The exact same thing, practically. Interesting.
Anybody?
Name: Subterra Ultima
Government: Emergency rule; President Jaoko son Seatilburn
Land: Southern Japan, most specifically the ruins of Tokyo
Old nationality: American
Society: American survivors sailed from San Francisco and Seattle to Tokyo, where they met with 5,000 Japanese survivors. 15,000 was just enough to secure Tokyo. Numbering 15,000 (10,000 Americans), they are on the brink. Makeshift markets selling 'Old Tech' have been set up. Culture has taken on some interesting twists:
Naming: Jacob+Lao=Jaoko, 'son' always follows, Seattleborn>Seatilburn
Cuisine: Sushi is inconceivably popular and has been adapted for fast food. Many crafty dishes have been made in underground fish farms and sealed-off hidden agriculture.
Art: This remains the main time-passer in a bleak society, anime is the main format, although a style known as "Watercolor-Anime' Has arisen, combining sharp outlines with blending colors.
Technology: Whatever could be salvaged is now used in military works. Civilian tech is renaissance at best, although a few basic services such as plumbing have remained. However, they have perfected the art of unmaking and have seeker rifles to one-shot fungi-humans.
Industries: Gunmaking, cuisine, and art. A few corporations with solar air-transport can ship items to Korea. Corporations large enough to do this would be the Amerishima Firearms Enterprise, the Derimana Food Corp, and the Hydrolinim Aartists coalitions.
Name: United States of America
Flag:
Government: Democracy
Leader: President James Goodwall
Traits:
Powerful: The USA has probobaly the single greatest military, and has advanced rapidly still. They are becoming more and more barbaric, and believes it is thier right to conquer non-democracies.
Innovative: for the last 150 years, the USA has been leading the advancement in nearly all technological fields. They are known as over-achievers.
Secular: Over the years, the U.S. has become more and more secular, and most now view religion as dangerous.
History: The US has been mostly untouched by the wars, and always seems to come out ahead. They are pioneers in the field of robotics, have conquered genetic disease and cancer, and are super duper star-spangled awesome. Thier new territories include: Cuba, Mexico, Canada (we all knew that would happen), and a variety of small South American autocracies. They plan to cure the disease, then colonize almost all of Asia, Africa, and Russia.

History
0-100 AF
The Odonican isles were at first explored by both Axphrimian and Gulshav Explorers. The Gulshav disliked that there was little room for their cavalry, and decided it ould best be used to send dishonorable chiefs to throw themselves at the Axphirmians. The Axphirmians were highly superior at naval combat, and managed to carve out the most precious lands, middle Oderim (Odon) for themselves. The people of Odon were cultural revolutionaries, and clashed with the traditionalist monarchy. In 63 AF, a coalition of revolutionary thinkers native to the Odonican Isles broke away from the Axphrimian Monarchy. Exiled Gulshav chiefs still ruled the area, but through a long war of naval blockades and eventually cannons they finally conquered the Lower Oderim.
101-200 AF
Odon was beginning to form two governments: a Parliament and a Nobility. Through this century, Parliament gained more and more power while the nobility became rich figureheads. Upper Oderim was taken in 150 AF, and they finally had dominion of Oderim. Odon grew into a sprawling metropolis, home and refuge to high-minded thinkers and revolutionaries.
201-300 AF
The 3rd century after the fall saw the conquering of Isodar, and a major buildup of the Odonican Navy. Isodar would serve as a major naval base. Odonica declared war on various northern islands and looted them, then force them into serfdom. This century oversaw the military buildup of Odonica.
301-325 AF
New styles of clothing have come about, and the province of Revik was founded. New styles include colored togas (The Director's wife now wears a violet toga on state holidays) and the black suitcoat. Pocket watches are now fashionable. Revik is the first mainland continental colony in Odonican history. It is kept going only by threats of extreme naval warfare.
Religion/Customs
They pray for favors from Atem, which is essentially fate. Atem struggles constantly against his comic reflection, Meta. They pray that Atem will choose to shield them from Meta rather than shield their enemies. Their customs include always wearing one clothing article of violet and wearing circlets of the highest quality they can afford. It is a sign of respect to remove your circlet to someone. Men typically dress like Christopher Columbus, but women dress in roman togas. Suitcoats are a new fashion, and woman are beginning to wear colored togas.
Military
One of the first nations in the world to outfit their ships with cannons, they usually with go to the coastline of a warring country, bombard the costal cities, then plunder and make slaves of the residents. This is how they typically get their Rimthiar. They have one of the best navies in the world, thanks to their expert gun-crafters and reinforced ship armor/sails. Rumor has it they will unleash alchemical cannons and muskets that can blow up even bigger things, or put a city in stasis so they can loot it then run away. Unfortunately, they suck majorly at land battles. That is why it took them a century to conquer their own continent from savages.
Technology
They invented the Northern cannon, an upgrade from the old Eastern cannon (of Avtarian design). The eastern cannon worked by putting two cannonballs in and exploding the first one inside of the cannon (coated in expensive kion and Rithmiar), thus propelling the second toward the enemy, where if it hit a certain point on the ball it would explode. The northern cannon worked by putting a singular aerodynamic piece of explosive ammo inside the cannon, closing it, then simultaneously igniting the ammo and pushing it out at 330 kmph. They also invented ship armor and a miniature version of the northern cannon, the Northern musket.
Strengths

