You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.
Thanks!

The music was lovely, of course, but there was something in it that made Trix want go after this woman. What was she doing? Playing music when these... oh. They were following the sound. Trix looked at the woman perplexed. That shouldn't have happened, no matter how curious the creature. All animals thought with their stomach over most things, or so she assumed. This was unnatural seeming. She looked down at her pups, and they looked as if they were straining to fight against an unseen leash. It looked painful, as they fought to keep their places. She set the food beside her and knelt down to them, trying to provide them comfort, protection, something.

Was the music doing this? Could she stop it? It was unnatu... wait. She had something unnatural as well. Did that mean this music was... magic too? She couldn't worry about that right now, her pups were hurting it seemed. Cooing at them, she pressed her hands to Remilia's ears and focused on trying to protect her from the music. There was a light, lavender hued, soft, pleasant exuding from her hands, and it stuck to the dogs ears. When she pulled her hands away, the light shone bright for just a moment before dissipating, the invisible Shield in place.

"Can you hear me Remilia?" The dog yipped happily, and seemed to be fine now. She repeated the process for Remus, before looking back over as the woman seemed to be leading her own dog, and the bandersnatches, away. Maybe there was an easier way. If she could block out music, could she keep in smell? She picked up the paper holding the meat, holding it in the palms of one hand, and began exuding the light once more, focusing on keeping smell in. With her other hand, she guided the light into a crude bubble around the food, keeping her back between the food and the woman as best she could. Once the bubble seemed complete, the color faded and she set it down on her seat.

She had no idea if it worked or not, for her own dogs wouldn't react to it, and the Bandersnatches were preoccupied. Looking down at the pups, she decided to follow after the woman, and the pups immediately placed themselves between her and the critters, Trix now enjoying the music before, when she'd been resisting.
Kazdar quickly pushed past Vera, panic in his eyes, his breath coming fast. This was not how he wanted to first get into Vera's home, as he'd always had eyes on the pretty young smith. He'd always looked at her from afar, never having the nerve to approach her or her father. Now he feared it might be too late for the both of them. He turned and faced her, "We need to get you out of here, you and your father. The Reckoning is beginning!" His voice was rushed and whispered.

Outside, Captain Iy'kayia nodded to her company of drow and orcs, and they began fanning out through the village. As if she was going to live by her spoken word. Only official documents from the capital mattered here, chuckling to herself, as she looked forward to slicing that dwarf from groin to maw. She was pleased to have not heard a single sound as they all drew their weapons from their well oiled sheathes and holsters. It was little details like that ended up truly mattering in battles. She drew her own scimitars, enjoying their glint under the moonlight. They were thirsty, and so was she.

Captain Landish reentered the Barracks and Depot, seeing the handful of knights already arming themselves and barricading the massive building. He walked down the stairs into the store rooms, barking orders. They had a hidden tunnel installed here that led into the Underdark, as either an escape method or possibly using it to outflank their opponents. But he was not confident in this night. He wasn't prepared.

Kazdar went to open the door for them to escape when a heavy pounding startled him. A gruff, orcish voice barked, "Open up, home inspection." Kazdar looked back at Vera, his face growing pale, in a pale whisper, "Is there another way out? I'll delay as long as I can. Get anything you need and get out!"

The pounding continued, Kazdar, trying to make his voice seem tougher, deeper, "Oy, ah'm lookin for me trousers and am pissed. Hold your fookin horses"

Trix smiled up at the woman, trying to give her some level of comfort. She brushed a few blonde hairs behind her ear, "Of course not. We all know some birds just don't know the rules. Just gotta keep the bird safe until they know better, and hope they stay safe. That's what is most important, right?" She grasped the back of the woman's upturned, injured hand, "And yet you're doing just fine. Much better than I would do in the Frostfell."

She let go of the woman's hand and led her to the benches, sitting down. She listened to the woman speak about the bird as she took her injured hand, to fix it up. She reached into her pack and pulled out her wine skin. "This is going to sting hun. But I need you to keep your hand open." She held her hand over the ground, and poured the red wine over the room, washing the blood away. She examined the wound close, and nodded to herself. "It's not so bad, maybe two stitches tops."

She grabs a clean rag, and begins scrubbing out the red, fleshy interior of the cut. Satisfied that it was clean and nothing was inside. She pulled out one of her seal jars of salve, mostly honey, lavender, and elderberry, and rubbed it into the wound. Hands working quickly, Trix threaded a needle, dipped it in the salve, then pinched the skin next to the wound. She pushed the needle through, across the bloody chasm, and up through the other side, closing it with a medic's knot. She repeated this once more, and slathered the stitches with the salve, and wrapped a bandage around the woman's hand, making sure that it was loose enough to just barely slip to fingers between it and her skin.

She cleaned up, putting away her stuff, "All done. Just go easy on that for a couple tendays and you'll be fine. It won't even scar that bad. Nice thin line." She reached down and rubbed her new pups heads, "How about some bear? I've heard there's a bear rancher out on the back end. I've never had it before." Trix was just hungry by this point and was more than willing to treat Rilana to anywhere, so long as it was soon. And she wanted to try feeding her pups for the first time, like a proper mother.
So it seemed she wasn't going to glean any more from the blade, which had grown too heavy for her arms. Wishful thinking he supposed. He could see the gears turning as the woman considered his offer, but he was fairly confident she'd accept. He'd used this to recruit many of his people, and so far, none had refused. Finally, he heard the sigh, and knew he'd gotten another. She then confirmed this, and he smiled at her question.

