Name:
Calev Shaeld

Race:
Hylian

Age:
37

Appearance:
A hardy and hale example of the Hylian blood, Calev Shaeld's lineage comes from large, hard workers and wanderers of the world, and it shows in his build. Tall, easily reaching just shy of two meters (six feet six inches) in height, and with a set of broad shoulders and thick muscles that creates a demanding presence whenever the man walks into town. Under the weather worn cloak and well made tunic, reinforced to provide some modicum of protection, is a pattern of scars from a rough and tumble life, the most notable being a large arrow wound scant inches from his own beating heart. That is a scar he tells no tale for, and will unlikely ever have interest in doing so, since it is a tale he is not fond of retelling. He openly wears his weapons, not as an attempt to scare or induce fear, but to dissuade trouble before it happens. His blade is a straight sword, a plain piece of work that's cost came from quality of work instead of adornments. His bow is hewed from old Kokiri Forest lumber, and while not enchanted as far as anyone can tell, it is an old and reliable tool Calev is most fond of. Worn and broken in boots coupled with faded trousers speak of a life walking the forgotten and hidden places of the world, both things the man is proud and even eager to seek out.

Home:
Born and raised in Darunia, though he frequently went on trips with his mother.

Biography:
Both parents to Calev Shaeld did not ever seem, to the others in the village, ever likely to love each other, let alone sire a child together. His father, Vec Shaeld, was a blacksmith and typically was more concerned with his next contract and keeping up with the work that he needed to do on a daily basis than trying to find a woman who would sire him a child to keep his bloodline going, something that had long since been typical of those with the Shaeld blood. His mother, a woman who called herself Ianu and never publicly would take the Shaeld name, was a mysterious woman who typically came and went at a whim. She would value her freedom to walk the world as she saw fit and claim to have gone places almost no living Hylian, or any other for that matter, has ever gone. Some folks told tales of how she would have even walked in the halls of every Temple, even having reached the Forest Temple through the Forbidden Woods on her lonesome. Obviously tall tales and exaggerated experiences one and all, but the story sometimes would become far more real then the truth ever could.

Ianu staying in town for more than a month at the longest was a surprise, but when Vec and Ianu came out to the town that she was pregnant with Vec's child, no one within the town saw it coming. For reasons most found obvious, Ianu could not leave and wander like she typically would do to her pregnant state, but she would not sit idle. Vec and Ianu were all but inseparable and whether it was true love or just a convenient meeting gone farther than intended was never figured out, but when Calev was finally born after nine months, the town had grown as fond of Ianu as it was of Vec. So, once Calev was able to survive without her, she announced her intent to wander and she would be back to check on the boy as he grew up, vanishing into the night as she always would have in the pat. Calev was left to Vec, who put as much effort into raising him right as he would have into a commission from the Hyrulian Royalty themselves.

Calev was larger than normal, even for a boy with blood from the large and well built Vec, and no one could ever quite figure out why. He ate well and, as soon as he was old enough, was helping his father around the forge, building up his own muscle mass. When Ianu would first return upon his sixth birthday, the boy was shocked at this strange woman being his mother. But he took to her quickly, and would love her as much as he did his father, so it was no surprise that Calev would want to go with Ianu on one of her trips. Vec was opposed but, after a talk with his wife, agreed and bid the boy farewell, gifting him the Shaeld Blade to work on his swordsmanship with, and defend himself if need be. It would be four years before Calev would see his father again, and the young man was even taller and had grown during his travels. His mother left him with Vec before vanishing again. The stories Calev told his father were the source of many a night's entertainment and had set the seed of a wanderer into the boy's heart. This rotation of staying with his father or mother would continue until he was eighteen years old, when his mother would return one last time.

Ianu was as old, if not older, than Vec and looked it, just as much as the age had shown on Vec's face after all the years spent raising a energetic and wanderlust taken boy. But whatever words they exchanged in private, Calev would never know, but when they came out of that room, Ianu would give the just turned eighteen year old her bow, something she had never parted with in all the years he had traveled with her. Before Calev could question the gesture, she was gone into the night with a sword that it was clear that Vec had poured everything he had into. Calev and Vec would never see her again, and within a year Calev intended to go track her down and see the world like she had. Vec did not question it or even try to stop the young man, he merely helped him pack supplies and made sure his weapons and arrows were sharp before sending him on his way with a fond farewell. As much as it wasn't obvious at a glance, Vec dearly loved his boy and Ianu, and seeing both go the same path was, while it hurt, a good thing for him. He would do better out in the world than in their town.

