I would like us to maybe talk about the ending of the film in the actual role play. Everything we are discussing could be great in character moments. Any chance we might be moving forward towards the IC?
For all the people who have added characters (or finished them) in the last day or so. I will be going through and writing their character connection with mine tomorrow.

For now I am putting the finishing touches on my characters main side story which I will need to contact a few people who I am hoping will be able to help me with it.
Okay I need to apologize. I am still getting used to this new format of the website and I had no idea that we couldn't delete posts. I had every intention of deleting the post when the actual role play was going to get started. Since I can't do that I am just going to replace it with a fun picture or something about film stuff.

Again very sorry everyone.
Any feedback on my character is greatly appreciated. I tend to focus on my characters personality if it is a non action/daily life style role play. Since this one will likely require everyone to have a false understanding of all the players a detailed personality is what I assumed was desired by the GM and the other people role playing. If there is something about my character that doesn't make sense or that has to be altered I am happy to work with it and make all the desired changes.

World Traveler
I am happy to be GM at an information. I would have done this anyways, but basically if someone has a question I am happy to answer and when I see an opportunity (for characters to interact or for a good scene with plot) I usually share it on the thread. Outside of that (Thinking of large term plots and control characters who are inactive) I am not sure I would be comfortable with. While I do have a lot of experience being a GM I tend to dislike becoming Co-GM's specifically because I know I will have a different desire and direction than the original GM has and it is their creation. I am just happy enough to enjoy the ride and bank for the turns.

As for my post in the IC. I took a small liberty in writing it up. While my character wouldn't be the first contacted location scouting and getting all the paperwork done is often months ahead of any real public announcement of a film. The cast and everyone within the project will usually know, but will be under contract to keep silent. I also wanted to take a chance to write for my character and see how he feels with the written word. if need be I can take the post down and wait for it. I wrote it with the intention to be a fun little flavor for the role play and introducing the movie project.

In many ways it was just me practicing with the character.

Archduke Arn Von Leitner Fourth Son of Emperor Nikola Von Leitner

25 Years Old

Family History
The Leitner family is a bloodline that has been traced back to the first Crusades. They assisted holy knights on there passage across the barbarian lands of Southeast Europe and were gifted large amounts of land as payment. Good favor from the church as well as key figures in the region allowed the family to sell his land and return from the Holy War to settle into what would become Vienna. Here the family flourished, bringing new farming techniques to its people as well as coffee and other trades from Turkey and other regions they encountered during their time in the Holy Land..

After several generations of continuous growth in both economic and political influence the Leitner family and the surrounding noble families broke off from its German ruler, seeing an opportunity arise. Germany was currently at war with the Polish Empire and could not afford to split their troops to try and reclaim what was now declared independent Austria. In achieving this independence there came even more wealth and power as the Leitner family rose to lead the new nation. It has now recently completed its conquering of Hungary and its outer territories. With that the head of the Leitner family now become an Emperor after the King of Hungary was allowed to keep his title, but submitting loyalty to the Leitner family and Austria.

Personality
Arn is a quiet and reserved individual who is mostly interested in security and peaceful living. He has a strongly-felt internal sense of duty, which lends him to often have a serious air about him and hold onto the motivation to follow through on tasks assigned to him. Organized and methodical in his approach, ge can generally succeed at any task which he undertakes.

Arn is very loyal, faithful, and dependable. He places great importance on honesty and integrity. He lives by the code of a "good citizen" who can be depended on to do the right thing for his family and people. While he generally takes things very seriously, Arn has been known to have an offbeat sense of humor and can be a lot of fun - especially at family or work-related gatherings where his people skills shine through.

Arn believes in laws and traditions, and expects the same from others. He is not comfortable with breaking laws or going against the rules. If He is able to see a good reason for stepping outside of the established mode of doing things, Arn will support that effort. However, he more often tends to believe that things should be done according to procedures and plans rather than open defiance against the rules put in place.

Arn is extremely dependable on following through with things which he has promised. For this reason, he sometimes gets more and more work piled onto him. Because Arn has such a strong sense of duty, He may have a difficult time saying "no" when he is given more work than he can reasonably handle. For this reason, Arn often works long hours, and may be unwittingly taken advantage of.

Arn will work for long periods of time and put tremendous amounts of energy into doing any task which he see as important to fulfilling a goal. However, he will resist putting energy into things which don't make sense to them, or for which he can't see a practical application. He prefers to work alone, but works well in teams when the situation demands it. He likes to be accountable for his actions, and enjoy being in positions of authority so as to make sure things get done. Arn has little use for theory or abstract thinking, unless the practical application is clear.

Arn has a tremendous respect for facts. He holds a tremendous store of facts within themselves, which he has gathered through both academic and social methods. He may at times have difficulty understanding a theory or idea which is different from his own perspective, but will seek out those that can explain it to him. However, if Arn is shown the importance or relevance of an idea to someone who he respects or cares about, the idea becomes a fact, which then Arn will internalize and support. Once Arn supports a cause or idea, he will stop at no lengths to ensure that he is doing his duty of giving support where support is needed.

