Diva stopped singing the moment the announcement boomed throughout the area. "Ah...shit," the young girl hissed out the swear quite emphatically, to anyone inside the vehicle. Just about anyone would know what that meant. It was...ok, it was only probably Policus, she couldn't see anything that would confirm it. But either way, it was NOT a good sign. The only sorts who'd make that sort of announcement were he ones who rolled in able to back it up and that was not good. This would, in point of fact, be the ersatz idol's first encounter, however indirect, with a Policus urban suppression team.

"Are we...gonna cooperate," she asked, sounding less than hopeful. She was, unlike most of the Cleaners, more of a law-abiding citizen than not. She didn't come from some dark past as a Painstaker, or otherwise do anything to already run afoul of the law, but that didn't make her want to start, either. Nobody would hire an idol with a criminal record, unless they could make that into her entire gimmick.

"Or, are we just gonna run?" She didn't advocate a direct fight, at least. Was there even a reason to stick around, though? Maybe they wouldn't give chase if there was no actual battle left to stop. "I can cover our retreat, if you need me to. Or...something. Still, uh, getting used to this part of the job."

From what she could hear filtering in from the opened hatch atop the armored van, negotiations were going well. And nobody had a clue here, either, making it a...bit of a dead end. And then, in short order, the screech of rubber on asphalt, the roar of engines, and the staccato of gunfire. All hell had broken loose, not that Honoka was there to see it.

Not directly, anyway. Bullets struck the van like occasional hailstones of lead. Only the nose from the impacts got through the armor, to reverberate inside the confined space, but it was still enough to make the girl panic. In her mind, they were still shooting at her. It was no surprise she almost jumped a foot out of her seat when the door was flung open and Advent entered. At least she didn't scream too long.

"Ah...sorry, you scared me." Diva grinned sheepishly at the older woman. "No clue what the plan is, if there is one. It as bad out there as it sounds?" She sounded hopeful. It could always be less of a spectacle.

She didn't wait for a reply before she got to work on her own. No way was she going out into the middle of a firefight ,but the nature of her magic didn't need her to. She started singing, and a bright show of shifting lights began to play across the inside of the van. AS the song grew in strength, the area effected spread our from Diva's position, enveloping the battlefield nearby, and kept going until it eventually faded at the limit of her abilities. The song itself carried through the spell's area, floating on the ether as surely as if it were broadcast over loudspeakers. Subtle, it wasn't, but it would at least provide some cover for the Cleaners in the ensuing chaos.
The change in the rain, to a lighter, but no less constant mist, was almost welcome. It seemed the storm was not worsening, at the very least. Though if the wet chill wasn't already soaking through Lillet's cloak before, it certainly was gaining a greater foothold now. Breaking for camp would, definitely be for the best, if only for the opportunity to warm and dry themselves by a fire. Provided, of course, that wood dry enough to burn could be found.

"We should probably keep going, at least until we find some better shelter," she replied to the others. "If we're lucky, we might even be able to sleep somewhere relatively dry." She barked out a brief laugh at that, not quite trusting in her own assertion. The sudden silence, once she had stopped talking, was unusual. Without the gentle patter of the rain, the forest was eerily quiet. It was as if their small expedition were the only thing moving in the area. And then, a brief flicker through her mind, some sort of warning come unbidden from without. Something had changed, in the magical environment, at least. She recognized the source of that brief frisson of unease, at least that far.

"Charlotte, did you just feel that," she asked, assuming that the man in their company would not have the sensitivity to such a thing. "I think it may, indeed, be best if we hurry on ahead." Lillet was the sort to throw caution to the wind. If something had happened, she wanted to be there and see it. Then she could worry about whether or not it was a good idea. Her excitement about this expedition continued to build. If that something had happened at those ruins...they might just be something well worth the trip.
Travel was always one of the least entertaining parts of the job. Sure, the scenery never did disappoint, if one enjoyed the beautiful but often harsh landscape of Illiserev, but packing to be out in it took a little more than just a backpack, if one intended to be there for any extended period of time. This would be one of the reasons Lillet didn't travel on foot, but on horseback. It also helped things go by quicker. At least she wasn't going it completely alone, this time.

