I really fucking hate it. I've been sunburned pretty bad in the past so maybe that's a factor, but being in the sun makes me extremely uncomfortable and anxious. It's worse when I'm driving and the sun is shining in through the window and I can't get away, I feel trapped. I actually feel violated if I have to unexpectedly be in direct sunlight and I'm not prepared (by wearing sunscreen or clothes to protect my skin). And it takes me a while to feel emotionally prepared to go outside on a sunny day for more than a few minutes at a time.

I know plenty of people prefer overcast, rainy days, or even night over sunny days but this seems a little extreme to me and I don't understand it. It sounds crazy even to me when I put it into words. I'm only bringing it up now because I just had a breakdown over it. I said I was going to mow my elderly neighbor's lawn for her (I do that sometimes) but I couldn't bring myself to leave the house. Instead I laid on the floor and cried.

I don't know what the hell to do about it.

Talk to your doctor? That sounds like either an actual phobia, or like sunlight is affecting you way more than it should on a physical level. Some people's skin is extra sensitive to it and stuff, and you might be able to do something about it.

I do prefer overcast days too. I think for me I have enough English blood that the entire lack of sunlight thing doesn't effect me in a negative depressy way, and I know overcast days have a way of milding out the temperature so an overcast day in the summer is cooler while an overcast day in the winter is warmer. I also really really hate heat.

That being said, yeh, if a dislike of sunlight is more than just grumbling and fatigue then you might want to see someone.

The AC is on so low in the house now these days I would honestly much rather feel the summer warmth.

Sounds like a short story I wrote once about this person who felt like they were being physically strangled by sunlight whenever it hit them head on.
