Ava looked over at her father when he said her name sharply, about to argue with him over this matter. If she went, she would find a way to escape and come back. But not before freeing the dragons there and taking out any chance of Einar possible winning a battle against Berk She wished she could convay this to her father, but she could't without tipping Einar off to what she was thinking as well. Besides, even if she had tried to speak it, Blizzard had lept at the man, the two tumbling, leaving Ava wide eyed and unsure how to help her friend at the moment. She screamed out his name when she saw Einar strike at him with a knife, "Blizzard!" She panicked slightly and watched as Toothless managed to tackle the man off of him.

As the man went to his boat, Ava rushed to where Blizzard was, looking at the wound, a worried look on her face as she looked up and heard Einar's threat. If she didn't go with him before that time, Berk would be attacked by the Skrill. She knelled down next to her dragon friend as the fiend rode off in his boat, looking a the wound, relieved it wasn't to deep, meaning it was at least non-fatal. She looked over as Aurora approached as well, licking her son's wound to keep the blood from escaping any more and looked to her husband to carry the younger dragon back to Hiccup's home.

As the two older dragons took care of Blizzard, Ava looked back to her father, worry filling her gaze, "Dad, the Skrills. If I don't go with him he'll have the skrills attack the village and a lot of people could get hurt! Even killed! I have to go with him."

Hiccup paced a few steps and though his prosthetic didn’t usually seem to pain him it made this action stiff. He walked this course as she spoke and then turned to grasp her by the shoulders as serious as he had ever been. “A chief protects his own.” He mirrored his father with this phrase but then breathed the weight out of him, voice softer, strung with affection for his daughter. He loosened his grip and urged her to really look at him. “Ava… when I was younger and still trying to find myself in this world a horrible man had sought to destroy everything we worked so hard to achieve and yet… I could not see him for what he was. I believed that peace could be forged with reason and truth… but this man was not one that could be reasoned with.”

“This man had wanted a war. My father and mother both had warned me and yet I believed by putting myself before him and stating my case I could stop the battle. He had turned Toothless against me and killed my father, though I had never struck a single blow. I had believed things could be resolved peacefully but men without reason can not be reasoned with.” He hoped to impress this upon her as his parents could not him. “This man was Einar’s father and I see in Einar that same hatred. Even if you go to him I don’t believe he will be so kind as to honor his words. He will still call the skrill as to ensure you will never be taken again.”

Ava shook her head, "And if I don't go they'll still be called either way! I'd rather go with him and take that chance that he might honor his word and not attack the village than him for sure attacking this place and hurting people!" She said, hoping her father would listen to her, "And if he doesn't call them than that still gives us a fighting chance. I can work from the inside. Find a way to free the dragons and stop him from doing more harm." She looked up at her father as he held her his story, and telling her that a chief protected his own, "Dad....I know your scared. I know you think you'll loose me, but I'm not a little girl any more! And if I'm to one day be the leader of this tribe, then I'll be damned if I let it gt destroyed by that man!" She said, gesturing out to the waters that Einar had just sailed away on.

She wasn't sure if speaking like she had would just make her father more likely to let her go, or if it would just make hi see her as reckless and keep her from leaving his sight at all, but right now, she truly felt going with that man would be the only option the village would have in getting a chance to build up and fight back without the chance of the skrills attacking them. After a moment she looked at him, quieter and a little more calm, yet serious, something that wasn't normally on her face, "It's the only choice Dad. he won't hurt me. He needs me to make those weapons of his. You and the others can stay here, take care of the people for now. I can figure this out dad. You just have to trust me."

Hiccup understood where she was coming from but that wasn’t the problem here- if that man wanted a war then refusing his demands would just be the excuse. Later on he’d find another to attack. There was no reason they couldn’t just end this now. Berk would fight if called upon to defend one of their own but Ava wished to keep peace here. She saw that giving up herself was better than giving up countless lives in the sake of protecting her. As proud as he was as her selflessness he wished she’d just let him handle this. He’d push the point again- knowing she’d probably just sneak out later and go against whatever he said.

