A lot of people have little to no knowledge of Military stuff, so when other players start flaunting how much they know about weapons and armor specs in OCC, they get intimidated and decide not to join the RP.

With you on that one. My guess is it was a copy and paste from wikipedia.
Well, I'd rather have everyone be normal soldiers. Not really into having everyone be Special Forces.
I am creating one right now. It's gonna be modern military. It's in the Interest check.
The idea is pretty much the title, it would detail the lives of soldiers. Why the army? The deployments last at the most fifteen months. But what about the other branches, WITS? Well, the Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps have six month deployments, with the Marines having 9 months at most.

With that, I would like to say that I would like to stick to being as correct to the military as possible. Don't worry, not asking you to have military experience. You just need a general idea, I'll set up the more complicated shit.

Also I ask you use this article as a guideline for creating a character.

This one

As far as the genre, I am looking for a comedy, with a little action(of course), some messing around, and all around just try to have fun with it. Don't take the RP extremely seriously. Don't take your character's too seriously. I would love to laugh throughout this RP. Help me out.

Ultimately, I would like it to be focused on how the soldiers go about their daily lives under the stress of a combat deployment, and how they deal with the boredom(gives you a lot of good ideas with comedy, right?).

Oh, and the most important rule. NO POLITICS. No political undertones. No bullshit. We are not making a political statement, just having fun and making a good roleplay.

I am debating on where to put the deployment. It could be in Afghanistan, Africa, The Philippines(That might be a stretch, but there is some potential for action), Guam or Okinawa(not really combat deployments, but a good environment for roleplay development), and possibly the border of South and North Korea(not combat either, but on the edge of war).

I'm cool with civilian characters, if someone wants to make one, but I will probably limit that to one. If you really want to be another service branch, I'll only allow one character from each U.S. Armed Forces Branch other than the Army.

So, who's with me, and where the hell do you want to be?
Sure, why not? Even though more people have ended those than group RPs, I don't mind hearing about it.

Wade was a little taken aback by the appearance of the other man, with a name quite similar to the one he shared the dip with, though he was not so surprised. There had to be back up plans for this kind of stuff, and this was obviously Mr. Aldo's insurance.

Wade stood back a moment, then offered the open can of dip to Arlo, "Nice to meet you, Arlo and Aldo. My name is Wade. I hope our relationship can further our survival." He said. It was similar to a business proposal, done by such men who lived gloriously above Wade's stature in the old world.

"I believe we both will have skills that can benefit each other greatly." Wade said. "Where are you guys headed? Sears Tower?" He asked. He had tuned into the radio once, on a vehicle he managed to get working for a little while. He just flipped through every station he could and was lucky enough to find the radio message. Wade only wanted to find a vehicle to take with him to the Sears Tower. Chicago was a big city, and Wade wasn't about to hoof it to the Sears tower. He had the idea that if he hit the back roads, he could avoid the thousands of dead cars on the highways, blocking everything.