Vec knew not where all Ianu had wandered, and neither did Calev. So he started with the basics and just started walking to see the major sights of Hyrule. From the temples he could reach to the grand castle of Hyrule, as close as he could get safely at any rate, the man would walk the world, learning many of life's lessons the hard way and finding himself better for it. He would return to visit his father every few years, to check up on him and make sure he was well. The old man still worked hard as a blacksmith and had even taken on a local boy as an apprentice to the forge, and Calev would wish them both well and go on his way as he always would. It was during his wanderings of the land that word reached his ear of a bounty, that the legendary hero of Hyrule had gone missing and help was needed to find him. Calev made for Hyrule Castle without delay, after all, a chance to walk in the footsteps of a legend? How could Calev pass that up, regardless of the bounty and gratitude of the land. The chance to finally go where he had not been able to was something he would never pass up, so with that, and his thirty seventh birthday just passed, he set his sights on Hyrule Castle to volunteer for the quest without delay.

Weaponry:
Calev bears but two weapons, his father's sword and his mother's bow.

The Shaeld Blade is an heirloom from when his father walked the world with his wife, and Calev's mother. The blade is typical of most arming swords, with a blade roughly three feet in length and a grip large enough to comfortably accommodate Calev, and his father's, larger hands, though it is strictly a one handed blade. His father taught him how to handle a sword, and the style is nothing fancy or elaborate like established schools, but it fits the blade. All in all, a rather plain, working blade that would unlikely ever grace the hands of royalty or legends.

The bow his mother gave him before she departed for the last time for destinations unknown has long since had the inscribed name worn away, although one can still see where the inscription is. It is too worn to be legible, however, this has not affected the quality of the bow. A longbow by any normal standards, its construction is an old but tried and true method of construction, having taken the strongest, yet most flexible, cut of lumber that could be found when the bow was made. Its string was made of rawhide and is replaced so often with spares that Calev, and by extension his mother before she passed it on, had carried or created while on their travels. Routine maintenance is done by campfire, cleaning and making sure the bow was undamaged, making it a finely preserved and balanced tool. The arrows are not made of Kokiri Forest lumber, but whatever lumber they could get their hands on, while the tips are metal when available, but he has made flint tipped arrows on occasion when absolutely necessary.

Additional Equipment:
Rucksack - Carries his various supplies and tools that don't fit on his belt but would be unwise to be left behind (Denoted with a asterisk if typically stored in rucksack).

Sleeping Roll * A rather plain affair, Calev carries this in his rucksack so he doesn't have to sleep on the ground of some places, due to their obvious levels of discomfort if one were to try.

Food & Water * Enough salted meats, other rations, and clean water to last Calev almost a week without being able to find game to hunt or clean water to drink. This takes up most of his rucksack, as he will typically find what he needs off the land.

Hunting Knife - A rather plain affair, this small knife is used to skin and gut whatever he kills, as well as a tool when necessary, it is a tough blade that can be used to pry certain things away from their containers and, in a pinch, do some damage if he can't reach his actual weapons.

Hollowed Horn - Made from the horn of his first kill, this mostly sentimental piece of gear that Calev carries could be used to signal others, scare with sound, attract attention, or whatever else one might need a horn for, whether necessary or not.

Skills & Talents:
Calev is a tracker and, by necessity, hunter by trade and has spent most his life walking and exploring the world, catching game to provide the nearest town food after his own pack has been filled. He can keep up and track various elusive marks, or follow old paths long since lost. His combat skills are limited to archery and swordplay, and he is no true soldier or knight by trade or nature, but he is competent with a sword and a natural with his bow. His archery is notable, as he is able to put arrows into moving targets from fair distances away, enough so to outmatch most archers. He does not enjoy fighting beyond a bloody necessity and will avoid trying to show off or advertise his simple, but necessarily brutal, combat tactics. Said tactics are typically aimed at ending a fight as fast as possible, and will take any and all advantages to do so, regardless of honor or fairness.

Outside of a fight, by necessity, Calev has learned how to maintain and repair his sword and bow, although bad enough damage would require him to seek out dedicated experts, regular maintenance and repairs he can do on his own. He is also able to act as a fletcher, fashioning arrows of average quality and make, although it takes some time for him to do this in bulk and on the fly will not be pretty. As a outdoorsman, Calev is at his best and it will show whenever he happened to find himself with a companion. From clearing a campsite and getting a comfortable, if homey, site set up to leading himself and others through all but the most twisted and maddening of places (Although he will never try his hand at the Forbidden Woods without a guide), he can keep himself and others fed and on course with some small level of comfort. Cooking and cleaning kills also comes naturally to him, and he will not waste any part of an animal if he can help it and pays his due respects whenever he must hunt.

