Name: Emmanuel Lovecraft
Title/Nickname: Ernst Leblanc (alias), Traitor of the Arcane Tower (title)
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Profession: Scholar
Trope/Archetype: Wizard Classic

Appearance:
171cm / 5'7"

Equipment:
  • The Apocrypha Grimoire - A tome from the Arcane Tower rumoured to hold the secrets of the gods. Before he was banished from the tower, he stole it and used its powers to survive execution. The elders of the Arcane Tower want to get it back, and have agents pursuing him for it. While he has used part of its content to increase his own magical abilities and survive a curse that should have destroyed his soul, a portion of its content still remains a mystery to him.
  • Standard Staff - Due to being an outcast of the Arcane Tower, he was never given a proper magic staff since he never graduated. As a result of this, he had to use his innate wisdom and resolve to compensate and be able to rival other mages in a casting duel.
  • Wizard Attire - Conventional robe and pointed hat garments commonly associated with users of the magic arts. Note that despite the above picture having the hat worn over his back, he often wears it on his head like a conventional wizard.

Background: Adopted into the Arcane Tower, the place where many of the world's greatest court wizards hail from and considered a bastion of wisdom and sacred ground where only the chosen may tread, he possessed a prodigy-like understanding of the magical arts ever since he was a youth, and under the tutelage of his mentor developed these talents until his teacher was killed during a mysterious conspiracy within the Arcane Tower related to an ancient tome. Over the following years, he brought unconventional ideas about the magic arts and how one could develop them, but was never taken seriously due to his age and was eventually banished from ever becoming a true wizard. During this time, he stole the ancient tome after he discovered part of the conspiracy within the Arcane Tower, and the elders placed a curse on him that he only survived because of the magical powers within the tome. Escaping from the elders, he has been on the run ever since.

Pros:
  • Wisdom beyond his years, granting him powers rivalling those of the highest ranked magic wielders. His arcane insight and generally vast intelligence mean that, while physically limited (he is more encumbered as opposed to being weak), he is usually able to outwit and adapt to his opponents and even handle a direct confrontation so long as he avoids taking damage. These mental capabilities also mean he is able to read the people and events around him with piercing accuracy, much of the world being an open book to him. They also mean he possesses highly advanced learning for anything that draws his obsession, and he can understand deeply complex and abstract concepts almost intuitively.
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in dealing with magical, undead, demonic, divine, and extra-dimensional entities.
  • Conviction and devotion to his goals and principles, with a will and resolve that are virtually unbending. Easily the type of person whose endurance and fortitude would result in him dying before he willingly stayed down in a fight, and he's generally quite fearless. The opinions of others seldom impact him, and his resilience is matched by very few.

Cons:
  • The elders of the Arcane Tower placed a curse on him that sealed much of his powers. He is currently unable to use his more powerful incantations, such as summoning magic, without penalties, whereas normally he could use them freely.
  • He suffers from poor health, so without his magic making him superhuman he would not have very long to live. He needs to use some of his magic at all times to remain healthy, otherwise his sickness would become worse.
  • Possesses notoriously bad luck.

Other:
  • He frequently takes on the appearance of a much older wizard (known as 'Ernst Leblanc') whenever he needs to remain incognito (since he is on the run from a powerful organization) or if he needs to make sure that his opinion is taken seriously (he is incredibly used to establishments not respecting his wisdom merely based on his age and the fact that he never officially graduated as a wizard).
  • The curse placed on him by the elders is something he can resist against with his will, but it still sealed much of his power when it failed to destroy his soul. His ability to resist against it is the only reason he has any magic at all now, but he is currently searching for a way to break the seal completely.

Name: Vekyzz
Title/Nickname: -
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Race:
Appearance: As an individual he is an imposing figure: The man stands about 7 feet 2 inches tall (excluding the horns) and is packed with dense, voluminous muscles.
Trope/Archetype: The Big Guy

Profession: He doesn't really have one. He's basically become a survivalist capable of living off the wild land. He still seldomly accepts more or less shady jobs, but more for fun than out of necessity.