Lillet glanced over her shoulder toward her traveling companions. A single bored eccentric and her butler hardly amounted to much of any expedition, but even a few people tagging along beat being alone. Lillet couldn't figure Charlotte out, from the short time she'd known the other woman. The blonde was warm, friendly, and outgoing, but she didn't really seem the type to be a scholar of antiquity, in any capacity. The butler was even more of a mystery, and although Lillet couldn't quite place what seemed off about the soft-featured man, she didn't worry too much about him, either. Any butler in Illiserev would certainly be capable in a fight, and an impeccable servant out of one.

Their last visit to a town had been a day or so ago, and the travel since had involve occasional consultation of a map, and wandering through the countryside, picking their way along what small paths could be found. "It'll be a day or so yet, before we get there," she called back to her companions. "At least from what information I have. Shame the weather's taking a turn for the worse. Hope your brought some gear for it." The multiple layers she was already wearing suggested she had come prepared for just about any situation.

Diva nodded at the various questions and answers. This was one hell of a spook, whatever it was. Invisible, fast, kills anyone when nobody's looking, and so-on. She beamed proudly at the mention by name. "I can force it to manifest, if there's even anything there to get." If it wasn't the Nightmare proper out and about, it wouldn't likely do anything. "Sounds like we also want to be sure we keep a buddy at all times for this one."

She looked around at the others. "Hopefully we won't have to fight this thing, but just in case, I'll do what I can. I might need someone to keep an eye on me, though." Not that she wouldn't be doing the same for them.

At the urging to get a move-on, she filed back to End's van with the others. As before, she was more than willing to try and strike up a conversation, once safely inside. "So, I don't think I'll be that good for talking our way past any mobster types," she said, simply. It wasn't the area of expertise one would expect for a teenager, anyway. She had enough trouble negotiating the ins and outs of her school; the shady underbelly of a city like Neo Babylon was far beyond her.

"Since this thing manifests as wind or something, should we codename it something like 'Kamaitachi'," she asked at some point, suggesting a nickname for their monster. It would probably be easier to discuss if they had something to use for reference. She didn't really have many other productive things to say on the rest of the trip down into the undercity. And when it came to actually talking their way past the security, she remained silent. Not her area of expertise.

Name: Lillet Duchamps (nee Lillet Blanc)
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Nation: Illiserev
Appearance: Lillet stands at average height, and has a slight build that tends to hide her true strength. She dresses like most girls, and seems to lean more toward clothing lacking ostentatious accents. Some would scoff at such preferences as a sign of her humble birth. She would ignore them. She tries to avoid full-length dresses, as they can get in the way when it comes to martial arts.
Personality:
Lillet is warm, friendly, and usually pretty well behaved. In battle, she is passionate and hot-blooded, and tends to really go all-out on her kiai. In no way is she afraid to take risks and bet everything on slim chances, intending to make up the rest on sheer guts. She’s a careful student of history, and is particularly interested in the origins of the Gods of War, and other such ancient mysteries.

She’s jealous and somewhat distrustful of all these Talentium-wielding wannabe “God-breakers” running around. Sure, they’re powerful, but the attitude they can have toward Gods of War can get infuriating at times. The ancient colossi may not be as effective against Rift beasts, but there’s no need to call them obsolete, or behave as if one is inherently superior. Then again, anyone who gets too cocky about taking on a giant mecha solo may have another thing coming. She may be suffering a bit from being an old "elite" faced with changing times, or simply influenced by the stereotypes carried by those around her a bit too much.

Lillet is terrified of vampires. She also dislikes spiders, centipedes, and other creepy things with too many legs. Otherwise, she fears very little. Mundane threats such as assassination or Rift beasts are challenges to overcome.

