Description
Leila has slightly wavy, gently falling dark brown hair that falls down to her mid-back. She almost never ties it up unless she means business, so it normally drapes around her face. Her face itself is an oval shape, with a rounded nose, arching eyebrows, and narrowed eyes. To try and disguise the fact that she is a vampire, she wears contacts to turn her normally red eyes a dark brown, which is the eyes color she had before changing. But her sharp pointy fangs cannot be disguised, so she tries to avoid opening her mouth too wide when talking with humans. She is tall and slender with well-muscled arms and legs, but not enough muscle to make her stand out like some body builder. Though she is not particularly tall, her broad shoulders and the way she carries herself gives her a powerful aura, especially when she is angry. She has three scar that are normally not seen, a slash on her upper right arm, one on her left thigh, and another on her shoulder.

Personality
Her face usually found hidden in the depths of some hood, one could definitely use the word brooding, moody, or aloof to describe her. She tries to get away with as little social interaction as possible, preferring to stay in the background and watch rather than participate. You'll usually find her stalking around, eyes narrowed with suspicion, and when she is like that it is best not to try and initiate conversation unless you know how to tread carefully. Why? There are two possible reactions you can get. The first one is no reaction. She'll simply brush you off and not respond, or else give you a few vague words that won't answer your remark or question at all. But the second reaction will show how angry and fiery she can get, and how sarcastic she can be. She'll lash out and scold you, taking out her anger from that day out on you. Only if you are lucky will you get an answer.

However, apart from Leila's moody attitude, she is still quite useful and is not afraid of hard work. She is able to get things done efficiently without getting distracted, focusing only and solely on the task at hand. She has a good brain, and she uses it.

Background
Childhood
Tears. Empty promises. A new and strange place. The few memories that Leila has from before she was seven are few, and quickly fading. She remembers only a mother, never did a father make his appearance in her upbringing. Still, Leila remembers smiles, laughs, and happy days spent with her mother. But shortly before her seventh birthday, things started going awry. Her mother receded into herself, kept dropping her off Leila for daycare even on the weekends for the entire day. Started acting sadder, moving slower. When Leila's seventh birthday came round, her mother tried to make it happy, but there was a cloud hanging over everything. Leila forgets when exactly, but sometime later that year her mother came into her room to talk. She told Leila that she had something called "cancer", and that she had it bad. Her mother talked about how much she loved Leila, and how she would never forget her. A week later, the two of them stood in front of a closed door. The door to an orphanage. While everything else was unclear, Leila understood one thing. That she was being abandoned. Tears ran down both of their cheeks as mother and daughter said goodbye. Her mothers last parting words were, "I'll come one day and visit you, I promise! Remember that I love you, don't ever forget that."

Weeks passed without a word from her mother, and Leila slowly adjusted. But she never quite stopped peering out the window during lessons, hoping to see a car pulling up or for a special figure to be walking up the drive. Life went on, as it always did. Things got better, but then they got worse once more. When she was ten news came, but it wasn't good news. Her mother had died of cancer. Now older, Leila understood what the dreadful thing called "cancer" was, and she was devastated. Her devastation however, was shown not in tears or in tantrums, but in a lack of tears. A lack of emotion. A lack of smiles. But life went on.

Teen years
Her 13th birthday came around. She was still reserved and would never forget the day the news came, but she functioned. There were times when she would break out laughing at a joke, but there were still times when she would lay in bed at night and cry. Then, the time of first love rolled around when she was 16 and attending a high school. An outgoing boy named Lucas with mussed up hair, striking green eyes, and a humor that rivaled many. After a little while, they spent more and more time together, and Lucas brought one of his friends Liam (though he was 3 years older) to introduce to Leila as well. Leila, Lucas, and Liam became great friends.

At 17, it was time for the two lovers to learn how to drive. Liam, having already gotten his drivers license, was old enough to qualify as a supervisor for the two while they learned. One evening while the sun set, the three of them went out for a practice drive with Lucas at the wheel. Just after the sun had set and it was getting dark, an accident occurred. A driver misjudged the time that it would take to turn left out of a parking complex, and the driver thinking he had enough time, took the turn cautiously and slowly. At the same time, the trio were heading down the highway towards the turning car, and unable to stop in time, collided. It was a messy crash, Leila was brutally wounded and Lucas, he died within a few minutes of the impact before Liam could scramble out of the wreck to help his friends.