Background: Vekyzz has never experienced the freedom of having parents that keep you nourished and well-kept during your childhood. He hasn't even experienced the luxury of never having to switch the world one's living in, allowing as much time as possible to adapt. He was thrown into this realm by a mage craving for power, but the first thing that happened is another case of the scientist-runs-an-experiment-without-preparation-for-the-case-it-yields-exactly-the-outcome-he's-hoping-for trope. The summoner doesn't live anymore, killed in an instantaneous act of outrage. Unfortunately, Vekyzz thereby has also slain his only hope of returning - or at least the only one he knows about. Being doomed to continue living the life that had just started to exist, the demon started roaming the land.

Equipment:
  • What would he be without his trusty, colossal, vintage looking sword ? Technically it isn't even really a sword, but merely an outstanding piece of mechanical butchery consisting of a thick piece of sheet metal that was ground to have a sharp edge on one side while the other was bolted to a large handle. It's purely makeshift.
  • An equally impressive collection of... one might be tempted to say 'garbage', but let's just call it an armor consisting of pieces of leather, fur and cloth stacked upon another and combined and held together with chains. It covers most of his body.
  • A cheap, but complete set of 'civil' clothing.

Pros:
  • + Very strong and tough. He's capable of moving and lifting things an ordinary human couldn't dream of.
  • + Rather intelligent, though not outstandingly.

Cons:
  • - His appearance. When people see him, prices go up, and when he leaves, they go down again as if by magic. He's really not far from being an outcast and scorn can be achieved by a wide variety of methods.
  • - He's lean and wouldn't consider himself particularly tall or heavy. By human standards however he is a crushing, walking tower and thereby prone to more or less embarrassing accidents. Furniture, badly maintained buildings and the like aren't exactly designed for him.
  • - He's inexperienced with this world and the habits, traditions and reasoning of its inhabitants. The negative impact of this has considerable lessened since his 'arrival', but is still noticeable.

Name: Faerveren Kearney
Title/Nickname: Her father first started calling her Fae, and most people end up calling her that too. Other elves will refer to her by her full given name.
Age: 97, but appears to be 24.
Gender: Female.
Race: Half breed elf. Human father and high elven mother.
Profession: Alchemist
Trope/Archetype: Our Elves Are Different

Appearance:

161cm / 5'3"

Equipment:
  • A wooden bow that has been hand painted with flowering vines all over it and an enchanted quiver of arrows.
  • Alchemists bag of supplies (herbs, supplements, essences, potion bottles).
  • An opal gemstone pendant on a delicate golden chain. It was given to her by her father for her 18th birthday. Other than sentimental value, it holds no power.

Background: Faeveren’s parents, Malrin and Samuel had first met when she’d found him gravely injured in the woods surrounding her clan. He’d been in a recent skirmish and his group had left him for dead. She nursed him back to health, and well, the rest is history. Malrin was a member of the highest council and marrying a human would have meant exile from the clan, but because she had done so much for them, they had made a sort of exception for her and her family. Fae was brought up to be well rounded in many subjects but she had taken an extreme liking to Alchemy. Samuel insisted she know how to defend herself, and taught her basic sword fighting skills and Malrin taught her archery. Fae had never liked close combat, so she chose to continue her studies in archery later. Just as she had begun to mature in elven years, mortal time had caught up with her father and he passed away when she was 65. For years, Fae struggled with the idea that her and her mother would long outlive her father, but she was never quite ready for the day that would eventually come. To this day, she continues to grieve.

The other elves of the clan had been chatting in hushed tones about the halfblooded girl since the day she was born, so she had become used to the sideways glances and the hesitant smiles. But after she’d met Ernst, it got worse. After Fae consulted with her mother, Malrin came to terms with her daughter’s wish to leave the clan and go out on her own. She told Fae that she was welcome home any time, but Fae had a feeling that it may be a while before she returned. She spent some time with the wood elves (as they were less narcissistic and more openly friendly to outsiders than the high elves were) and honed her skills. With her knowledge of alchemy, she sold potions to other travelers as she went from town to town, meeting new people and learning new alchemic recipes.

