Originally I avoided that line of thinking because I didn't want the kind of technology to be something that mechs had available to them without being made to test it, but this place was made within the last year and its wouldn't have to be small enough for a mech to use so someone could still have an energy shield as an advancement for their mecha so I guess I will actually go with, the crowd is protected by a giant energy bubble.

You may also notice that I have neglected to think of a way for the crowd to be protected from all this and you'd be right i hadn't thought of that at all. Oops. I should fix that sooner than later.

In the Mech warrior 4 mercenaries game there was just a dome shield around the arena. you could make up something like that, but say that it is too large or consumes too much power to be mounted on a mech.

or, its all being shot by camera drones and cameras mounted to the walls and such.

I think that you may not have seen the posts on the last page. We have gone with an energy bubble and while someone can make a mech with an energy shield as its thing it is in fact being run as too big and energy draining to be used on mechs for now.

I was thinking it would be shot by a mixture of drones and stationary cameras I just haven't gotten around to drawing attention to them over the "studio?" audience and other things.

If you want to avoid overteching, a rather large arena that is completely indoors and generated in a room on top of it via the cameras mentioned above to an audience could solve the issue of having to make a large shield.

A little more on the app, I think I'll chop the raw words down while adding a few functions to the sensor/targeting systems that'll make the mech more competitive.

Could be best to have that fight be completed independently of other players - not really much anyone can do at this juncture as it's your moment. As for me, still bogged by logistics in life and in the CS :p

I think it defeats the point of having an audience at the event if they cannot see the actual action. why not watch it on tv then? Or am I misunderstanding something?

The action's just below and everything is rendered via very expansive cameras - just a suggestion to replace the shield, though since that's what is being run with I suppose it's a moot topic to elaborate upon.

well, i was just going to talk about him checking over his mech and be rude to the light mechs fighting now. but my brain is kinda dry right now (personal nonsense going on). i know i could make a solid post of that stuff, probably in the next few days assuming this other stuff blows over without a hitch.