Biography:
Lillet was born into a family of servants within the Duchamps household. When she was three years old, her mother took her to see the Duchamps family's God of War. Azure Aeon knelt down before the young girl, irrespective of its current Chosen's wishes, and a dark blue crest manifested itself over Lillet's solar plexus. This sudden changing of Chosen, and to a lowborn girl, no less, caused something of a stir within the family ranks. Lillet was quickly adopted into the family, for appearance's sake if nothing else. It simply wouldn't do to have their Chosen be a servant and not a member of the family.

Life didn't really improve for Lillet much, as she was scorned by her eldest adoptive brother, whom everyone thought would inherit the Aeon. Outside of public functions and social events where she was treated as the Duchamps' youngest daughter, she was essentially still treated as a servant. She was also bullied by some of her siblings, her eldest brother chief among them. There's certainly no love lost between her and most of her adoptive family. Those relatives whom she actually likes do see more than the merely formally polite treatment. Even appearance-wise, she's something of the literal black sheep of the family, as most true Duchamps are blonde or otherwise fair-haired.

Lillet's extensive martial arts training began young, where she was placed under the tutelage of the various battle-butlers of the family. Physical abuse, at least, dropped off quickly once she became able to effectively defend herself against any such attempts. The whole "Fist of the Six Heavens" thing may be a bit of a fabrication either by Lillet or her entire family, but nobody's likely to give a straight answer if asked. She takes quite a bit of pride in her skills, and keeps them sharp with frequent practice and training. Including kata done by giant robot.

Within the cities managed by the Duchamps family, Lillet is often paraded around as a symbol of strength and tradition. Actual combat tends to be managed by the corps of battle butlers and the family's eldest son, who turned out to be capable of using Talentium. The friendly (on the surface) rivalry between brother and adopted sister continues to this day. The brother names his Talentium greatsword "God-Breaker". The sister is happy to point out he's done no such thing to actually earn such a title. And so it goes. Propriety and fear of being absolutely crushed under the full weight of parental anger are probably the only things which have kept the two from just fighting it to the death, already.

It perhaps comes as little surprise, given her family situation, that Lillet spends much of her time traveling around Illiserev alone, usually involved in one or another of her antiquarian searches. She spends her days looking for and investigating ancient ruins and other sites. Occasionally, she'll manage to actually scrape together a full expedition of like-minded scholars, either on a volunteer basis or by funding an expedition via her family ties, however tenuous they are. Usually, any such funded expeditions require a fair bit of convincing that they will increase the prestige of the family one way or another. If she ever did find something irrefutably related to the Gods of War (or even a new one), it would be quite something, indeed.

Abilities:
Chosen of the God of War Azure Aeon

Lillet is not particularly talented as a mage, and her abilities are primarily focused into spells designed to enhance herself or her God. Rather than annihilate the battlefield with long-incantation destruction magic cast from impunity aboard a colossal robot, she focuses on physical enhancement, elemental auras, and other spells which allow her and Aeon to more easily cut a swath of destruction through the battlefield, personally. The effects she can achieve may pale in comparison to those of Talentium wielders, but they do keep her from falling behind quite as badly. She also has something of a knack for healing magic, although she usually only heals herself. She can heal others by laying on hands, but she can’t manage anything useful at ranges beyond touch.

Fist of the Six Heavens - Lillet is trained in a martial arts style that has been passed down along with her God of War. True, it lacks the power of modern Sword Arts, but it is unusual in purpose all the same: it is designed specifically for use with and by a God of War. Aeon’s weapon itself has been lost for generations, and the Six Heavens represent its current unique armament.

Alone, Lillet's techniques are useful enough to handle combat against a few opponents, although she's no match for anyone wielding Talentium, even fighting at her best. Unless she manages to disarm or evade such a foe, she would be overwhelmed, quite possibly sooner rather than later. The true strength of her art comes from the fact that it treats Aeon as an extension of her body. She generally doesn't fight with it while still on the ground, to avoid squashing herself.

