Oh no, I think pirate pad is super good to plots like this. Without pirate-pad and giant collabs this RP would die faster.
Traditional sense RP-ing? That traditional sense RP-ing is what makes RPs die fast. You have post after post of actions and half-assed dialogue since everyone posts once you can't have a lengthy conversation and interaction and everything seems rushed and interrupted.
The purpose of the guild is to be a medium for the writers to connect and intertwine their own stories. Piratepad only enhances that.
Hell, if we just all went to piratepad and wrote the whole RP there, it would be better. Posting section after section to clear the pad up after some paragraphs.
How long it took us to write that whole collab? 2-3 days? How long do you think it would've taken if we were all posting separatly? 2-3 weeks?Maybe a month? Since everyone has their own time and agenda when they are available, and everyone in a post by post format always follows an order of post so as not to clot the information and give others a chance to post, just one person being some days behind schedule for posting, then another and another, would kill the RP.
While in piratepad 2 people can just go on and on with their conversations and actions before making the key action that requires another person to participate who is currently unavailable. When that person comes they can progress the RP but their absence didn't hinder any character development or other actions in general as you find in post by post.
