Firstly, apolologies - between work and general laziness, I have neglected this RP. However I intend to make amends but there is still one problem, and that is how to begin...which I am also having a problem with.

I have come up with two beginnings that I wish to run past ya'll if that's alright, and you can just say which one you'd prefer.

1) A classic American fair/fayre type deal; brass bands, stands, a ribbon across the bulk of one of the ships that'll be cut with scissors by the President. Then we all get off into the stratosphere.

2) We begin in spaaaaace - cuts out all the initial gumph and sets us up without having to 'set us up'.

So, thoughts?

Indeed, and I know.

I'll be completely honest here - between work and my own mind, I am having a hard time trying to come up with a beginning post for this which, as GM, really puts a brake on the entire thing. I have written up several drafts and then deleted them again, as I just can't decide where I will take it once it gets going. In many of my RPs 'viewer participation' seems to get very limited (although I'm not really sure why) and it then ends up falling to me as the GM to pretty much manhandle it back onto a course of action; this turns out, as one may expect, to be very labour intensive.

Combined with my line of work (fast food :(), the hours, and the fact its the Easter holidays...well...it all gets bit much.

You may be thinking "but JB, I've seen you post in other RP without any trouble, so what the Hell gives?!" And this would simply be because those RPs are part of an established setting/fandom where everything is already laid out for me - as opposed to one that isn't.

Yes, this can be seen as a list of excuses (which in a way it is), but I'd prefer to to be seen more as an update and to say that I've no actually abandoned this RP but am certainly having a bit of a blip at the moment.

@Jbcool I get the difficulty with coming up with a good start. But I wouldn't put so much pressure on yourself in terms of worrying about 'viewer participation'. It seems like we've got a group here that will be pretty involved. I know for me, personally, I always try to push the plot as a player to save the GM some work. The best RP I ever participated in, our GM actually just disappeared and we kept going for probably close to a year. XD

*Deep breath* Well, probably good this didn't start when it was planned because I would have completely poofed on you guys. Shit got real around me and I haven't been in a writing mood for a bit. However, things are getting more into the groove. So, someone is planning on murdering their husband I hear and boy-o-boy there just happens to be a sheriff around to investigate and even a underworld crime writer lady as well. It's almost like a match made heaven! You get all the drama of two people trying to investigate the same crime, one for justice, one for a good story and the woman at the center of it all plus a Russian twin just trying to keep his siter out of the sights of the grumpy sheriff! Add to that all the other issues with being on an unfamiliar frontier, in damned space even, and everything is now looking ready to boil! BAM! Thoughts?

As to your question...

We're just taking off from Earth's atmosphere, the President of the Planetary Council (like an 1800's UN) has just given a 'congratulations and good luck' speech, and our orbiting 'wagon train' of colony ships (probably two dozen civilian ships and a few of mixed nationality military ones) is about to set off for the stars. Each colony 'wagon' is self-contained, but we can communicate through screens much like those from Star Trek.

Imagine this, but IN SPEEEEEEEEESS.

Overall, imagine space like the frontier or the prairie, with Earth as the Eastern United States - whatever lays beyond that prairie is unknown, and we are the pioneers.