Before he could draw a breath for the next round Blizzard burst through the doorway- looking livid but very much human. “You aren’t going!” He snarled at her, exposing his teeth and hastily yanking a blanket around himself because her usual reaction would not favor his point. “He’s a beast masquerading as a man!”

Hiccup expected some things from the dragon but now this. “What?”

“Did you not hear me?” Blizzard snapped sharply “he’s wearing the skin of a human. Just below the surface- he’s-” There was no word that would translate this from his natural tongue and the clicks caught on his human vocal cords. He hissed with irritation. “You don’t believe me?”

Ava nearly jumped out of her skin when the door suddenly opened up and by the time she had turned to look at him, Blizzard had a blanket around him and had snarled at her, teeth bared, and for some reason, even in human form he was terrifying like this. She flinched, looking at him quite confused when he spoke, unsure of what he was trying to say and whens he just couldn't piece it together, looked to her father. Only, when she looked at him, he didn't seem to understand either. Frowning she stepped forward to look at him and speak, hoping maybe he could elaborate more just on what he meant, "It's....not that we don't believe you. It's just that we don't understand what your trying to tell us."

She raised her hands as if to tell him to calm down, having a feeling knowing they didn't see what he was trying to say would only frustrate him more, "Just...calm down. What do you mean that he's 'wearing a human skin'? If he's in disguise than who is he?" A beast masquerading as a man. What id he mean by that? She was so confused by this all, but al least want to understand what he was trying to tell her.

It did frustrate him. As a dragon he failed to see how they could be so blind. It was clear to him that the man wasn’t what he seem- that he bristled of cold edged energy just beneath the surface. It disturbed him greatly because he knew what this beast was but could pin no name on it, this thing without substance but of great power. So great it was terrifying and Blizzard was very much afraid. He growled again.

Clutching the blanket, pulling it taunt over his shoulders as he balled his fist. “I don’t know how to explain it!” His frustration buckled his voice and he gashed his teeth, struggling again upon the ancient word of a race separate from humans. A few clicks and curdled vowels on inferior vocal cords. He choked on the attempt and howled in anger, turning and stomping heavy on what felt like clumpy human feet. Even with their language he couldn’t rely the pure terror that was this beast. The power. The hunger.

Toothless slunk into the room, barking at his rider.

Blizzard scrunched his nose in response to his father’s appearance and huffed “I know you see it.” Also that Toothless wasn’t so foolish to attack something like that- wrapped in feeble human flesh or now. “You go with this man he will gut out your core and wear your life bloods and skin.” He plucked at the bottom hem of her shirt “like these skins.” He wasn’t good at explain things in ways humans would understand. Dragons were more emotion than vocabulary.

The way he was stomping about was frustrating to her as well. She couldn't understand what he was trying to stay at first and him just getting angry and stomping around wasn't going to help them understand at all. He approached her though, tugging on her shirt and saying that he would 'steal her skin' essentially and she though she understood what he was saying, but at the same time it confused her. Surely there was no such thing that could steal her body was there? Take control of her? She looked up at him, frowning deeply, "Are you.....are you saying this creature, what ever it is...takes over people's bodies? And that it wants...." She paused a worried look suddenly coming to her face, "That it wants mine?"

This was worse than she had thought if that was the case. When she had thought they were just dealing with an angry man she thought they could take care of that. They were smart enough and she knew what Einar was like. But, now she wasn't so sure. Now they were going up against that she knew nothing about and whatever it was, it seemed to have Blizzard pretty spooked, And whatever it was, it seemed like the dragons could see it, but they as humans couldn't, making it all the more dangerous for them. She bit down on her bottom lip as she thought about all of this, letting it sink in before she spoke once more.

"W...what are we going to do? If this isn't Einar, but some beast as Blizzard says, how are we supposed to fight it off? We don't know anything about it or what trick it has up its sleeves." She looked back to Blizzard, "Is there anything you know of we can use against it? Some weakness it has?"

