"Are you a vampire?" she asked still scared as she backed from him. Her back accidentally hit the wall behind her.

Intentionally slowing and shortening his steps, Mithias enjoyed a short walk. He could hear everything. There was little reason to lift his hood to see, but of course things were all so beautiful. The sky, the trees, and the silver glow of the moonlight off the ever so slowly rolling clouds beneath it were mesmerizing... but even that was less beautiful than a human, a person. Mithia inclined his head after a particular young woman with curly brown hair as she paced by politely. Some humans were so delicate and shy, like deer. He lowered his head again, pausing for a moment with the thought to go after her. Not to eat her, no, not this time. It would just be nice to hear her laugh and chat with family... perhaps a fiance. Sometimes Mithias wished he was a grandfather for the benefits of family. Centuries were so much slower in loneliness. He sighed and resumed walking. There was simply no way that he could masquerade as a normal human. Vampirism was physically obvious in him, with his chalk white skin, clawed hands, and vivid golden eyes. They weren't normal attributes. He was visually terrifying. It was too bad other vampires made such bad friends.

Not far, near a graveyard, he heard a conversation between what seemed to be some teenagers about vampires. he didn't even bother to shake his head and kept on moving. The 'entertainment' out here was unfortunately bland, but he had another goal in mind tonight.

That carriage... Mithias stopped and peered carefully through the front gate to the Kingsley Manor. There it was. So that brown haired boy had come here. Very curious. Although fairly socially ostracized, Mithias had heard the rumors, and he knew they were false. A crow cawed above him as the wind made the dried, dead leaves in the trees rattle. It was such a lovely music. The warm lights in the stone-walled windows looked inviting, like a home long forgotten, and the thought to invite himself in came to mind. Of course he would be careful not to be seen, but after 300 years of no possibility of finding his own maker, what else was there to do but takes illogical risks? Mithias touched his sides, feeling the two swords he kept hidden under his disguise. He actually chuckled softly and looked back at the manor. Nothing could possibly kill him, even if he wanted it to.

Walking a little further into a black shadow beneath the rattling trees, Mithias dropped his cane and lept over the wall. Certainly a little tentative exploring would be ok. Rather than take the front door, Mithias scaled the wall to an open window and began his investigation by peering inside.

Lights were still on, mostly candles, but this place also had electric lights. A dusty chandelier hung over what looked like a library on the inside, with many walls and standing racks of books. He listened with extra intention for any voices.

"No I haven't seen them. This is the time of night where they come to feed" she said as she bent down to her knees to pick up the apples that fell from the basket.

-Greta-
"Stella? Where are you?" Greta asked as she stepped over the threshold of her cottage.

"In here!" Stella called from the other room. Greta walked in and saw her friend's blonde curls spilling out of its perfect formation as she set up a bedroom for herself. Not even breathing hard, she pointed at the room across from hers. "That one's yours, if you don't mind. I know this is a bit smaller than what we're used to, but we'll make do. At least the main room is nice and spacious, even if the bedrooms are a bit small."

Greta nodded and gave Stella an appreciative smile, then headed to the room that she would call hers for the next few months. She effortlessly lugged her heavy trunk through the doorway, opening it and pulling out various dresses. She put them in the wardrobe and continued to unpack.

Almost an hour later, Greta decided to go back outside. She was curious to see if any other vampires currently had been residing in Ispwich. Greta was sure Stella's illustrious name would at least get a few of them to assist in the destruction of Kingsley Manor. Stepping out into the night, Greta felt her muscles relax. It was dark. And when it's dark, the creatures of the night awaken.

Evelyn hardly noticed those she passed, just wanting to get back to the safety of her home. She approached her cottage and slipped inside, turning quickly and resting her back against the solid wood as if it were an anchor to ground her. She closed her eyes and thought to herself. There were explanations for what had happened obviously… One, the man could move incredibly quickly. Perhaps a magician? Yes, an illusionist playing a joke. Of course. And she had fallen for it. She opened her eyes and relaxed, smiling. What an experience. At least she would have a story for her co-workers tomorrow that they would appreciate. She moved to the hearth, removing her jacket and hanging it on a hook. She began her fire that would burn all night to keep her warm in the absence of other bodies. Someone peering in the window would perhaps expect to see a family night about to begin. A mother putting on dinner, a father reading a story to two young siblings who warmed by the fire. But no. Evelyn cut off a bit of cheese and a hunk of bread, putting them on a plate and setting them on a small table next to the rocking chair that was a safe distance from the fireplace. As flames began, Evelyn changed out of her garments into a thin but comfortable white night gown, lacey around the arms and bosom, dusting the floor in length as she walked. She brushed out her hair before grabbing her grandmother’s heavy quilt and a book with a page in the middle bent downward. She curled up in the rocking chair, wrapping the quilt around her body and opened the book to read with her left hand. She casually lit a match with her right and lit the oil lamp on the table next to her rocking chair that had her meager meal, blowing out the match and beginning to read as she periodically nibbled the cheese and bread.
