I'm sure the vampires have ranks, so to speak, but it would be largely determined by age and family. Experience, faction, beliefs, social relationships, etc. would influence it also.

That's Fate/Zero, and in my opinion it's the second best anime ever made. Be forewarned, that AMV has a completely different story from the original. In the orignal, Saber isn't Lilith, but is in fact King Arthur.