Pros:
  • Potions/Alchemy Mastery from many years of hard work and practice.
  • Despite retaining a youthful purity and having the appearance of one who is still learning, she has experience and intelligence long over a normal human.
  • Her overall demeanor is a very likeable one. She’s warm-hearted, compassionate and wins over those around her. She also happens to be very proficient at the ‘‘puppy dog eyes’’.

Cons:
  • She tends to always think the best in people (even if they are well known to others to not be so) and often, thinks of others before herself. So much so that the idea of self-care becomes a second thought to her in a dangerous situation. These traits in smaller amounts are usually considered pros, but as the saying goes: “Too much of a good thing…”. Going out of her way to assist others earned her a bit of scorn from her mother’s clan.
  • She’s incredibly self-deprecating and very hard on herself. She tends to apologize for everything, even if she didn’t do anything wrong, and will blame herself for something going wrong, no matter if she’s alone or with a party.
  • For an elf, she has a lot of phobias. She suffers not only from a fear of large crowds, but also claustrophobia in dark, unfamiliar places, and skeletons. Sometimes she would travel at sunset just to avoid the crowds of people who usually come out during the day. Her overarching shyness also drives her tendencies to move around at less crowded times. Travel at night in new territories is only possible with adequate lighting. These fears produce a tightness in her chest which makes it harder to breathe and extreme cases will cause a tearful breakdown.

Other: Faerveren offered an old wizard by the name of Ernst Leblanc some food and a place to stay while he was on his pilgrimage. In return, he enchanted her quiver of arrows so that she may never run out. Shortly after he had left, word of Faerveren’s generosity had spread to the other elves and she soon became the topic of conversation for aiding one who was of an "inferior race". This irritated her to no end, as she was half-blooded human herself and had already been the subject of mockery due to this fact. Only because of her mother’s status within the clan was she allowed to live at her current residence. She was already on the verge of leaving; citing the other elves constant criticism of other races and insulting those of lower intelligence, but this was the final straw.

FickleSickle Dark Knight

Name: Baldwin Voidblade
Title/Nickname: The Exiled
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Profession: Death Knight
Trope/Archetype: Black Knight
Equipment:

- Dragondeath: A greatsword of pure evil capable of radiating dark energy, it can release waves of darkness at its master's command. Should it be broken or lost, it will return to him within 24 hours fully repaired.

- Black Armor: Other than that, he wears a set of black metal knight's armor that completely covers his body; adorned with a stylish white tattered cape. Image for reference.

Background: Once fought for the king of a far off land, but left after being framed for attempted assassination on them. Painted his armor black in rebellion and sought the dark powers of the Dragondeath blade. Ready now as a Death Knight, he wanders in search of a new life as a mysterious and intimidating warrior.

Pros:

- Intimidating: His gruff voice and intimidating demeanor and posture peg him as someone to be feared and respected.

- Swordsmanship: As the former soldier of a king, his swordplay is far above that of a common man and rivals the finest of knights.

- Unyielding: With the level of stamina he's attained moving in that armor without ever taking it off, some would almost consider him something other than human. His drive to keep moving and stay alive is unbelievable for a human.

Cons:

- Honorbound: Baldwin is a man of high honor, and if he is ever challenged to a duel, he cannot turn it down even in the most dire of circumstances. He will actively attack anyone who tries to interfere between him and his opponent, as well; friend and foe alike.

- Gynophobia: A phobia he never got over was his crippling fear of women. Young, old, whatever. He gets real quiet and shuts down real fast when a woman is in conversation with him. The only exception is when he's forced into a fair and honorable duel against a woman.

- Dragondeath: Ever since his quest for power began he's been obsessed with it. Its evil charms him, keeps him loyal and in line. Should anyone try to steal it or even worse - should it be broken or lost somehow - he will be sent into an unstoppable rage against the person who caused it. He will also stop at nothing to retrieve even a single piece of the blade to regain his sanity.

Other: Despite being a Death Knight he would still be fully willing to tag along with a party of heroes to fulfill his quest for power.

Name:
Gegory Greyrose
Title/Nickname:
Lord
Age:
24
Gender:
Male
Race:
half-Orc
Profession:
Wealthy lord looking for experience rather than riches
Trope/Archetype:
Often mistaken for a necromancer, he is actually the charmer.
Appearance:
6'6" and 150 lbs, he is a willowy thing compared to most.

