Will we be the ones picking our houses cause I was hoping my character could be put into a house by someone else (gm or co-gm?) wanted to give it that extra feel of being sorted. Happy to do whatever is less stressful for the role play of course but want to share my desire as well.
Still very much here but waiting for others to post before moving my group to the present time where the train arrives. I would recommend that everyone have their next post end with them getting off so we can all board the boats and get to the sorting!
Just so everyone knows I have plans for Devin breaking the game of quidditch. Very interested in him coaching a team he can't join yet with secret muggle based training. How about a keeper practicing as a catcher like in baseball? Could even get some combo training with a beater learning the hit a golfball while a seeker has to catch it before it hits the ground. Chaser squads practicing football with a rugby twist!

So many ideas and so excited to play out some of these scenes with my housemates. That being said if my characters muggle centric outlook is going to derail some of the overarching plots I am happy to reel it back. I'm still hoping to start the muggle culture social club, but perhaps that waits till another year (3rd year is when they get electives and Devin could take Muggle Studies)
Devin still glanced at Roze's hair every so often as the group started to talk about quidditch. He understood the basics just like Jake seemed to grasp baseball. "That is a start." He said cheerfully to the magic borns survey of baseball. He dipped his knife into the chocolate whip and then started to wash the knife over a piece of bread. He wished he had been able to get some peanut butter as well but it was crazy expensive on this side of the Atlantic.

Devin had consumed every bit of knowledge about the sport and was proficient enough to know the positions he was even up to,date on some of the teams that play with his family being fans of the United team Jake mentioned. He was confident in his athletic ability with muggle sports but the thought of flying around had him on edge. Devin even got a chance to ride a broom though he didn't trust himself on it. Still it was healthy competition and it got him excited.

"The beaters are the enforcers of the team like in hockey." He said thinking it was a better connection to a muggle sport. "Keeper is the same as a goalie in hockey and soccer. Chasers are the forwards or strikers depending on how they position themselves on the field and the keeper is in a league of their own." Devin then muttered another comment though not loudly. "Though that shouldn't be how they play."

He could hear himself fall into his excited sports tone so Devin pulled back somewhat. He was self aware enough to sometimes catch himself before he went too far and being surrounded by a magical train still had him pretty self conscious. "I would be comfortable with being a keeper as well." It was the managing position. A role Devin had played in nearly every sport he played. He was a point guard in his coed basketball team. Catcher in his colt league baseball team and goalie on his hockey team. If he could he would have had a longer list, but there are only some many seasons in a sports year.

As he heard the two talk about speed Devin couldn't help but turn commentator. "Speed isn't important for those positions. It's reflexes and hand eye coordination. As he looked the two up and down he could already tell he was assessing them the way he would his friends when picking teams for a pickup game. "If I were to place you I would put you at forward midfielder." He said pointing to Jake. "And you I would want playing Seeker. My way not the positions way..." His tone went low like he was continuing the thought but in his mind. He snapped out of it and apologized.

"Sorry. I really like sports..." Devin didn't blush but he did feel like he made the room awkward. He glanced out the window for a moment to see the rush of green hillsides fly by.
Anyone from my cart alive?
Post is up. I am enjoying the scene my character is in greatly. The idea of muggle not knowing anything is normal but let's see how things go when a wizard is confronted with how to eat an Oreo! Best of luck Jake.
The one true personality trade Devin inherited from his father was that neither were complicated. They knew what they liked, disliked, and didn't care about. The problem with this of course was those tricky things where there was something he liked involved with something he disliked. Being pushed into the magical world crated a giant gap in this likes outlook on life. Devin was desperate to speak "wand talk" a term his dad came up with to describe magical conversations. The down side is he never really had a teacher for magical daily life so when it came up he felt like it was more or less a foreign language.

Devin wasn't surprised that Jake hadn't heard of the sports he mentioned. He had gotten even less of a response from his family in England. Still the other boy seemed to have some knowledge of world sports. Devin didn't test that knowledge as the conversation turned to Roze who in spite of his promise to not jump Leander back in surprise over her sudden change in appearance. He was relieved that this seemed somewhat normal to Jake who called her something that sounded like the Latin name for a lizard or something. He nodded along as the girl explained her limitations.

As the trio continued to chat the conversation was interrupted by the inevitable hunger of three growing children. Jake was the first to share his train snacks with the offering being a odd bag of what looked to be jelly beans. Jake explained that every one was a different flavor and this seemed accurate after Roze exclaimed hers was blood flavored. Devin hesitated to take one. It wasn't that he didn't trust anyone but more his past experience with magical food left little desire to test the cuisine again. His cousins gave him a candy that ended up being gag food that made his tongue shrivel up. It went back to normal after a few minutes but the whole thing scared Devin for sure.

Still, Devin wasn't about to let a girl take a risk and not him. It wasn't pride so much as Roze reminding him of a friend back home. One he had an almost unhealthy rivalry with where the two would dare each outer to do more and more crazy things. More then one dare ended with a broken bone. Taking the plunge Devin reached in and pulled out a bean. It was white almost pristine in color. He popped it in his mouth and quickly bit into it. To his relief the taste it gave was both familiar and enjoyable. "Mmmm coconut!" He said with a smile. This got even bigger when he saw Roze pull out a bag of Oreos.

Taking one gladly and thanking both Roza and Jake for sharing he took the Oreo and twisted the two cookies ides apart. He then gave the middle cream layer a nice big lick and enjoyed the sugar rush as it hit his taste buds. He then tossed the cookie parts in his mouth and chewed with a happy, content look on his face. It felt like it was just turn to share his goods so Devin reached into his bag and pulled out a small lunchbox. Inside was a tuna fish sandwich along with a coca-cola and some crackers with Nutella. "This stuff is great for dipping." He said as he opened the crackers and dipped one in the chocolate flavored deliciousness.

"Have at it." He said offering his desert to the group while opening his soda and taking a sip.
Sorry I was absent these past few days. Currently in Central America and the Internet is pretty rough. Should be a lot better tonight. When I get a post up.
