I never noticed how much Mary Poppins made chimney sweeping sound fun.

I just realized I would hate to do that job...

I feel bad because I started to wonder about life and musical mysteries. It hurts my brain.

Well don't worry adults and teens wouldn't do it. They are far too big!
4-9 year olds where mostly used because they where small enough.

Stepping off the wooden vessel, the St. Christopher, Shaleer gripped his stomach, not at all acustomed to the sea's motions. Upon gaining his composure, a thick smell of sea salt stung his snose and compellled him to get away from the docks and towards any of the buildings before him. He began walking for the Red Dwarf Inn until the magnificant tower caught his eye. He stepped off his path to pause one of the guards leaving the tower.

With a questionable smile and a distinct accent, Shaleer asked the guard, "I don't mean to impede, but what's so important about that tower that it warrants all you guards?"

If Shaleer successfully coaxed the guard into telling him about the tower, he would continue towards the inn.

Margerae nodded and smiled at the man, she handed him three gold and sat down as she paid him another three for a drink hoping that it would be enough. "Thank you sir." She said, as she looked around again she shrugged and looked down at the gold on the table. "Well I'll be going to my room, use the extra three to pay for someone's drink. Or just keep it." She smiled and took her key if she was given one and headed to her room.

Once she got there she smiled and opened the door examining the room and deciding to set up a small alchemy table, she locked the door and started to make healing potions with her spell components. If it worked she would put the potions in her bag and start to explore the town. Mostly the area around the guard tower, if she didn't see anything of interest she would try to find the message board.

If it didn't work she would shrug and take down the set and lock the door to her room before going downstairs and and leaving to find the message board.

You are a group remember maybe you should stay with them atleast a little bit ? XD
You don't have too but its just a suggestion.
And being in a group doesn't mean you cant do what you are planning on doing it just means that maybe they could come with you? :p

If you want to stick with this I may have to chop it up a little so that the others can catch up XD

One could for sure say that the interior was a more pleasant sight than the outside. Eryel had already figured it rather futile to attempt, but nonetheless it was worth a shot. "Do you by chance sell herbal tea?" He approached the bartender and sat on a barstool. Besides him was a woman he had traveled with, and she seemed to be in a hurry to get things done. Of course, doing something and getting paid for it was always better time spent than wasting it away at a barstool, but he just arrived in that human city. After having been cursed with the hideous constructions outside, the relatively cosy interior of the Inn wasn't something Eryel was in a hurry to leave behind. "If tea is uncommon in these parts, a cup of water will do." Eryel finished, placing a coin on counter. Soon after the gold hit the wood, Eryel noticed a patron digging into a meat pie. Now that was something he would enjoy. Producing another two coins, Eryel placed them alongside his first payment. "And a pie, please." He spoke.

thanks, and i'd be happy to :3... prepare yourself... i may have a lot of questions...
what would the next one be? (i've been debating making one like this my self but i'm too flaky...)
i noticed you have quite generic races, but what about subraces like dark elves, vampires (not the ones that sparkle), or nords?
i might be the only one that had this problem, but i noticed you never really explained how items would be beneficial outside allowing you to do certain things... wouldn't armor give you a roll to allow for some sort of damage mitigation/negation? or a good weapon give you a bonus to attack damage/hit chance?
how do you handle hit chance and attack? do you roll to see if it hits and then roll to see attack damage or do you just roll to see if it hits for a set amount of damage?
i noticed that you said all chars had cantrips but you never actually listed what they were or what they did, was that intentional or did you want players to make things up? if so, how would you judge whether something was too op if a beginner spell was vastly complex?
how is magic handled? do you have to prepare spells or just cast them if you have the mana?
you listed general descriptions of races but you didn't actually give their bonuses. was this intentional or did you just expect us to assume?

i think that's about it right now... sorry to swamp you, but these have been floating around in the back of my head while i was reading >.>

Apocalypse/Fantasy/Sci Fi
Busy on this one right now but it would be one of those :D

Tyki said i noticed you have quite generic races, but what about subraces like dark elves, vampires (not the ones that sparkle), or nords?

I kept the races nice and easy so to not overcomplicate things. I would probably allow other races but I prefer the characters to be in these set ones as I know how the races react and flow unlike other races I may not know or heard of. The main thing is that this is my first forum rp and so I went for the cliché easy ones XD

Tyki said i might be the only one that had this problem, but i noticed you never really explained how items would be beneficial outside allowing you to do certain things... wouldn't armor give you a roll to allow for some sort of damage mitigation/negation? or a good weapon give you a bonus to attack damage/hit chance?

With all these many things the best thing I can say is that I take into account the equipment and so it would be easier or harder to attack/defend. For example
a naked human being would be wounded/killed by a sword by pretty much anything but a 1 (Which in my book is a critical fail)
A leather bound one may be able to block some of the blow and so 2+ may be needed to wound with a 4+ to lose hp
The best way of describing is that I make it up as I go along.
Further example
Player 1 runs at a goblin spearman.
He uses his agility against the goblins reflex to see if he gets close. I would think about how far away he was from the goblin and lets see it was only a few feet he would only need a 3 to get there.
Player 1 rolls a 5 and so successfully runs in front of the goblin
Player 1 now rolls his melee skill against the goblins reflex.
Player 1 rolls a 3 the goblin rolls a 2 and so the goblin is hit and as the goblin has only one Hp is cleaved in half.

What is needed to roll will change depending on the circumstances.
The reason I do it this way is because it is a lot easier to do it like this rather then making up stats and equations
The players don't really see any of it and so I feel it works better for the flow if my method is used.
Is it completely legitimate. Nope
Does it still give you the same experience?
I hope so.

Tyki said how do you handle hit chance and attack? do you roll to see if it hits and then roll to see attack damage or do you just roll to see if it hits for a set amount of damage?

I think I answered this above.

Tyki said i noticed that you said all chars had cantrips but you never actually listed what they were or what they did, was that intentional or did you want players to make things up? if so, how would you judge whether something was too op if a beginner spell was vastly complex? how is magic handled? do you have to prepare spells or just cast them if you have the mana?

I don't understand what you mean by cantrips.
Depending on the spell will depend how much mana is used and how it is done. The player should ask about a spell and I will give them the information.
I don't want to have a set spell list as I want the player to use magic to help them in situations. If I feel a spell is too advanced for a player I will not allow them to do it.

Tyki said you listed general descriptions of races but you didn't actually give their bonuses. was this intentional or did you just expect us to assume?

I made it so there where really know bonuses on races. You could be a clever orc or a brutish elf. I was just putting the stereotypical race elements in there.

So in conclusion its all aloud of BS which is loosely tied together with dice and common sense.
It isn't perfect but as most of the B.S is behind the scenes (Well it was before you turned up !) I didn't feel It mattered to much aslong as the role-players are enjoying themselves and understand the basics i.e if you roll better then something else you have a better chance of winning against it.

solamelike said many many words

cantrips are common spells like spark being a low damage spell that anyone can learn and use without aid, and i guess sign me up for the next one, but do you think you could simplify the stats ever so slightly? having to allocate to so many stats is what's kinda turning me off to the idea (but i'm trying damnit!)

Usually a simple system is the best system. When several variables take place in a single action, usually several rolls fix that problem. I have played with a few rule systems and some are aggravatingly annoying while others are great. I personally really like the percentage system, but the World of Darkness is also fun, albeit lacking in many more "advanced aspects", however as I mentioned, in the in depths situations in for example a battle, more than one or two rolls with more skills usually get through.