That night, a secret was also revealed. What was it? Well, Liam turned out to be, uh, a vampire. He was the only one who had remained conscious, and though he had been wounded as well, his regeneration took care of the more severe wounds. Under the cover of darkness, he examined his comrades. Finding Lucas dead, Liam didn't allow himself to dwell on it and examined Leila instead. After attempting to heal one of her worst wounds, it was clear that he did not have enough power to bring her back to health. One option remained, and the decision was hard for Liam to make. Would he turn her into a vampire like himself, make her immortal so she must live on and on, when perhaps she would have wished to die with Lucas? He had to make the decision himself, and he chose to turn her into a vampire so that she would be able to regenerate and heal the worst wounds. In order to turn her into a creature like himself, Liam had to make her swallow some of his blood, along with a few rushed incantations. The process was soon finished, and though she remained unconscious her body automatically healed most of her wounds. However, she was still taken to the hospital when the ambulance and police arrived, where they was plenty of surprise and wonder at how two people survived with minor wounds when one had been killed on the spot. Luck, they said. It was pure luck.

Once Leila was released from the hospital Liam met up with her and introduced her to The Syndicate, where she learned to control and use her vampire powers.

Adult years
At last, she turned 18 and was now free from adult supervision, no longer needing a guardian. After an invitation, she joined The Syndicate as an agent.

Weapon
She normally keeps around four or even five (depending on the situation and her mood) throwing knives on her that she is pretty proficient with.

Skills
-She keeps a steady head. As seen in her personality, Leila is moody and doesn't hesitate to lash out at others. But if the situation is a serious one, she knows how to stay calm and think things through thoroughly.
-Fitting and blending in. This skill comes in handy a lot, being supernatural. She has learned how to blend into her surroundings and not stand out like a sore thumb, while still keeping alert and watching the area around her.
-Remembrance. Though she does not have a photographic memory, she still has an excellent knack for remembering things... if she feels like it.
-Lip-reading. This is her one quirk, something that she taught herself to do for fun when she was young. So if you don't want her to know what you are saying, remember to cover your mouth.

Powers
-A "Normal" vampire skill set. Things that fall under this category are enhanced senses, reflexes, speed, and self-healing.
-Transformation. This doesn't mean that she can transform into anything she wants, only into a bat. A vampire bat, to be specific. However, while in this form she cannot use any other powers, meaning that her enhanced senses, reflexes, etc are lost.
-Healing abilities. By expending a lot of energy, Leila is able to heal the wounds of other people if she chooses. But there's a catch. She has to drink some of the blood of the person she is about to heal. This forms a kind of temporary connection that she is able to use to heal that person. The person will be healed, but it's not perfect. They will not be back to 100% due to blood loss from the healing process, and Leila herself will be fatigued. Because of this, she is hesitant to use it.
-Wall-climbing. She is able to climb up surfaces that are even perpendicular to the ground without any ropes or equipment. However, she cannot walk upside down.

Sophia is a slim young teenager, but with broad shoulders and wide hips. She has very dark brown eyes that, depending on the light, can sometimes pass off as black. They seem to hold great depth and tend to make people feel uncomfortable if she stares at them for too long. Her hair that reaches down to her mid-back too is a dark brown color, thick and coarse. She prefers to keep it down, but if she is to be doing something more active, will tie it into two low pigtails at the back.

"I know you know the answer. Just say it."
"Do you really not know, or are you just being stubborn?"
"You're just hopeless."
"Just give me an answer, already!"
Those are some of the words that have been spoken to her as the years passed. Her greatest fault is that she finds it extremely hard to talk, extremely hard to force the words she wants to say out of her mouth. It isn't that she doesn't wish to say anything or that she doesn't see the point in saying anything. She just can't talk to others, especially those in her family. Whenever she wants to say something, she will formulate the sentence in her head perfectly, run it over and over in her mind to make sure there are no flaws. But when the time comes to open her mouth, she just can't begin to talk. She hates the way attention is focused on her when people want a response, and she always feels like they are going to judge every word that she speaks. It's like there's a gate blocking the words from coming out, and she hasn't been able to find the key. So the words just go around and around in her head until people give up on her.

There are approximately three groups of people in her mind. People that she has never met before and probably will never meet again form one group. For those people she can usually get some sentences out, comforted by the fact that she may never see them again. The second group are those that she sees on a regular basis, and her mother and father fall into this group. For these people it is the hardest to speak, for they know her well and in her mind will always be judging her. She won't be able to forget what she says to these people. The last group are of those rare people that have managed to get into her comfort zone. Only two people have been able to get into this group, her two sisters. Even with them, however, she still will not say everything to. There must be another group that she can spill her deepest thoughts to, but she has never found anyone that would be able to make it there.

"You're brilliant."
"Yeah, I'm totally going to do that."
Sarcasm is part of more than half of what she says when she speaks. The closer you get to her, the more sarcastic she becomes. Sarcasm has become part of her, and she herself does not totally understand why. Perhaps it is because she does not have to directly say what she thinks, her words can be interpreted as truth by some and by some others, as something she does not mean.

