Archetype: Atlantian
Name: R'olyt - Pronounced r-ohl-it - Adopted name Roland
Alias: Kraken
Age: 19
Powers:
- The Ability to dive and swim through soil, earth and natural rock. Roland is physically able to dive into these materials and swim through it as if it were water. This is enabled through his enchanted necklace.
- Slight water manipulation. Roland is able to turn solids into a water like substance and very slightly control water with his mind. The solids revert back to their natural state after Roland has stopped touching them. Also enabled by his enchanted necklace.
- Telepathy with sea animals
- Fish physiology. This is a broad term that includes a number of different abilities.
- Breathing underwater
- Seeing underwater and in extremely dark areas
- Swim exceedingly quickly
- Survive great pressure and cold
- Enhanced hearing
- Enhanced durability. Roland's durability is a bit finicky. Blunt objects and attacks do a lot more damage to him than precise sharp ones. For example, a bullet or a knife would only leave a scratch on him, but a bat to the face, while doing less than it would to a normal person, will still damage him quite a bit.
Equipment:
- Enchanted necklace - Bears his family sigil - Enables him to swim through soil, earth and natural rock and manipulate water.
- Dual daggers - Two curved daggers made from a stone hardened by pressure found at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
Weaknesses:
- Blunt objects and attacks.
- He cannot swim through anything other than the materials listed.
- Naive - Still doesn't know a huge amount about the upper world, cars and guns still confuse him.
Alignment: Hero
Personality: Honest, naive, cunning, eager, fun
Appearance:
Roland stands at a short 3 foot 7 and is rather skinny under all the baggy clothes he wears. His knowledge of clothing is limited to say the least, and he takes his style from the American ambassador who he met upon first surfacing. The man was old to say the least, and basically picked out a combination between things that were popular in the 80s and things that just work in any time period and gave them to Roland.
His clothes now consist of mostly loose fitting black shirts coupled with black trousers on top of blue high-top trainers. He also wears a keffiyeh like scarf around his head, as his appearance often gives a fright to those who haven't met him yet.
He doesn't really have a costume, it's obvious who he is from the get-go so hiding his identity seems pointless. He does, however, bring his scarf up to cover his mouth, so he can be confused with the numerous other fish people that are no doubt walking the surface world.
BRIEF Bio:
Roland, or R'olyt as he is formally known, was born in a place called The Dark Caves. The Dark Caves are a system of connected caves within the deepest point of the Mariana Trench. The Dark Caves are partially filled with water and partially dry, leading to evolution creating a race of fish people who went on to create an entire civilization within these caves. Tribes were formed and destroyed, armies came and went and finally the N'ilyt people as they became known were united under one monarchy.
This monarchy has lasted for centuries and is well respected within The Dark Caves. Roland is the son of king Ke't and queen Maedra. He was raised in lavish and luxury, being showered with gifts and high quality food. And for good reason, when he was of age he was to be the very first N'ilytian to visit the surface. The N'ilytians had visited before, although with much less fanfare and much more horror. Fortunately enough though, one strange American author met a N'ilytian and was inspired to write a book because of the experience.
Unfortunately, the expedition divided a great deal of N'ilytians. Many opposed the journey as they believe that humans would invade The Dark Caves, or were just plain racist. Nevertheless, the expedition went ahead, and at the young age of 18 Roland was sent up to the world, surfacing in North Carolina and meeting the American, British and Russian ambassadors who had rushed out to meet him.
They took their turns convincing him to make home in each of their countries, but Roland eventually decided on America, solely because one of the first things he did after surfacing was try pizza, something which he didn't and still doesn't know you can get just about anywhere.
He was roped into being a superhero after discovering that he had many abilities humans did not, and has been helping in whatever way he can ever since.
Storylines:
* Fighting some sort of political assassin group who want to destroy the monarchy of The Dark Caves
* Integrating with society - sort of just something as the plot goes along
