Players can take the roll of anyone they can justify fitting into a small fantasy village setting of my design. It would be generic fantasy-medieval european-goblins and wizards casting Vancian Magic-basically D&D (which is kind of Tolkien). Your characters could be retired adventurers that came to the (unnamed as of yet) village and because of skill/charisma/whatever eventually became the ruling body. You all work together to fix problems and other shit that I throw at you. The game would be relaxed and could have a rotating cast. As I'm writing this I'm thinking of moving it to Casual.

It's been a while since I was last on here, and I know I can't exactly hold down my interests but... I have to say, this would be incredibly fun to read/be a part of. Great idea man.

Absolutely an amusing factor - the reference to Vancian spell casting alone would prove to make this entertaining just as a concept. I certainly have interest.

So kinda curious if non-standard races could be played for this. I mean, human, elves, dwarves, whatever, standard fantasy races, but what about like lizardfolk or kobold or gnolls? Can we play those, if we have a good story?

I want to stick with standard fantasy races for now. By the way-what races are people thinking about playing? That would help with the worldbuilding for the village. If most people are playing dwarves for example, I would set the village in a mountain borough-like a outlying settlement of a larger dwarven fortress. If most people want to be elves then treetop villas it is and so on etc.

Bonus:
Possible starting point for the RP. Used from Wizards of the Coast free maps gallery with names and labels removed.

It sounds like you're going with D&D style stuff? How about I play an Elan, that's a D&D race. They're basically psionically charged humans, they're rated as being as powerful as humans so it's still balanced.

He'll likely retire as a hunter or blacksmith, or some sort of forester/handy orc. Though I'll likely be running two characters, a strange father/daughter pair consisting of said orc as the father and likely a half-elf as the daughter. Half elf, half orc.

A part-fey spellcaster would also work, like a human that has some faerie blood a few generations back.

Obvious problem there is that it sounds like you're making a character who lives in the village, when the RP story is apparently focused on the people running the town, and less so on the people in it.

I'm interested, I was going to ask about Elans aswell but someone beat me to it^

Psionically altered humans is a way to put it, as I'd play a human-elf Elan. Elans are mashed together from two different races, yes Psionically. They are frowned apon by some people because they'd not be raised with parents most of the time. They're rarely seen but physically appear as one of their half counterparts. An Elf-Orc Elan would be brutish or very delicate, either works. It would be a large orc with skill in archery or the ability to see in the dark. They have all special traits and can live indefinitely (as far as knowledge goes) but still die from mortal wounds. Heal normally. They just don't age beyond a certain point.

However if unavailable I'd likely play a regular hybrid c:

I've actually never seen anything about them being a blend of two species. Everything I saw about Elans is that they're normal people who underwent a ritual performed by other Elan to transform them into one, with nothing said that it's a mash together of two races.
