Her cousin had asked her to step in to replace Kirugetsu, figuring that she was one of the few strong enough after the war... But that also meant that Iroh would be serving - if she was being considered for her strength, so was he.

"Fuckin' Iroh..." she muttered under her breath, before grabbing her breakfast for the day and getting dressed. It was a matter of ten minutes before she left the house, first stopping at the surgery of one Nara, Shio. With a simple stomp of her right foot, a single shoot of bamboo would grow up in the middle of the surgery, inscribed with the message that Kyo was going to be her new Sensei and that she was going to return in an hour to meet her in person. Kyo hoped that she was an early riser - if she wasn't, this experience would likely be terrifying and quite unpleasant. Even though she didn't know it yet, she was under Kyo's rules - and Kyo did not take kindly to lateness.

The process was repeated with both Kino and Kami, though Kino would be seen by both Kyo and Shio, and Kami by all three. Bamboo was grown where they lived, and inscribed with a message - if they had any wits about them, they'd soon realise just how much bamboo their teacher was going to use. She didn't achieve the title of 'Bamboo Sage' by not using bamboo, after all.
I've decided upon having a Gorgon Sage.
