Really? That's... actually pretty interesting. What are the marked differences? I would have assumed most Canadian schools were pretty big on social liberalism, hippie-dom, and overwhelmingly mild politeness, after all.

I don't know why there was a nun lady in this "not Church" place. :/

I'm... not trying to criticize, or claim that you're lying or w/e, I'm just generally curious as to what you're talking about.

Did this thing have a title besides "Church"? Like, it almost sounds like a church-managed day-care to me. Was that it? Was this something you went to every day/weekday, or just on Sundays?

I mean we've already established that this isn't Mass or school - I'm genuinely confused as to what it is we're talking about and I want to figure it out. :/

Same. Kind of makes more sense that a Catholic school would be private, I think, since public schools are funded by taxes, and you'd think people would get uppity about their tax money going towards an establishment built on a religion they may or may not support.

I believe that Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan all have publicly funded separate school systems, both Catholic and of various Protestant denominations.

This is sort of what I was thinking. Separation of church and state and all that. Maybe that's why Nex's experience with Catholic school wasn't all that religious or any such thing.

Halo said wasn't all that religious

I didn't say that. I said that the emphasis of the religious teaching was always on something positive (or something intended to be positive). We still attended Mass, had daily prayers, learned about the history of the Church and so on and so forth.

Ok, now, I have been told to check out spam and if this is what the whole thing is about I don't want to check it out again. I was raised a Baptist and I major in science. I am still a Christian and I believe in evolution. So what you just said is one of the most wrong things I have ever seen.

That would be sadism. Specifically deriving pleasure from the suffering of others. Being dominant is more about exercising control over a subject, but there is a respect aspect to it. Otherwise you are just abusing someone and that is never ok.

Is it still abuse if the person enjoys suffering?
