So I'm noticing a few people in the IC are saying it's a new year or a new semester, so I just wanted to point this out:

...He marveled that it had only been one week; it felt like he'd been here for...months, maybe.

We're only in our second week of Beacon.

So yeah, the start of a new year. One that happens to be in Beacon.

This sounds more to me like they finished a year at Beacon and are beginning a new one at Beacon:

...that one ill-advised year of computer science.

A green-grey satchel slung across her body, her black jacket and checkerboard-grey skirt tidied up for a new semester...

If I'm wrong, than I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Luke just transferred in from a regular high school.

Kind of a big part of his schtick.

That's actually a misconception propagated by Supernatural. salt has never had any form of supernatural repelling qualities.

In ancient Jerusalem (as well as other desert areas) salt was used to purify and preserve meat. Because of how fast meat spoiled in desert countries you needed salt unless you were going to butcher and eat the animal immediately. This caused salt to become a symbol of purity and life in many ancient cultures because food was life and salt was necessary to preserve it.

Supernatural took this a step further by saying that since it was a symbol of purity demons, unclean as they are could not abide it and as a symbol of life ghosts being without life could not tolerate it. Before Supernatural salt had no demon slaying or ghost banishing qualities.

I'm not involved in anything currently, but just in case anyone was thinking of getting me involved in anything, I'm probably going to be gone for at least the rest of this week. Driving back to college tomorrow (12 hour drive), re-connecting with people, finishing summer work, etc, so you all probably won't hear from me for a bit. Been a pleasure joining up with you all this summer even if I wasn't able to participate that much.