Important Items:
Azure Aeon
A blue-armored God of War which leans more toward speed and agility than raw physical power. Aeon, as Lillet usually calls it, has a long and battle-scarred history, like all such ancient war machines. Its original weapon is lost to the sands of time, although Duchamps family history has it that one of the other nations possesses it as spoils of war. For the past several generations, Aeon has fought unarmed, using techniques that are quite similar to those used in unarmed combat across Illiserev. One hasn't lived before one has seen a giant robot throw another giant robot across a battlefield.

Aeon is maintained by a dedicated staff of maids-turned-mechanics, who are very proud of their work, and that one of their own is its current Chosen.

Diva didn't stick around too long the night before. She did have a home to return to before parents became suspicious, even if it would have been productive to spend some time with her fellow vigilantes. Sometimes she really wished more of the Cleaners were close to her age, so she could justifiably invite them over. As it was, she'd have to figure out other ways to socialize easily.

She did stick around long enough to get the gist of the current mission, not that it took particularly long with such little information to go on. "Wait and see" after a build-up of it being something seriously bad with a body count in the double digits already was...not really a great start, either. But, it's an interesting start, and one had to wonder why the gang was targeted. Didn't sound like they were in any real danger, at least from the initial report.

The next day, Cash contacted Diva to specifically request her presence. Such things always elated the young woman; nothing quite stroked the ego of an idol like being specifically booked for a gig. Never mind that it would probably mean risking her life. Such concerns didn't tend to register for Honoka. She did her best to excuse herself from such prior engagements like school. Not that there would be that much difficulty in producing an actual excuse for her to disappear, if her claim of sudden illness weren't good enough. She was going to see a friend in a high place, after all.

The trip through the city took a slightly different route for Honoka than it did for those Cleaners leaving from the Cafe. It was no shorter, nor less scenic, however. And otherwise uneventful, beyond Honoka proudly announcing herself as the entertainment, in addition to her name, when asked by the security robot. Any time spent traveling with fellow Cleaners would be filled with small talk, mostly speculation on the nature of the current mission.

There's really little doubt at just how filthy rich Lawrence is, with the sheer quality of his arcology-enshrouded residence. Honoka curiously peered into the windows, trying to catch a few glimpses of how the rich and powerful lived. It was a shame they weren't invited indoors. Although anything involving a plastic tarp and a chicken would probably be better done outdoors?

While not usually so faint of stomach, the idol gagged at the sudden, bloody detonation of what was just a few moments ago a living thing. "Ugh. You just had to ask us to imagine that, didn't you? I can't stop. Ew. Just...no." She paused to look away and take a few deep, calming breaths, "So, that's what happened to your 20 mobsters? Eugh. That some sort of new spell, or...what?" It didn't quite seem like one. Just draw a symbol and stuff...explodes? Magic's usually flashier or more involved than that. Certainly is for her own methodology. "This can't just be the latest black magic bad mojo, or it would be more the Prohibitum's job, wouldn't it?"

Oh, hey, I could use my "totally not a Symphogear OC, I swear" character for...what she's totally not for. Neat.

Except she ended up not really following proper Gear stuff in terms of overall theme, and I have no clue if having a second dark persona is even a good idea or not (though it would involve fun things like her actual songs changing...). Also, canon gears stole my weapon types.

Hm, I must think about this.
Oh man, Princess: the Hopeful. I've already got my magical girl fix, but I have to drop by just to say "I've GMed that." Of course, since my group's done a lot of magical girl stuff, I didn't run the game as "intended" so much as exactly like it was a Saturday morning cartoon aimed at young girls. We'd done Nanoha-style magical girl military, we'd done dark, psychological Madoka stuff, but we hadn't just played shit completely straight. So I wasted all the potential the World of Darkness had to offer to instead GM what was essentially a season of Precure.

I regret nothing; shit was fun.