Naval Geniuses
Their military academies train only the most top-notch naval commanders. They tend not to conquer anything other than islands, but they gain more than enough bounty by forcing tribal coast cities into serfdom.
Culturally Adaptive
It is part of their constitution not to persecute citizens based on their ideas. As such, they have one of the youngest voting ages (the equivalent of 16 years), a thriving culture, and a large entrepreneurial community.
Weaknesses

Slow to act
They are known to be a somewhat slow-moving government, as with 6 parties and the Director having to not piss more than 50% of Parliament off, domestic acts are usually hard to pass.
Land Losers
They are terrible at conquering and keeping landmasses, especially ones not near a coast. Revik is nearly impossible to maintain, and has survived only because of the threat of naval takeover. Their cannons are of some help, but not much against well trained armies marching toward their mainland outposts.
Name: Raeligo

Government: Every 8 years, a supreme leader is elected and may be impeached by a council of delegates. He must also not violate the constitution, unless it is amended by 3/5 of the council. The leader does not have to approve amendments. The government is very centralized and the state house lies atop a hill in the capital.

Model Civilization: Rome

Military: Entirely defensive. They usually hire out-of-state mercenaries, and consider military service beneath them. Thier lone 'base' on Andazaro is a mercenary hub looked down upon by most worldwide military leaders and societal elites alike.

Culture: They have an extremely rich culture and are home to many intellectuals. This is the area that they are by far the most proud of. Their architecture style is large white stereotypically "Panthenon" columns and styles with hints of violet and gold. Thier art is expressionist and in the theme and style of 'St. George and the dragon'

Wealth: They are traders by nature, and are no strangers to outsiders. Their far spread culture is the greatest contributor to their wealth. Thier major export is paper. Almost all foodstuffs are imported, save thier world famous wines.

Technology: They have a good stock of inventors, and their base of thinkers is strong due to their high culture. They are known for the invention of the Ykrya paper (similar to strengthend papyrus).

History: Founded as part of the original Goethraelian City States, Raeligo sits on an island with an artificial bridge to the mainland. The bridge is the greatest of their engineering marvels. Their proximity to many natural harbors has led to overall prosperity. This 'Golden Age' lastedfor many years, until a tyrant by the name of Goschuev Iridikan overthrew the old council. He and the Iridikian dynasty ruled for a century. His iron fist failed to stifle the island's rich culture, which led to the downfall of Zueldimo Iridikian (now banished to island of Andazaro). Revolutions against the old regime and into the placement of the current government. Their wealth and technology are recovering, as their old tyranny placed many law-enforced superstitions and wasted a good amount of money on unneeded naval fleets. They are a diplomatic nation, and have disbanded most of their military. The current generation sees themselves as 'enlightened' and is very liberalistic by our standards.

Leader: High Senator Aerigim the Regal

Major cities: Their colonies include the islands of Novadine (A flourishing city with a high youth population, but often breaks out in violent protest/riots), Omikida (An ancient city that they have a longstanding truce with, they would later join nations and revolt together against the Iridikians. Of great cultural importance to the Raeligo), and Andazaro (A remote desert colony with various irrigated villas of scientists and elderly, wishing for peace. Also home to their lone naval base). Their capital is the city of Raegix, home to the societal elite.