Arn is not naturally in tune with his own feelings and the feelings of others. He may have difficulty picking up on emotional needs immediately, as he is presented. Being a perfectionist himself, he has a tendency to take other people's efforts for granted, like he takes his own efforts for granted. He needs to remember to pat people on the back once in a while.

Arn is likely to be uncomfortable expressing affection and emotion to others. However, his strong sense of duty and the ability to see what needs to be done in any situation usually allows him to overcome his natural reservations. Once Arn realizes the emotional needs of those who he is close to, he will put forth effort to meet those needs.

Arn is extremely faithful and loyal. Traditional and family-minded, he will put forth great amounts of effort at making his homeland and family run smoothly. He is a responsible brother, taking his role as a sibling very seriously. He is a good and generous provider to his family. He cares deeply about those close to them, although he usually is not comfortable with expressing his love. Arn is likely to express his affection through actions, rather than through words.

Arn has an excellent ability to take any task and define it, organize it, plan it, and implement it through to completion. He is a very hard worker, who do not allow obstacles to get in the way of performing his duties. He does not usually give himself enough credit for his achievements, seeing his accomplishments simply as the natural fulfillment of his obligations.

Arn has a great sense of space and function and artistic appreciation all giving him a unique talent in combat. While the weight of his actions in the Holy Land are still carried by him he has allowed himself to move forward by setting those actions under ones that were require of him to fulfill his duty to his land and family. His great respect for his adversaries often let to compassion on the battlefield often handed down to opposing military leaders.

In general, Arn has a tremendous amount of potential. Capable, logical, reasonable, and effective with his actions he holds a deeply driven desire to promote security and peaceful living, the Arn has what it takes to be highly effective at achieving his chosen goals - whatever he may be.

Personal History
Arn was born the fourth of seven children. He is the third oldest son of the Emperor and has an older sister along with his two older brothers. With his line to the thrown further back he was raised in wealth; however, the tasks ahead of him were seen to be one of a supporter of the future Emperor. This lead to a considerable amount of schooling and training from the time he was 5 years old to his 17th birthday at which point he was sent to the Holy Land to support the second crusades.

It was considered an honor to be selected for this position and Arn was excellent at fulfilling what was needed. He led several military campaigns which sensually gave clear security to the Holy Lands from its surrounding enemies. Arn was especially praised for his ability to listen to his advisors as well as local allies during his conquest. When he returned from his post in the Holy Land he was welcomed by his family and subjects with great excitement and energy.

Having returned from a four year campaign Arn was given the task to travel the empire and assist in agriculture, trade, and infrastructure of the outer regions. During his two and a half year trip he made several key changes including major immigration reform as well as instituting a new tax for roads many of which were ideas he took from his time in the Holy Land. At first these changes were met with opposition; once the benefits became apparent, however, favor quickly changed.

His success has lead to a somewhat unfortunate rivalry between his older brothers who at times had made embarrassing or selfish choices. This rivalry was becoming an issue within the line of succession for the throne. Seeing it becoming a possible spark that could lead to civil war the second oldest of the sons brought a possibly solution to the Emperor. He proposed that Austria send Arn to London in hopes of creating a closer bond between their two nations. Arn was not oblivious to this being a method of removing him; however, saw it as the best move to help his family and country.

After several years of language lessons in Rome he returned home and was then sent off to England as an official ambassador. His tasks were to bolster the relationship between his country and England. His father has also said he expects Arn to return with a wife as it would be the best way to foster an extended treaty between the two empires. On this subject Arn has gone on record as believing it is a fools errands; however, he respects and adheres to his father’s wishes.
I understand that plenty of talk has taken place and I might be out of line, but I saw on the top of the OOC that you are possibly looking for some sort of medical or science based character. Is this still true? I am more than capable as far as role playing an adult who lives and dies by the scientific method as well as have a long understanding of the Stargate story line/universe. If there is an opening I would be happy to fill it.

World Traveler
It had been a long day for Jake and the disorder of his office was no sanctuary from it. His office wasn’t full of paperwork; instead trinkets and toys were littered throughout the room; on top of his desk, on his wall, and his windowsill. They were all from different parts of the world and each one a souvenir from a place he had visited. The crown jewel of his collection was a small snow globe featuring the leaning Tower of Pisa. Compared to many of the other things in his office it wasn’t as cool to the outsider, but for Jake it was the prize of the group.

Sitting down in his desk and flipping his laptop open Jake was interrupted by Robert, a small Asian American who had been with Jake since college. His facial expression showed that the next conversation was going to be one with stern words and perhaps a bit of loud voices. This was just the case as Robert closed the door and looked over at Jake while speaking sternly. “Janet just told me you declined the Deep Films project.”

Jake had figured this conversation would happen at some point. In knowing that he had been ready for it since yesterday and calmly replied to Robert while shaking the snow globe “That Janet is very good at reporting facts. She is definitely in the wrong industry.” He then set the snow globe down and looked up at Robert. He knew the man needed to vent since he was the always stressed member of the company.

