I mean how it applies to things. What does enthalpy have to do with rebonding the oxygen into toxic gases?

Enthalpy is energy as it relates to mass, volume, and specific heat. You use it a lot in thermodynamics.

My book is a 9th grade book, it doesn't explain entropy except in the notes and it doesn't even mention enthalpy. D: Maybe I'll look at the Feynman lectures about it.

I only have a vague idea of what enthalpy is! By that I mean I know exactly what it is but I have no idea how it applies to anything else in physics or chemistry!
