While we're on the subject of the underground gay scene: did you know the Ottoman and North African world was the DeFacto mecca for European gays? As I read European literati used to travel to places like Tunis or Egypt where there was a public openness towards homosexuality, or more so than Europe. And also porking young boys in the butt, but that's another thing.

I don't know how relevant that antiquated piece of information would be at the end of the day though, since that would have been over a century ago. But if I were to imagine a PoW-contemporary underground gay scene in Europe then I'd imagine hangers-on trappings of Orientalism.

I skimmed around last night to find out exactly where the gay movement was before Stonewall, and I found some allusions to (but no direct explanation of) a sort of 18th century version of the Stonewall riots that happened in London.

Here is some more info though
None of this is to say you can't touch the subject of course. There is a context you could potentially use to create movements like gay liberation in PoW. The social circumstances of northern Europe haven't been expanded on very much beyond Britain. As we have alluded to, a lot of the governments of Europe are antiquated and brittle. With Spain and Britain making power plays in Africa whilst China looks to be swallowing Russia, social tension in the rest of Europe would be tense. The gay underground has been around for centuries, so we'd assume it is present in PoW, and if social tensions get explosive in continental Europe then a spirit of political radicalism and near-revolutionary sentiments could create a gay rights movement in the same way the civil rights movement and the radicalism of the sixties brought about the gay lib movement.
With the civil rights movement still a present tense affair and europe still in an imperial mindset, i dont know if there would be much of a gay rights movement as of yet. Though, i really dont know.

Aids does exist, Googer has touched on it, but compared to the real life trajectory of the disease it is still very much the 70s.

As for using the LGBT movement as a springboard, you can probably use it but it'll have to be part of a larger movement. With civil rights as an open question, it would be difficult for such a movement to gain traction alone. But part of some larger liberalizing movement? It is doable.

I never did get around to finishing FO4. I can't even say why tbh, except that it just seemed... bland. It was fun for a while, and they had some fun novelty bits, but the writing of both Bethseda Fallouts come off as bland to me, and 4 is the weakest. When the ending for FO4 was spoiled for me, I wasn't even mad at it being spoiled. My reaction was more like "That's the ending they are going to go with?"

I dunno, I guess I tend to prefer writing that makes me feel like my writing is inadequate. With FO4, I feel like I could have written a much better story for that game, and that's offputting to me since I'm some amateur dumbfuck in an RP forum.
who the fuk that. i'll whoop 'em
I would help out, but I don't know how it works.

I suppose I should get back to finishing up that Sahle post then, since this thread is breathing again.