A deep breath was followed by the first joust of words from Robert. “That was a good project Jake. Have you seen the money they are putting into it? The cast alone is likely going to put them back over 60 million. What possible reason could you have for turning it down?” He hadn’t taken nearly enough breath in so he was somewhat red in the face by the time he stopped and crossed his arms at Jake.

“Old important places.” Jake said in response.

“Excuse me?” Robert replied with a confused look.

“The Director said he wanted ‘old important places’ in our phone conversation.” Jake made a face that showed he was not only applaud by this phrase but that it also possibly had a bad odor. “Someone who can only use that to describe where they want the movie to take place should not be connected to a company called Deep Films.”

Jakes musing and reasons seemed far from acceptable as Robert took another breath. “Are you telling me that because the director couldn’t tell you where he wanted to film you said no? Jake it is our job to tell them where to film. Jake we are not a company that can pick and choose projects. Even been considered for one is a win. Getting an offer is a downright victory.” His face once again turned a light pinkish red. “You are going to call them back and tell them we have reconsidered. We will be lucky if they don’t take off a percent of their original offer.” Robert then leaned forward and put one of the company’s cell phone between Jake and the snow globe. “Number is already dialed.” He added.

Jake was as much a free spirit as his dad, but he was also plagued with the realist viewpoints of his mother. He knew where Robert was coming from. The company had been able to get its foot in the door, but since then they weren’t continuing to grow. In the land of movies you had to keep growing or risk being taken over or worst forgotten. Deep Films was an independent group, but it was an independent group with money. Jake picked up the phone and began to hit the dial button. He also pulled up his email to reread the offer that had been sent to him by Deep Films.

When his email came up he saw a new email from Max. He smiled and then clicked to open the email as he heard the cell ring in his ear. Meanwhile Robert stood by and watched Jakes every move like a 3rd grade teacher tapping his fingers against his arm. His body language seemed to change when Jake suddenly broke out into a big smile.

As Jake continued to read the email from Max he couldn’t help himself, but smile more and more. The phone call was picked up and someone on the other end named director of blab blab answered. “Tell Michael Trins he is a dweeb.” Jake said and then hung up. In ecstatic fashion Jake stood up and tried to high-five a flabbergasted Robert. “Don’t worry Robert.” Jake said with a loud happy laugh. “Things are starting to look up. Sit down and have a read.”

Jake took Robert over to his desk and sat him down. He then listened as Robert began to read the email aloud. “Dear Jake, I am writing you to ask about your availability for a project we will be starting. It will be an extended project so we will need your entire staff for at least the next 8 months…” Robert continued to read as Jake left the room. The cell phone had begun to ring with the caller ID showing it was Deep Films. Robert picked it up and hit ignore.
Since most people here doesn't have a lot of experience working within the movie industry I made a list of some scenes we could have in this role play. I also thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know that if we are going to be going about this role play like a movie there are going to be several time skips. These are easy to plan, but can be difficult when dealing with people having conversations and other people waiting. Something to keep in mind and perhaps talk about later. Since we aren't actually making a movie of course none of these events are must have scenes, but I think they could be perfect opportunities for character interaction on and off the set.

Script Read: This is where the whole cast of the movie and a bunch of bigwigs come together and read the script. This is often done in front of a group of reporters and usually has a party like atmosphere before and after the reading (It is a non-fancy party so actors and the like have been known to show up in jeans and a t-shirt while producers are in suits and the like.)

Trailer Filming / Early Movie Promotion: This after a few months of filming and is often held during a large break in the production. This could be during a location change or during a planned absence of a cast member. This is where cast members will do one on one interviews with people like E News reporters and Inside the Spotlight shows. They are highlighted usually by a public party where the trailer for the movie is shown and then uploaded onto the internet.

The Grind: This is a term used to describe the largest blog of filming. It usually lasts between 7 to 9 months, but with major films it can be up to a year if you include travel and logistics of everything prepped before hand. Here you see the movie basically being completely filmed and the chaos of the industry in full force. The closer to the end the more chaos there is to handle in every department.

Editing & Promotion: After the filming is complete there is plenty to be done in the editing room. A large portion of the crew and cast are done at this point and will go on promotional tours such as late night talk show appearances. There are often special events that take place such as private screenings of finished sections. This is the biggest promotional push for the movie. Get the actors to stay it is their best work and they are really excited to show it to the world.

Opening Night: The true red carpet moment. All the build up leads to this night. Most of the cast and big name members of the crew will attend. I figure most people know what goes on before the movie and during. There is always an after party and these are often hosted by the director as is a custom started in the mid 50's. These parties are usually where tabloids get their 25,000 dollar photo of some actress near a co-starting actor and rumor mills can start. Though with 24/7 paparazzi that moment can happen just about anytime anywhere.

If people have questions feel free to ask. I am going to get started on my first IC post. I figure it will be my character getting the call that his company is going to be contracted to do location for the movie this role play will be doing. Since they wouldn't tell him what the project is completely until later it shouldn't lock any important information.
I have no idea. All I know is that I had written up Peter connection last and when I published it you couldn't see it. When I highlighted the area the text showed up so either it was a weird glitch or the text color had been changed. Either way it is fixed. Jake lives in a world where Peter exists.