Geography: Mostly flat islands. They are known as a tourist trap due to their long beaches and seas, until the old regime. Nevertheless, the beauty remains. They also have a plethora of flora and fauna. The capital house rests atop thier pride and joy, Mt. Raevig, thier city's founder. Andazaro is mostly long beaches with rivers and a dangerous inner jungle with various odd fauna, including the famed 'Indigo Fawn'

Religion: Mostly atheistic, they keep a good amount of cultural custom adapted from their colonies. A few such customs are:
•They always a wear a small amount of purple for good luck, and it is considered the color of royalty
•All persons (male and female) wear a gemstone circlet of whatever value they can possibly afford
•They believe that knowledge is the one true path to greatness

Other:
Currency: Jaekin Note

Symbol: A sword entwined is laurels and olive branches

Flag:
Map: (coming soon)

Strengths:
Value in knowledge: the reason that the old regime failed is because they locked up the greatest minds and made farmers out of artists. They may be seen as disproportionate snobs, but they have proven that they will fight for thier expression.
Friendly: they are diplomatic by nature and thier only major war was with themselves. Thier nation is overall well-liked and as the phrase goes: "Any friend of Raeligo is a friend of Goethrael, so you had better be a Raeligo to be our diplomat."

Weaknesses:
Entirely dependent on outside military forces: Obvious implications. If the mercenary scene is seller's market, they are a ripe fruit for the taking.
Not yet stabilized: it has only been 5 years since the war of rising. Many fragments of the old regime remain, along with a mysterious order called "Sewvuk Knights" that is set on reinstating the old regime.

Major factions:

Trial masters: these individuals are responsible for administering the trial of knowledge, which determines a person's societal standing. Here is a list of IQs and thier correlations:
0-90: Slave. Unlike other cultures, slavery is not hereditary by default, but IQ sometimes is.
91-110: Commonfolk. Eligible for the council of delegates, but not High Senator. Usually serve as library attendants, as slaves are not allowed in places of higher learning.
111-120: Artisan. Your average craftsman, given higher learning in the field of his choice.
121-134: Scholar. Well respected member of society. Given access to many institutes of higher learning. Eligible to be Trialmaster.
135+: Aristocrat. As a rule of thumb, this is the class of nearly all High Senators. Are entitled to scholarships for life at any institute of learning.

Guild Union: Nearly all artisans and laborers practice in guilds. They are given seats on various political functions to represent the needs of merchants.

Aestrom University: By far the most prestigious school in Raeligo, and most likely the world. They teach on nearly all subjects. The Universiyy itself is a very large space, four walls form the center with dorms and classes within, bordered by courtyards. There are 4 wings that stretch from the center, where a marvelous stained glass dome is located. On the top of the dome is national crest, set in gold.

Peacekeepers: The police force of Raeligo. Not particularly strong, but viligant. They are not nearly enough to qualify as military, and most are on loan from the Imperium. Punishments are usually in the form of farm labor, as no self-respecting Rarligo describes himself as a farmer (even winemakers go by "Cultivator").

Sewvuk Knights: These are the last vanguard of the old regime. They believe that totalitarianism is the only way, and have tried to free the Iridikians countless times.

Name: Supremi Arkkenruld Aemijisti Rekana-Volon

Race: Artidian (Satyr-Elf)

Appearance:
A Hibrid Artidian, polished black hooves on the legs of satyr with combed, black horse hair. He wears the traditional loose shirt-robe on his fair chest, a perfect white to match his legs. It is a shame Artidians do not produce sexually. His long, pitch black hair flows to his heart's length in perfect lines. Ears pointed at the perfect angle signify his highborn role of leader. His nails are crystal clear, and his eyes blue and piercing. He wears a brown-leather satchel across his shoulder, with a gold button. Other than that, he keeps a cutlass and revolver on his leather and gold-buckle belt. He sports a goatee.

Personality:
Somewhat brash and arrogant, but he makes up for it in experience and noble graces. Years in the artisan aristocracy have thought him well of ruling a city-state, and now he uses it to dominate the courts. He is a boldest strategic military commander, and one of the most intelligent people in his domain at a young age.