He circled around her desk, kicked his blade, so it flipped upwards, which he snatched out of the air and effortlessly sheathed it. "We start now. Leave your work, I'll send a squire to take care of the details with your old job. For now, come with me." The Library was the center piece of the Corcillus Quarter, the largest and most impressive building therein. Each quarter had its own landmark, though none were near as massive as the Citadel, the city's centerpiece. He had seen something earlier in the week, and hadn't yet had a chance to research it. Now was his time to do so, and she could help.

He led her through the Quarter, deciding to fill the idle time by posing a question to the woman, "So how did you discover your," stopping to look around, noting the need to be a bit more discrete, "Insightfullness?"

He continued along as he waited for her response. Around the time she finished, he stopped, looking up at a stone wall. He didn't bother using his Aurism, for he knew what he'd see. Last time he was here, he just happened to be wandering the streets, casting his gaze on everything and saw a wall of magic. He couldn't tell what the magic was doing, it looked as if it were the wall. But with his regular vision, he could make out a few irregularities.

He wondered if she would notice. The stone that made all of the buildings was the same, uniform black and dark grey stone. However, he could see two vertical lines of stone, where the stones were cut short, as if reaching a corner. Then the stones continued across the span til they reached the other vertical line. And the magic only existed between these vertical lines. At the very bottom of the wall was a few words scribbled into a brick.

"To find the way
One must simply ask
So with me you shall play
If you put your mind to the task

The question that you seek
is the first of three parts
It is not for the meek
But use your mind, not your hearts

The first is the beginning of every knight
The second is the end of every squire
And the final is found when myte makes ryte
Ask only once or face the truly dire"

Captain Theren glanced at the sylph with a grin, as he'd figured it out already. But this was for her, to earn her worth. "Thoughts?"
Alright, I'm still sick today, so I'm gonna try and focus on finishing all of the city write-ups. If I do manage to get these all done in a timely fashion, I'll delve back into replies, so I appreciate the patience.

I've also created a Chatzy for Ebonfort found here us20.chatzy.com/15771038533536
This can be great for theorycrafting, rp plotting, questions, etc without flooding public chat. (I do ask you use a name at least similar to your username here)

Thanks yall!
The creature felt the massive weight of its hunter pressing down on it. It tried to scramble, front legs scratching in the grass wildly, but without its pack legs, it gained no traction, no freedom. Both of it maws were screaming in reptilian panic, calling futilely for aid from any of its brethren. Then it felt the powerful jaws grip down at the neck of its left head. It didn't take more than a single shake of the head and a crunch of the jaws to snap the bone and spinal cord therein. The creature slumped to the ground, dead. It was curious. It had two heads, but it seemed if you killed either of them, you killed them both.

A couple of the other squires had seen the action, and soon found themselves staring at the gore covered, injured, absolutely terrifying bear reining supreme. They were looking around for a superior officer, to give them orders. A particularly dumb, bulky human moved forward, blade raised and readied, to take down this new threat. In his mind, if he led the squires to slay this beast, they'd be the saviors of the tournament. And if he led them, he'd surely get his Knighthood. It was the perfect plan.

Until a large orc fist smashed into his face, knocking the useless squire off his feet and out cold. "Don't be stupid," glaring at the rest of them, "Any of you." He was injured, exhausted, but he wasn't going to let glory hounds take down the true hero of this horrid event. This wasn't a situation to be used for personal gain. It was a nightmare that was defeated by a civilian. She made them all look bad, but she deserved it. The orc sheathed his sword and turned toward the bear, knowing that she was injured, likely still in a fury. He kept his distance, and raised his hands, palms out, "The fight is won, friend. We can fix you up. But we need to have peace."

He really hoped she didn't continue the fight. He'd seen many beings, creature, man, and those inbetween go down either path. If she attacked the squires, she'd take a few with her, but once the remaining proper knights got involved, it would be a slaughter. He really didn't wish for that to happen, it would be a total waste and disgrace. He was looking the bear right in the eyes, knowing better than to encroach on her kill. "It is done."

The squire grinned and winced in pain, he liked this woman already. Biting through the pain in his side, he jumped and climbed through the portal, tumbling head over heel. The world he was in was stifling, the air heavy with heat and humidity. There was a stench of smoke and sulfur, and the only wind was moving from this world into the next. He saw a wriggling mass ahead of him, roughly waist high. It took him several moments to figure out exactly what it was he was seeing.

It was the body of the Screamer, with several, smaller versions of the creatures that had come through. Then he realized where this portal was. It was a nest. That was how the Screamer got the creature here. The man didn't summon the creature, he just opened the portal somewhere likely to attract them. Open it in the middle of a nest, something is likely to get curious, or at least defend its territory. These creatures were just more innocents that got caught up in the horrid plans of the Screamers.

Looking all around, he saw nothing else but waste land and volcanic mountains for miles. He saw no other large versions of these creatures. He knew enough about wildlife to know that the odds of these baby creatures of surviving was pretty much zero. It would be a kind mercy to put them down now, so they didn't die slowly of starvation and cannibalism. He still had one kris left, and he pulled it from his booth. He hated that he was about to do this, but it truly seemed to be for the best.
