@Orlan Hi there! I really like the concept and you are welcome to join. Thing is you won't start on the ship, but after the crew is done with the hyperspacetravel they should be able to take on passengers again. I'll PM you about it if you dont spoil it to the others ^^

So I am heading out for a holliday on the 4th of august. I don't really have the intention of posting weekly there, but I might be able to. Things have slowed down and there might be a good deal of intereaction between your characters now, otherwise I can set you up to meet a new member ^^ if he is in.

Now I'll ask:

I had serious difficulties understanding what frapet wrote when he took over my character briefly, so... is it too difficult to understand Fixer's lines?

I'm well aware of one fact: The forum's in english, the droid speaks half german, and I am Spanish. Which means I can fall in a LOT of mistakes.

As much as I love the creativity of the "German" droid, yes, it is rather difficult to read at times because I find myself going over the same lines of dialogue a few times just to understand what I'm reading.

It's fine if your character's accent is supposed to be thick, but you don't have to translate just how thick it is into your dialogue, lol. I'd suggest mixing real words with a few "accented" words just to keep things consistent. Overall though, you want your reader to be able to read what you are writing :)

One thing you could do in the story, is perhaps Fixer finds a voice modulator (or whatever you want to call it) in a pile of parts, has one of the crew install it (or he installs it himself) and it allows him to speak Basic more clearly. Of course there may be a few words here and there he can't interpret, but for the most part it would be easier to understand.

Anyway, hope that helps :)

The real question is, why would the German language exist in the first place? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't SW's alien languages fully made up instead of being borrowed from real life ones?

Also, I've been away for a while and have no idea what's going on on the ship.. Could someone give me a rundown of the situation so I can write an update on Krus?

@Azazaa I just chalk it up to Fixer speaking Not!German, just like all of our characters speak in Not!English.

We jumped to hyperspace and are currently en route to Bergen's Haven, which is a resupply station for smugglers, mercs, or anyone doing things that would be considered less than legal. Ship's busted up in a few spots, our mysterious guests are trying to figure out where they're headed by trying to find Jacque, Fixer's trying to fix, and Jacque's questioning some of his life choices over a glass of scotch while we prepare to go planet side (at least he will be once my post is done). Only thing I can't really figure out is wether or not Orlan's character, Kyle, is on Bergen's Haven or a separate planet.

Besides, he's not "speaking" the German language so much as its an accent that just happens to sound German. All kinds of species in the SW universe had accents and languages inspired by RL.

I agree, many accents are based on real ones. Mainly because it is quite difficult to imagine accents with personality. You'll not read me IC saying it is german: IIRC, Neimoidian accent is loosely based on japanese accent (at least in english: in spanish Gunray has accent... but I've not the slightest idea which one it is. Probably because nobody told the voice actor which one it was)

Fixer can fix his vocab for 20 minutes, so I think he'll have the screwdriver in hand more often for the moment. Thanks for being sincere with me guys.