Backstory:
Rekana grew up in the city state of Crythim in the noble family. He was trained in the aristocratic arts, including language, science, history, arcana, swordplay, dueling, arithmetic and the performing arts. He blossomed in these intellectual pursuits, and was the leader of the Crythim Enlightenment. He faced his greatest challenge when marauding Itauri (Minotaurs) invaded his city state, killing of his kin. He swore vengeance, and vowed to place the head of the Chieftain that oversaw the execution on a metal pike and freeze it in the arcane for display. He did not kill the chieftain, but he lead the resistance to reclaim Crythim. He revolutionary work saved him the accusation of being too young, but in reality it may be partially true. regardless, he is here now, so Crythim mine as well make the best of it.

Strengths:
Noble Mannerisms–Skilled in flaterry, persuasion, and even deception. He can usually get what he wants from most non-hostiles.
Skilled Dueler–Masterful at dueling with both guns and cutlasses, he has the agility of a panther and the bite of a lion.
Alchemical Artisan–He is good at potion-making, and has constructed one or two bombs. He can tend to flesh wounds and apply good ointments.
Intellegent–He is overall a very astute and knowledgable person, and is easily capable of learning.

Weaknesses
Young–The pressure of ruling and acting as military commander of a city state is very grueling, especially for a young prince.
Arrogant–He is reluctant to listen to advice, preferring to try, test, and note-take regardless of the risk or situation.
Greedy–With Crythim in ruins, gold solves many things. Gold buys happiness. Fuck the jets. What do they know about money?
Micromanager–He likes to control everything in the military, and has a habit of ignoring his generals. Even if he is not an expert, he considers himself one if he read the book.

Fighting Style
Rekana has trained for many years to seamlessly alternate between pistol and cutlass, choosing the better one for the situation. He prefers agility to strength, and uses the immense power in his legs to make unbelievable jumps. He is known to jump constantly, remaining in motion, whenever there is a gunfight. in melee, he likes to jump behind the target to backstab. When dealing with a mage, he uses a jump-hot alchemical bomb of his own design to neutralize most magics. Through it all, he keep his commander's hat on.

Equipment
Jamsnuk Pistol Class XIII–An arcane-crafted wood revolver with gold plating on the trigger and barrel. Serpents are engraved on either side of the barrel, and the arcane wood pours he energy from Rekana's mana reserve to craft the 'bullet'.
Arcanika Cutlass–A gold hilt and handle with golden cords strung around it, and a curved silvered blade. Mana also flows through this weapon, adding potency to the attack.
Lydwev Belt–A brown-leather belt with a gold buckle and dragon embroidery. 3 satchel pockets with coin and other pocket goods are attached, as well as holdings for his pistol and cutlass.
Lydwev Satchel of Alchemical Goods–A brown-leather satchel with a single golden button, decorated with dragon embroidery on the leather and engravings on the button. Various potions and bombs are kept inside the satchel, and can be reached easily.
Teriwev Ribez–A loose, white silky shirt with exactly 13 gold buttons along the side. He keeps the top button undone.
Tricorner Cap–A admiral's hat, exactly three corners made of black leather and a single crimson plume. Few know, but it is actually attached to his head through magic to keep it from falling off in battle.

Enemies:
Singularly, the Itauri clan that killed his family. He is wise enough not to hate much else.

Allies:
The city-state of Crythim. He is too young to make any more.

Magic:
Arcane energies flow through his equipment and person, aiding him in many tasks. He is skill in alchemy, but he does not use very much direct magic other than stable ones implanted by various mages at his command.

Government

Ultim's government is a true democracy. All citizens vote on a Dolori Remire (Trusted citizen) that can enact executive actions as he pleases for 10 years. This extraordinary power is kept in check by the Remirez Egatez Re Codon (Supreme Council of Citizenry Delegates). The council has the ability to impeach the Dolori Remire with a majority vote (The council is composed of 144 delegates and the Dolori Remire, who receives 1 vote.), there are no term limits. If any law is thought to be violating the Jedin Re Remirez (Literal translation is 'Grand Rights of Citizens', it is essentially a constitution and bill of rights mushed together), then the Codon Re Jediste (Supreme Council of Justice) may veto an act if the delegates vote that is violating. The act goes into effect during a delegate vote, but if it reaches the Codon Re Jediste, then the act is stopped until they vote. The Jediste Egate (Justice delegates) number 13 and are elected according to population every 6 years. The Citizens vote on their Egate Re Codon (Supreme Council Delegate) every 3 years. They are also elected per population.