Name:
Sibela Zheitk

Race:
Hylian

Age:
29

Appearance:
A quintessential Hylian, Sibela Zheitk is still appears fairly well despite a decade or so of hardening and conditioning by facing the ire of criminals in the streets of Hyrule. The Zheitk dynasty has had its fair share of opportunistic adventurers, hireswords, and village rangers thus making Sibela’s pedigree of a warrior creed not at all out of character. However despite her formidability she is not particularly large (five foot seven), with her most “intimidating” trait being her shoulders are a little broader than normal. Despite this she does have a refined strength due to her time conditioning and wielding weaponry and armor. Sibela is used to wielding weapons and when off-duty does not go far from her blade, even in non-threatening environments; said blade is a well-crafted sword of Hylian make that lacks much for appearance due to her rank in the Hylian Guard. Typically fitted with the standard Hylian armor and royal blue cloth underneath when on-duty, and simple blue and brown plainclothes when not.

Hyrule's Capital

Biography:
Sibela grew up in the slums of Hyrule’s capital, her father falling into poverty soon after the death of his wife and the birth of SIbela’s twin siblings, Rokon and Dozal. However, the children of Turuk would soon find themselves in peril as their father looked to a man named Mozas for help. Mozas was a shifty merchant who allowed loans in exchange for favors and debt, but in the slums of the capital there was hardly many opportunities. Mozas told Turuk he had six cycles of a year to pay him back, but when the time came up and all of the income earned back (and ready to be exchanged) was stolen Mozas was not pleased and told his men to clean up his loose end—a fate Turuk knew would be coming as he sent his children to hide as enforcers came upon him in an alleyway of the slums as his children were hidden nearby. The end result was tragic and Sibela and her brothers would never forget.

With her father losing their life to Mozas and his “kindness”, it left Sibela and her two siblings alone and distraught within the slums of Hyrule’s capital. The hate burning within the thirteen year old girl was strong and it was with that strength that she dedicated herself to keeping her family alive by any means that were not relying on the merchant and con man who had ruined their lives. Though the difficult of such a task was hardly easy and the challenge changed throughout ever day thereon as it seemed she would be doomed to the life of a street urchin. There were days where she wanted to end it all and wallow in the shadows of the Hyrule cemetery— to take the sword of her ancestors and kill herself as well as what remained of her family before the gods in an act of desperate hopelessness. Her father’s stories about heroism, prevailing against the darkness, and the mythic tales of the hero of Hyrule himself kept Sibela from not committing such a thing and in the coming years she would come to be glad for it.

In the following weeks, Sibela would find her destiny changed as she picked the pockets of an off-duty guardsman named Ukal who chased the young Hylian straight back to her den where her brothers found themselves starving and in ill shape. Assuming Ukal was going to take back his food and coin from his rucksack she had there in an instant instinctively retrieved the sword she had kept hiding nearby in case she would ever need to use it. Ukal was decidedly amused, but enraged as well—but he was not angered by Sibela, but rather the circumstances where these children would need to do such a thing. It was there he adopted the children before him and began his odd mentorship of Sibela herself. It was here not too long after Sibela had considered ending their lives that they found their hope and a new home to live in, it nearly broke the young girl’s emotions flat.

Ukal saw great promise in the child who wielded a sword to protect herself and others with no hesitation, and knew great things would come out of her if he could guide her. This would in part begin Sibela’s training to become a guardsman in the shadow of this mentor that Ukal would become—though it would be several years before she would join the ranks of that aforementioned guard. Her soon-to-be mentor’s training was admittedly fierce and unforgiving, but she knew that if she could survive her father’s death at the hands of a vicious murderer then she could power through this and perhaps bring Mozas to justice much like Ukal brought other motley criminals to justice every day. Sibela never complained about it, her eyes on the end goal of bringing her nemesis to justice and her father’s death avenged.