Equipment:
After being cut-off, the only thing he was allowed to take with him is a scepter fitted with dragons teeth which he uses to focus his magic for greater power. Otherwise he has his fine quality clothing and the horse he rode in on sidesaddle.
Background:
Being a half-orc in a human land is difficult to say the least, being the bastard son of a noble is even harder. His mother was Lady Greyrose, former knight of the silver wheel order. His father was an orc warrior who fought alongside her order to stem back a giant invasion. One night of far too much vidali (onion wine) to drink she had a moment of weakness and nine months later her son was born.
He was an ugly baby and lady greyrose was reluctant to nurse him with those tusks of his already in his mouth when he was born, not unlike a wild boar. As much as she might blame his orc father, in truth, the real darkness comes from the greyrose family line.
Lord Archibald Grey, Grgory's great grandfather, was given his title for his services to the crown in the great war of his time against a vampire coven from the black forest. He had suffered a bite to his leg in that time and was doing all he could to keep the change at bay. He drank only holy water and prayed in the church for three months before he changed. During that time, he fell into passion with a nun in the church and married her properly before he became a monster. Their wedding night, lady grey's father, Gregorio was conceived and Lord Grey turned to ash with the morning light.
That undead bloodline would manifest itself many years later as the boy was surrounded by strange happenings, things falling from shelves and an unnatural amount of dead animals on the property. Lady greyrose sent for specialists of arcane and divine to see if they were besieged by ghosts or the like; what they came back with is that Gregory was a sorcerer, a type of mage that did not study dusty old tomes but drew on his own natural arcane talents. Not being something he could be taught, it made the random happenings even more stressful as he came into his own over the years.
In order to keep his mother happy, he tried to focus on making her happy, magically. His powers focused on manifesting charms and enchantments. As well intended as it was, when Lady grey discovered his magical focus could lead to the speculation that he could manipulate her into doing his bidding, she chose to exile him for one year so that he could adventure to gain real experience far away from her.
Pros:
Placating: he is silver tongue into telling people what they want to hear even without magic,
Magic: Focused on enchantment and charm spells (friendship, sleep, flaming weapon)
Undead heritage: Being the great grandson of a vampire, his magic can effect undead as well (usually undead are either too mindless or caught up in their own ordeals to be a valid target)
Cons:
Sycophant: He is a bit submissive to help others, lacking self-confidence even with his powerful will to manifest magic. The easeist way to break him is to make him question himself and others.
Squishy: Most mages are glass cannons, fragile yet devastating, but he is more like a fireworks display with his most harmful spells causing an enemy to fall fast asleep in the middle of combat for someone else to finish off.

Name: Baxxink Hagglepocket.
Title/Nickname: Often known as “That bastard who stole my money”, but it’s a bit long for a nickname.
Age: 36.
Gender: Male.
Race: Goblin.
Profession: Thief.
Trope/Archetype: The sneaky guy
Appearance:

Equipment:
Clothes - for wearing.
Dagger - for stabbing.
Short bow + quiver of arrows - for long distance stabbing.
Fake beard - (special item) for camouflage.

Background: Baxxink was born into a goblin community like most goblins, and like most goblin communities it was violently destroyed by a troupe of adventurers that passed by looking for treasure. As one of few survivors Baxxink had to use his natural gifts of stealth and agility to fill his stomach and set out on the path he’s been on until now.

Pros:
Stealthy - can move silently and stick to the shadows very well.
Quick and agile - clawed fingers (and toes), low weight, long limbs and a greater range of movement compared to humans means that Baxxink has a lot of options for movement.
Cunning - not clever, smart or intelligent, Baxxink’s mind is focused on finding and exploiting weaknesses.

Cons:
Soft - doesn’t wear a lot of padding, things will hurt.
Hated race - have you ever heard someone say “Oh, please come in mister Goblin, how nice to meet you, would you like some pie?” Didn’t think so.
Remember, no magic - goblins are magically retarded.

Other: Things will go missing around Baxxink.