Language: Ultimi and Common/Tradetounge, which share a common writing system.
Population: Population: 4,716,300
Area: 18,210 km2.

On the pedestal of hero
We place the founders that whirled

Thus on this day and age
I say we must combat
Tyrrany and injustice
In Founders name I pray.

Important Characters

Current

Remidion Dolori (Supreme Commander) Redin Jyning: A tall man with the dark hair and fair skin befitting a born Ultimian. Blue eyes glare from his his rather handsome face. He is said to win battles with charm rather than force. In truth, he manages to win some of the most challenging battles through logistics, strategy, and leadership. He is well liked among the upper spheres of Ultim, and seen as a people's hero. He has little drive to be a politician, but if he ran, he would be near unanimously elected. He deals very little with land campaigns, but has oversaw the revolution of naval warfare in Ultim.

Dolori Remire Jaminio Vyromo: The most brilliant man in Ultim. he was raised by intellectuals and attended the best schooling. He speaks 6 languages and has degrees in theorems of all sorts. He also has the approval of his friend and Remidion Dolori Redin Jyning (and thus most of Ultim). Why is he timid about leading the nation of Ultim? He is 25 years old, and was admitted to be Dolori Remire only by a special delegation vote. He leads expertly, but his confidence is low.

Rectarum Re (Supreme Secretary) Lyana Vix: A wise, if somewhat young, woman. She hails from Idona, and keeps the heart of the common folk. Jaminio would be driven mad without her. They work fairly well together, though they generally retreat to their respective wings of the Supreme House. She has midnight black hair and brown-black eyes. She is fairly short, but she commands a sense of authority when she walks into a room.

Founders

Jader Gyrom: The inventor of the naval cannon was an extreme asset to the Righteous Revolution. His company, Daevor Krakid, donated over 1,000 fully armed vessels to the cause. They sailed to the capital of the Nomarian splinter kingdom, on the south shores of the mainland. The kingdom of Lidide and most specifically the autocrat, or Lidinvo Jirod. He blockaded the city for 5 weeks, forcing them to stop sending out troops. Without him, the war would have fallen to the simple brute force of the Kingdom of Yero.

Myditha Jezize: A passionate woman who would charge head on with her generals into battle. She is known to have given the mark on every single cannon shot made in her battles and to rally her troops as supreme commander on the front lines, waving banners of freedom to taunt the enemy. She was brilliant strategist, and knew that the heart of the people lied Idona, and as such set about surrounding it. The inner rebels were inspired, and pushed the military to the outskirts where Jezize ambushed them. This secured the resources that would prove vital in the war.

Ikano Orivio: The only Yeron founder, he felt sympathetic to the cause of Ultim and spied in the capital as well as Rejiste. He gave the revolution access to secret tunnels and open passages as so they could take the city. During the battle, he led a small diversion crew to the point where the Yeron Army was going to ambush. The diversion crew bravely surrendered as POWs, but because the revolutionaries had sunk in through one such tunnel, they avoided painful torture-interrogation. Without Rejiste, millions would have died due to a planned 'purge' of Ultimians.

Ithitha Ryreta: The boldest of the founders, she was a flame of justice. Her parents and older sister were tortured and killed by the Yeron, and she sought bloody revenge. When Ultim rebelled, she volunteered her life for the chance to kill every Yeron who got in the way of Ultim. Leading the charge on Jidon, Ryreta boldly lead the armies herself. When a diversion was needed to keep the army away from the main keep, Ryreta offered herself as a high-value target. Many said she should lead the charge, but she insisted she would be more valuable as a diversion. They finally agreed. She managed to kill 300 Yeron with assorted bombs, acrobatic stunts, and ambush, but she fell to the surging army. Jidon was taken, be so was she. She is the only founder to die in the war, and without her Jidon wad be turned to bloodbath and ruin.

Kaiser Nikkolaus Jäger of Die Vereinigten Konföderierten von Rheinland Gemeinschaft

As a brilliant young revolutionary, Nikkolaus or 'Nikki' was by no means a military man, until the apocalypse. When the Fourth Riech took over Berlin, he retreated to his homeland of Worms to lead the counter revolution, especially on the domestic front. When the war ended, he was made Kaiser of Rheinland. He immediately ordered that Worms be entrenched and the trams reactivated. He also decreed emergency rule, and that political opposition is treasonous.