Several years later, Sibela found herself recruited to be a member of the town guard of the capital. Within the early years within the guard she found her training by Ukal had prepared her far greater than others of her equivalent age who had only been taught the basics by the required training courses. Sibela’s drive for justice given to her from her childhood earned her a rigid reputation from the younger recruits who were more loose and playful, who had only joined the guard for the income that it provided (even if said income was not too grandiose); said rigid reputation was shot back with ire by the female Hylian who found her youthful comrades as “lazy” and “lacking purpose and drive”. In the early years of her role as a guard she found herself investigating Mozas himself, which had become a decrepit old man who had nearly lost all of what he had only a decade and a half earlier; an appearance that made Sibela nearly amused with pity. It wasn’t an easy job and turning Mozas in helped a bit of her pain, though his former partners in crime were still out there and the ones that played a part in her father’s death and ruin would be ones she would spend a near decade bringing down.

Time had passed, and her mentor had retired—her brothers were adults now, fashioning into careers of their own (Rokon had become an adventurer like his grandfather and Dozal had become a hiresword for a reputable guild) and much of the justice that she had vowed to bring had been brought. Mozas sat in a Hylian stockade and much of his accomplices had fallen into a similar fate, disappeared, or died resisting arrest. It was here and now that a new call to arms was voiced by none other than the Queen herself out of worry of the hero of the realm with his disappearance. What would be more noble than to find the hero himself?

Weaponry:
Requiem: The weapon most comfortable in Sibela’s hands and also qualifies as a dynastic heirloom that her grandfather had used during his adventures within the realm. Requiem is a Hylian Long Sword pressed in steel and faded with the colors of the kingdom—the royal blue and gold being hardly vibrant to the eye due to age and worn nature of the hilt. Requiem is meant to be wielded alongside a shield, though her grandfather used it with two hands. Despite the national colors, there is nothing regal about the sword itself and only the most foolish lowborn man or woman would assume otherwise.

Hylian Shield: Not an expected weapon, Sibela’s former mentor trained her to use it like one as the unexpected utility of an item can lead to saving one’s life in tricky situations. The dexterity and strength wielded by her training and experience has led her to be adaptable and confident in many scenarios where she could’ve found herself in perilous danger.

Additional Equipment:
Cloak: Protects Sibela from harsh weather, cold temperature, and serves as a makeshift blanket when needed.

Knife & Canteen: Attached to her belt is a canteen of water and a knife for quick defense or utility.

Rucksack: Carries individual supplies and equipment that can’t be attached directly to her belt. Said supplies included include small supply of food rations, a sleeping roll for comfort in the field, and a sharpening tool for blades.

Skills & Talents:
Sibela is a soldier, or more particularly a guardsman by profession and reputation. This includes a variety of talents and skills that lends her to fight against criminals effectively and efficiently. When it comes to a straight fight, she may be one of the most talented of Hyrule’s city guard falling below skill made by experience or pedigree; Sibela is not a knight, and she does not have the wealth of education that comes with that pedigree. Using swordplay and even unorthodox techniques with a shield is where Sibela’s core attributes of talent lie. She has never touched a bow, and is barely competent with a spear. As aforementioned she can utilize unorthodox tactics and techniques to even a playing field though she is fine in more traditional methods as her guardsman training allowed.

Much like adventurers, outside of civilization she has been expected to know how to maintain and repair her weapons and armor despite not being blacksmiths or metalworkers. Additionally she has found herself a competent and perceptive inquisitor when it comes to people and how their train of thought works as well as places people hide items or intend to ambush individuals from – said ability lends her to a perceptive eye and ear.

Sibela also had some experience on the streets within the slums of Hyrule's capital and thus has found herself having a degree of survival skills that lends well to wit, guile, and stealth.

Name:
Nalani Kalone

Race:
Rito

Age:
27

Appearance:
A slim Rito of unusual appearance despite his harsh trade. White hair cascades from his scalp in waves, shaping around his face in an unearthly aura. Cruel fate cursed the man with a stature of only five feet furthering comments of his femininity. Lips that scowl, plush and beckoning stun many an enemy. A figure of grace, untouched and unmarred at first glance bears scars closer to his heart. Tales of near-death and swift escape cries-cross his chest and legs. Feathers to match hair, white as gulls across coast and soft as a Cuccos' breast. Garments resemble that of the generic Rito guard, albeit with several alterations. Modified for a greater range of movement and procurement of weapons. Several pouches filled with various volatile materials are sewn into the cloth to provide a quick escape from lethal situations.

Snowpeak Mountain

Biography:
No one thought any two people were more in love than that of Meloni and Jecht. Meloni: a respected disciple of the Wind Temple and an exemplary example of the gentleness of the Rito. And the man that lived the dream, a respected member of his clan tasked with the most dangerous of deliveries. The tales of their meeting were that of fantastic exaggeration.