"It's two against one anyway, why don't you just do it?"
"Sophia, you're being unfair. Can't we just do it like this?"
Stubbornness. Another thing she wishes she could overcome. Part of her hates to be ordered around to do things, while the other part loves not having to make and voice her decisions. Most of the time she'll just follow along and do what she is told, but once in a while she stops and won't budge. Normally, it's for the simple things, like when a sister asks her to get down from her bed to sit on the floor so that she isn't sitting above them. She won't get down because she doesn't want to give in. At the same time, part of her wishes that she could just make her legs move so that everything could be over and solved. But it's already too late and she can't make herself give in.

"How about we do it this way?"
As strange as it might seem because of her occasional stubbornness, she's good at helping other people make compromises. She dislikes loud noises and especially hearing people yell and argue. So she'll lend an ear to each opponent, think about it and suggest a different way of doing things. That's the peacekeeper part of her.

"Are you alright? Need help?"
Sophia hates to see others cry or be upset, so if she can summon up the words she'll try and ask them what is wrong. Most of the time she is kind and relatively patient, and this attitude often instills in children a liking towards her. It is easiest for her to solve the troubles and woes of little kids because she finds it easier to talk to them. Maybe it's something about their innocence and youth that she feels she lost when she was ten.

ℍ 𝕚 𝕤 𝕥 𝕠 𝕣 𝕪 :

The morning after experiencing the Awakening, she knew something was not right the moment she looked in the mirror. Her older and younger sisters were the next people to notice as they trooped into the bathroom, leaving her no time to sort out her thoughts. The looks on their faces before they rushed back out were unforgettable, the horror, awe, and uncertainty. If only they would have seen that the same expression was mirrored on Sophia's face. As she remained standing frozen in front of that mirror, voices echoed through the house before all was silent. No part of her moved for a long time, save for the hand that kept tracing that white mark on her face over and over.

About an hour later when they finally came to take her away with their guns in hand, they found her curled up on top of her bed still in her pajamas. When given a few minutes to get dressed and gather a few things to bring, she picked up a black cloak (a present from her older sister), a thick journal and pencil-case, and her knitting bag. Her family came to see her off and say goodbye, but none save her older sister dared to touch her. Then she was led away. She had not uttered a single word that day.

A Scanner Darkly
When she uses her power she is no longer restricted to seeing just what is in front of her or just what is in the area. She is able to see through light and transparent things that normally cannot be seen through, and identify objects on the other side that other people might not have known were there. With it, she also acquires 360-degree vision, as well as night vision. However, when it is on she is unable to see any living creatures. This power can only be used for a short amount of time, around 10 minutes, before she tires. When her power is on her eyes seem to become unfocused, and they emit a very subtle white glow almost like headlights.

She was in a boat, and with her sat a family. A father and a mother, along with two young children that could not have been over seven years old. The sun was shining as the boatman rowed along, but slowly a thick fog began to roll in. As it thickened, worried creases formed on the foreheads of the passengers, but she remained calm. Once the fog was too thick to penetrate with the naked eye, she stood and made her way cautiously to the front of the boat. Tapping the boatman on the shoulder, she turned on her power before beginning to whisper instructions to the man. Guiding them from sand dunes, rocks, and from a collision with another boat. A while later the boat bumped gently into the dock and climbing out, the family thanked her. Clasping her hands in theirs, eyes shining and mouths smiling. She accepted their thanks graciously, and soon the fog disappeared once more and the sun shone bright, revealing a small town and grassy slopes.

From her vantage point at the top of a steep hill, she looked down at the many gray buildings that surrounded her. Around her were clustered five attendants, waiting for an order so that they could obey without hesitation. Yes, they would not hesitate to obey, for they knew her power. They listened to her, they waited until she was ready to speak. They understood why she did what she did. With a wave of her hand, they backed off a little, giving her room to stand. Her gaze traveled from one place to the next until she settled on a spot, and scanned. A cluster of people came into view, all gathered and gesturing around a table. Those people were obviously discussing something, and she had not been informed of that. That group had tried to leave her out. With a smirk, she pointed to the area and issued an order. "Summon a few others, and bring all the people gathered in that building to me. There are four, and I want every one of them."

@Holy Soldier Leila will be an agent. As for your question, the way I thought about it was that though she is drinking blood it still takes so much energy for her to heal, so that even the blood she drinks cannot rejuvenate her enough. Especially since she should only drink enough to form that "connection", otherwise she risks killing that person by drinking too much.