The knowledge of this creature was that of his ancestors- while any dragon would recognize that there was something beneath the man’s skin, it would be little more than: very scary, bad, bad, bad energy, fear, much fear. Blizzard had gone further than many of the young of this land though and had experienced terrors which were not mere fantasies. This beast was as ancient as the first dragons. Draped in a profound hunger. A wise stormcutter had warned him not to cross claws with a ship of Vikings that had shot spears at him from the sea because one of the men was not what he seemed.

Speaking of stormcutters… Blizzard turned away and transformed, the blanket sliding off his smooth scales as he sped for the door before bursting out into the frosty day. Toothless barked after him before taking chase, part of which involved tossing Ava onto his own back as he raced from the house. They traveled down the hill and towards the barns- Blizzard’s tail disappeared around a bend in the opening and they followed shortly into a rumble of commotion. Many of the dragons were shrieking from their perches, bouncing and scrapping at the wood in agitation as Blizzard paced the floor. In face of this unclear argument it immediately silenced as Toothless roared. He then barked at Blizzard who gave his tail an annoyed flick.

From the eaves a large dragon descended, one pair of wings leading it down while the other remained folded at its sides. Toothless sat up straight- forgetting the rider on his back, greeting the older dragon with a nod and a rumble. Sound rumbled from Cloudjumper’s throat and Toothless responded with clicks, only interrupted by Blizzard’s bark of impatience.

Ava was a little confused when Blizzard didn't answer her question, but instead transformed running out of the cottage, "Blizzard?" She called after him and was about to move to the door when she was suddenly thrown onto the back of Toothless, yelping and holding on at first before she straightened herself out and looked around as the Nightfury ran, seeing Toothless was following Blizzard to where all the dragons. Entering the building it was easy to see all the dragons were uneasy and she wasn't sure if it was because Blizzard was uneasy and they were feeding off his emotions or if they sensed the creature on the outskirts of Berk. Whatever it was, it took one good roar for Toothless and they all silenced, looking down at their leader as he barked at his son at what she could only guess by the annoyance rolling off of Blizzard was him being scolded.

Looking up, she saw the Stormcutter dragon that belonged to her grandmother, Cloudjumper if she remembered correctly, come down and land before them. Toothless straightened and Ava gave a yelped because when he did she slid off of his back and into the hay. Still, she quickly got to her feet again and went over to Blizzard, a hand on his side as she watched the exchange began between the three dragons, all of which she didn't understand. Looking over at Blizzard, she spoke quietly, scratching his scales as if to try and calm him a little bit, "Think you can translate? If this has to do with that creature, then I'd like to know what the dragons have to say about it."

It was fortunate that she worked such magic with those fingers or he might be tempted to snap at her. Scratches first- then requests… that was the way to do it. Muscles loosening, he looked at her with a questioning coo and then ruffled himself off. He rose onto his hind legs easing his transformation back to a human and stood naked in the barn warmed only by dragon fire. It was easily toastier that the snowy day beyond its walls and he wasn’t uncomfortable in such a setting. “Uh… dragons don’t speak like humans. Though my dad and Cloudjumper are both really intelligent for our kind its more like… broken thoughts and emotions.”

Toothless thumped his tail against the ground and rattled his earflaps against his skull, bouncing them as he gave himself a through shake. He clicked- revealed his teeth and rumbled. Several dragons from the eaves chattered in response, their fear so thick it was nearly tangible. “Most of them sense the beast but don’t know what it is. Cloudjumper has a vast knowledge. He was saying that it shouldn’t be this far north. It likes warmer climates. My dad is frustrated that he’s never heard of anything so rare. He’s rare himself.” Blizzard stared at the pair. “I’m pretty sure he knows that is stupid logic but is holding to the feeling.”

Cloudjumper lowered further to the ground until his chin was resting in the hay and stared at Toothless with those intense unblinking eyes until the nightfury twitched, shifting on his feet as he turned his head away and grumbled. Blizzard didn’t translate this because it was nothing beyond a matter of pride. When the conversation eventually continued Blizzard crouched lower to the ground until his fingers were touching the earth- body tensing as the subject was further conveyed.