The story most closely tied to the truth begins with an urgent delivery straight through the heatscape of Goronia. A dangerous region for any Rito, Jecht took it with pride and steeled himself for the task. The journey was arduous, lasting several days, depriving him of water and consciousness many a time. When he seemed closest to death, he arrived only barely guided by the spirit of Valoo into the safety of the Wind Temple. Upon wakening he encountered her face. One like many others, yet struck a chord within him. There was something more in those eyes.
That something was difficult to draw from the demure lady, and it took many years for them to be more than just friends or close acquaintances. It grew slowly as good things do, untiring and sure. They wed in spring, beneath the cool winds with Valoo's grace bestowed upon them.

It was oft said that any offspring would serve as one of the finest mailmen or perhaps even greater, an adventurer.
Misfortune dashed across those dreams in the form of a raid of bandits, crossing the mountains in pursuit of glory. Left in its wake was the death of a well-loved wife and an empty space where a child once was. One of the members a Gerudian female, took in the baby with the ultimate goal of raising it to be a strong member of the bandits. Her fellow companions laughed at her sentiment but stilled at the wrath of their leader.

For years Nalani knew nothing but a small cave and his mentor Kanoa. No family, little love. Only his blood spilt as he worked harder and harder toward some unknown goal. He helped strangers, always strangers with various tasks, such as raids, stocking and strategizing till his hands bled. They saw something in him, something they called "tactical prowess" . He could not fathom it on even his sharpest of days. Fitted with a collar he sometimes fought along with them until they could retrieve the spoils and then abandoned. Loneliness festered in him, becoming apprehension, and soon hate. How could he learn to fly with such clipped wings? His ambition knew no focus, only that something needed to be done, but not knowing what.

Freedom shone against a forgotten blade, left behind at night, piercing the heart of his mentor by dawn. He knew no guilt then, only the clean breeze of fresh air. The heady rush of adrenaline faded as his hunger rose, he started to hunt, using what she had taught him. His path was wild, dripping with solitude and the blood of the dead he hunted. Soon even the beasts could not satisfy him. He wanted more, always more. Stumbling upon society was not his intention, for he had finally learned to fly. It was only chance that had landed him in the capital, bewildered by stone and the cuffs around his hands when he was arrested for public indecency. Resistance was futile, he knew as much from his teachings about "the law". He cared not for the pedestrian life he was told to hunt in his earlier years, but yet did not want to become what he had been taught to be.

His first words were an inquisition on where he could kill something. A few days later he was directed to the nearest guild, and then told they did not accept his kind before shoving him out the door with a few rupees for compensation. Considering going back out in search of something more threatening than the civility surrounding him, he encountered a thief upon his person and promptly thrust a blade its skull. He caught the attention of the guild that a few days ago had shunned him and was swiftly indoctrinated into the ranks. Caring not for alliance, he went along simply for the action he was promised. Disappointment rarely crossed his mind in the years that followed. Every few days a fresh new target, each unique and exciting in their own ways. Even being assigned for a quest as the guild's representative presents its own challenge, one which Nalani is sure he will savor.

Weaponry:
Sword Breaker: A high quality long dagger used to combat common sword users. It has multiple grooves that when caught, can break a sword with a swift twist. A difficult weapon to use, Nalani still has many difficulties using it on its own and find it needs repair more often than a regular dagger due to its specialized grooves.

Kanoa: A Dirk used in conjunction with the sword breaker for piercing power, standard issue from the guild.
Average quality steel with a leather strap hilt. Has no guard and is useless in a defensive sense. Named after his mentor, it shares the harsh edge and brutality of it's namesake.

Additional Equipment:
Caltrops: Four-sided spikes meant to deter pursuers and surprise enemies. Always lands with one point facing upwards.

Smoke Bombs: Hidden in the pocket sewn into his uniform, these are a last resort, as their are very few and he does not have the knowledge to make more.

Food and Drink: Satchel containing 3 day's rations and a canteen of water. Food is mostly dried and salted meats.

Skills & Talents:
Hunting: Nalani was taught to survive by himself at a very young age, albeit unwillingly.

Fighting Style: He fights usually by tactics, using the area around him to his advantage when he cannot outright eliminate an enemy. Not afraid to back away from fights to recuperate and plan a better approach.

Flight: Minor skills because his wings were constantly clipped while they were forming. He is able to fly by himself for some time, but cannot bear the weight of others.

-A very limited knowledge of geography makes him most often lost when he does not plan ahead.

-Has very little sense of smell.
