Everyone's fine; we're all still on schedule. And even if we weren't, I'm flexible. Happy players is my goal. Also, wanted your opinions: In the first IC post I've assigned some color codes to each of you, more or less based on Fairess's amazing diagram. These color codes would be used only for a character's name and only when interacting with that character. For example, in OneEyedChurro's last post, Marcel tries to interact with Silhainlé, coloring Silhainlé's name might help make sure that Neon notices it. You wouldn't use the colors if you were just thinking about the other character (unless the other character could read minds). It wouldn't be required, but it would be an aid to highlight when you are trying to interact with another character. Is that totally dumb?

It is totally dumb, but I like it. I wouldn't be opposed to it, it would help to make sure we don't accidentally skip over something relevant to our characters.

Whew! Finally got that post in! >.> I feel like I'm just wandering around with it, but there it is. @hank: Deeeeewd! Promotion! I'm crossing my fingers for you. @clark: Yeah, it could be interesting. I'm usually against any sort of coloring in text (due to it being distracting), but I guess that's the point of coloring character names. It might be a little weird, what with how I often refer to other characters without using names. And for no particular reason: Writing Mood Music

Alright, now a few more of you have got posts in it feels right to get another of mine out. I'll start working on that! Also I'm totally fine with colour coding names.

Don't think I'd mind the color coding. I usually end up re-reading posts quite a bit anyway, but color coding names might help prevent confusion if someone refers to a lot of characters without actually using their name.

Great posts, everyone. Just a few things: - Now that I've seen it in practice, I'm not sure if it's necessary to have unique colors for every single character. I imagine a single color for everyone would adequately serve the function of highlighting without the tedium of copying all those hex values. - If you like the unique colors, carry on. Either way, the color coding is totally optional: if you don't like it you don't have to do it. - I will experiment with using the unique colors to indicate particular descriptions within my posts that are specific to a certain character. For example:
Three bowls of soup are on the table. The one on the right is considerably warmer than the other two. They all seem to be chicken noodle soup. Could they be safe to eat? Someone behind the door is giggling.
- I'm working on the next momentum post. I'm waiting to see how much information Djonn and Silhainlé choose to share with the rest of you before I post. - I rushed the Chapter 1 update before the scene outside the bar was given time to resolve. I don't want to do that again. Can you help me brainstorm a solution for us all to be on the same page, so I only push the plot forward when you're ready for me to? The only solutions I've thought of involve clogging up the OOC or lots of PMs. Or perhaps we just agree that Sunday is my default posting date for major beat posts, and if you need more time in the current scene, you need to send me a PM before Sunday telling me so. Or is there another system that might work well for us? @Neon @Fairess @OneEyedChurro @Commodore Robot @Hank @Megadraco Just testing this notification system.

- I think I might stick with the color system, but just use one color for all names. I dunno, on one hand it was nice cause at a glance I could tell who was being mentioned, but at the same time, as Fairess said, it was kind of distracting. I'll probably do what everyone else does. - I like the idea of the character-sensitive colored information, though. I think that's a really cool idea. - I don't know if clogging the OOC is necessarily a bad thing. Isn't that what OOCs are for? But either way, having a set date for your major posts might not be bad, either. However, I have an incredibly flexible schedule, so no matter what we end up coming up with, there's a 99% chance it'll work for me. If I had to choose between those 2, however, I'd choose making liberal use of the OOC, simply because being put in a situation where I wouldn't be able to post on a Sunday may also mean I wouldn't be able to PM you and let you know. And as for notifications, I didn't seem to get anything. EDIT: They may have been because I wasn't subscribed, which I am now.

Nah, I also didn't get any Notification. I'm guessing they don't quite work yet. Also, I agree with OneEyedChurro on using the OOC.

Alright then, for right now we'll use the OOC. I'm going to wait a bit before posting this week's update, at least until after Djonn has a chance to relay whatever orders he wishes to the party. After that, I'll ask if everyone is ready to move on.

Like @OneEyedChurro said, there's no such thing as cluttering up an OOC with chatter actually related to the roleplay. I'm a firm advocate of using the OOC for lively discussion and collaboration. Sunday also works for me as a fixed plot-progression-post-day. I work fulltime and party hard in the weekend but even I can find time at least once a week (or more) to write a post.

Yes, a lively OoC is always a good thing. Having a fixed post a week should keep things moving along quite swimmingly. After all, if someone is unable to finish out an interaction, they can coordinate in the ooc or PM to fill in holes.

This week I'll likely post sometime on Thursday, but moving forward I would like to try to make Sunday the regular posting day for me. Obviously if no one is able to post that week or if something comes up for me we'll be flexible, but Sunday will become the target day starting the next week.

Anyone know a good free, web-based map maker? I've been messing around in sumopaint, which might work with a little more practice, wanted to see if anyone knew anything with built-in assets for building world maps.

Hmm...if we're staying mostly web-based what you could do is have one made in donjon's, save that image, and then touch it up in something like sumopaint or GIMP. Granted, donjon's is randomly generated, but you can set a fair amount of parameters for it to work around.

This is a work in progress, but just so you can have a sort of idea, here's a map I've been doodling: I'll need to figure out how to label areas, but for reference, Belencrest is located at the center of the three gold lines. Paolou is on the western coast, where the gold line ends. I'll be finishing my post tomorrow, so if there's anything you want your character to do before I move things forward let me know.

Hey! Sorry, my internet was down for a few days, but it's back now! I'll hopefully get a post up tonight or tomorrow, depending when I have time. Just thought I'd let you know the situation.

That's an awesome map, Clark!I can already feel my adventuring wanderlust tingling. On another note... yeah, Adele is pretty nutty right now. Hope it's not too much; I can edit anything if nessesary.