At that moment Toothless slunk away from the large dragon to circle around the two of them, closing them off from the others as he stretched out his wing and leaned his head towards Blizzard. The boy was silent, the air choked from his lungs. He shook it off. “they think there is no known weakness and want to try and sink it at sea. My dad is suggesting you act as if you will go back, get on the boat. When you are out a ways, either me or my dad will swoop down and rescue you then the other will blast the ship. He thinks he must speak with Hiccup first. Also wishes to express his worry for you and trust in your bravery. There is not words to explain this sort of thing to you.”

Ava listened as Blizzard spoke, telling her in a round about way what Toothless and Cloudjumper were discussing, not looking Blizzard's way for now as she knew he wasn't exactly decent. She kept her eyes on the two dragons, watching the exchange of the two and the emotions the two seemed to be showing as they communicated in their own way to one another. And then, a few moments after, she watched as Toothless encircled both she and Blizzard, a small exchange happening between the father and son before Blizzard spoke to her, telling her what the two dragons had come up with as far as a plan. It made her frown at the fact there might have very well been no known weakness, but at least maybe they might be able to get rid of it by sinking it in the ocean as they said.

The only thing was that to do so they would have to use her as a distraction in order to do so. She just hoped that they would be able to sink the ship before he managed to call upon the Skrills. Looking at the dragon, Ava slowly nodded. She knew it would be dangerous. But, she also knew this was their only chance at getting rid of that beast and saving the village from a attack, "Okay. I'l go along with it. But I'm not sure how y father will feel about all of this." Her father already seemed very protective of her and hadn't wanted her going back with that man int he first place. She wasn't sure how he or her mother would react to this plan of putting her on the ship with the creature. But, as of right now, it was the only plan they had and they didn't have much time before that creature would call upon the Skrills.

"Let's get back to the house. I'm sure my father is wondering where we went off to. We can tell him about all this when we get there. "

Was it unusual to disapprove of this plan? Blizzard didn’t like the idea of giving up the girl to some… beast. Something so mind boggling that even now he didn’t know what to make of it. It was just: fear, weight, very scary, bad, bad, bad. He shook it off again. The more he thought of it the more disturbed he became. Why couldn’t they do this without putting Ava at risk? Could they not blast this beast from the sky until all that remained was the charred essence of its being- Blizzard stepped over his father’s wing to crouch on his back. He did this for a moment before reaching back and yanking Ava on behind him. He shook his head, puffed his cheeks and leaned in close to Toothless’ neck again. The next moment the nightfury was propelling forward out of the stable and through the snow banks. Great bounds up the hill back to the chief’s house. But the villagers had become clumped much like the dragons in the barns- more aggravated than afraid. Ready to go metal to metal. Gathered on the hill.

They had heard what happened on the docks. Those that hadn’t seen it with their own eyes. Hiccup silenced the men and women with a demand for their attention- one unspoken but clear by his tone. He told them he would meet them in the town hall (as he saw his dragon approaching) and to wait there for him to arrive. There was no further argument and they departed, leaving him to face his daughter. Which was perhaps a job far more taxing than calming a hyped up group of axe welding Vikings. Shockingly. “What’s going on?” He was pretty sure by Blizzard’s untrained expression that he at least didn’t like that outcome of whatever had taken place.

“Toothless needs to talk to you.” The nightfury pushed past his rider with his cargo in stride. Blizzard immediately hopped off his back to stand near the fire, crouching low and staring as his father slunk closer to Hiccup with a rumble.

Hiccup rubbed his fingers at his hair. “I know I’m not going to like this. You‘ve come up with something?” Toothless barked and jerked his head towards Blizzard who scowled, expressing his own dislike. “He thinks we should give Ava over to the beast.”

“Toothless.” Disapproving, disbelieving. “That’s NOT the solution.”

Toothless snapped his teeth together and knocked his son over with a sweep of his tail.
