Titans of Gotham [Spots Available!]

After Chester was released from the hospital with his right leg and arm in a cast, he informed his parents of his hero work. They weren't too pleased with what they heard and demanded that he give up on heroics. Since he had already chosen to quit the team, Chester did not argue and agreed with his parents. They allowed to him to visit the Gym one last time to pick up his things and say goodbye to his teammates. He almost had trouble speaking when he met his teammates, but he managed to find words to express his regrets at his time on the Titans coming to a close.

"I'm sorry that this couldn't work out and I'm going to miss you all. I hope that everything works out for the rest of you and please stay safe my friends. Keep my suit" he said to the rest of them with a sad smile and with one last wave Chester left the gym and slowly walked to his parent's car having to use a crutch to walk properly. Once at the vehicle he got in and closed the door. His parents then drove away and Chester rested his head on the door. He looked out the window and his mind filled with his memories of the time he had with his team. I can't believe I'm leaving them like this, oh well life goes on and I need to get help for my depression, he thought to himself. Ratboy was done for now.

I agree on some points, but the topic itself arguably removed the civilty status of that thread. Everyone responding in such a volatile way to such an inappropriate breach is expected (at least, imo), but I also agree that how it was handled was very far from optimal. Some took it too far, yes definitely, but it was still justifiable anger.

Though, I don't think we're going to get anywhere with this argument, considering how stubborn I am and how the thread was ultimately locked for both "sides". Also, as others have said, there's a high chance it was just a dedicated troll. Part of me believes he wasn't, but to err on the side of caution, maybe it'd be best to stop conversation about it. Don't feed the possible trolls and all that.

Pick-up artists are kind of like martial artists, in a sense. Except with way more bullshit and placebo built around it.

In martial arts, you learn skills, you have to get into a certain state of mind, and you have to practice, but they're trying to prepare you for something with a billion variables that nothing short of experience will ever be able to properly prepare you for. All those highly specific fight-ending maneuvers you learn you will probably never get the opportunity to perform, and when you do, it probably won't end the way you predict, because f*#ping nothing will. They do give you one thing that always helps your chances, though, and that's physical conditioning.

That's what pick-up artists are, basically, but, as I said, with all the potentially useful teachings stripped away for plain bull, among other, more destructive lessons. They give the less skeptical student the courage and willingness to ask the girl out, which is the most important aspect. They don't have chances if they never tried to begin with. Of course, it'll probably never work for someone *aherm* aesthetically disabled, but a guy with no eyes and only one of each limb just isn't boxer material, is he?

Invariably, there will be at least one woman in a million that would accept his proposal, (And the unfortunate boxer may be able to beat the crap out of one in a million guys, but I'm done with this entertaining analogy) but he has neither the time nor resources to meet literally a million women. That's what dating sites are for, the ability to ask one million women out at once.

also since we don't exactly know who we all are, there is always going to be a chance that people will do something that offends someone. I've seen rps set in WW2 where players can play as Nazis and rps set in ancient Rome

Branding angry backlash towards a terrible handled gameified version of a tragic historic as harassment, when it has not gone beyond a now locked thread (which, again, I'm assuming there have been no malicious PM's or the sort), is arguably discrediting actual harassment. Additionally, you can't say that they didn't expect there to be at least some negative reaction. Hell, they even said they did themselves. In conclusion, this is (imo) clearly not a risk-inducing event for the OP, assuming they don't have any mental afflictions that could serve as a catalyst for the kind of break-down you mentioned.

Additionally, let's define harassment in this context. According to Canadian Human Rights Commission:

i would say calling someone scum and talking about being a punching bag in a past life sounds like personal attacks which I'm pretty sure is breaking site rules.

As I said I am not defending the roleplay and I agree that it was very inappropriate, but regardless it was wrong for the people to react in such a hostile manner. After all this site isn't meant to be a safe space and we must never treat it as such. This is a community and therefor civility is what makes a community prosper

EDIT: Not to instigate an argument, but let's say, for example, I punched someone in the face, would it be harrassment if everyone verbally lashed out at me because hurting others like that is "immoral"? Facing negative reactions for a percieved negative action is how it works. Should everyone have calmly discussed it? Probably, but people don't generally work like that, you being a perfect example. You saw something you disliked and you responded with negative emotion. As I said though, I draw the line when the response gets more personal (as in, malicious PM's or attacking in non-related threads, etc.).

Anyways, here's a pet peeve: when people make a fandom RP but completely misconstrue the lore of said fandom. Like, it's one thing if you're making an AU or something, but if you're trying to adhere to the actual canon and you just get it wrong... yikes.

Acting like that is going to get you in trouble one day. People have been killed and have had their lives ruined over emotional break downs. I say that it is better to keep your feelings under control and try to find a civil way of handling things you don't like because I would personally like to report several people on that thread for harassment

I am very mad at how people basically harassed someone for a controversial rp.

I'm not agreeing with the concept of the rp, but the responses were definitely harassment if you go by several people's standards
