A few things...first off, I'm notoriously bad at GMing roleplays on my own, so there's a good chance that if this goes anywhere I'll need a couple of co-GMs running around to keep me sane, or just give the roleplay over to someone else. Secondly, the big reason I'm putting this out here is because I've been a shy FMA fan for many years but I'm very gradually and cautiously inching my way toward the fandom. This is part of that, and I figured that since ya'll are such big anime fans around here that I'm bound to fish up a few people. There's also a chance this could go in the casual forum since I'm comfortable at that level too, but I have too busy of a schedule to keep up with advanced roleplays.

Also, to be frank, I have no clue what such an RP should be about, so some brainstorming is yet required. Note that if I'm running it, the plot would probably be manga/Brotherhood centric since I'm not a huge fan of the first anime and haven't even watched the whole thing to know all about it (I would be willing to mash together certain aspects from the first anime that I don't mind as much, however, as long as Brotherhood's ending and Homunculus characters/race are canon.)

Soooo yeah, this is basically 'Hey would anyone even ever think about joining something FMA related' at this point and almost nothing else.

EDIT: One possible idea is a more modernish RP based in the series' setting. We know the show takes place in a universe on a parallel timeline to ours, so it might be interesting to see what it looks like forty or fifty years later and how alchemy has affected culture and the advance of technology.

I'm interested, assuming we do keep this manga / Brotherhood-centric. The first anime gets weird and random.

Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks so, I mostly included that because I didn't want to alienate people who are fans of the first one.

Fair enough. I wouldn't mind if enough fans wanted to join. I like to include as many people as possible, but the manga and Brotherhood are soooo much better and organized.

Uh-huh. When I was writing the first post I had to hold back on going on a rant about how Dante will never be canon in anything FMA related that I touch like a silly fangirl, among other things that get under my skin. I was literally going to make a list of things from the first anime that I'd never have as canon no matter what.

I know that feeling. uwu Dante was just a weird character to throw into the mix.

And I just subscribed to the other thread you made as well, so I'll keep up to date. But for now I need sleep, so I'll check back tomorrow

I'd be real interested in this, especially in a staffing capacity.

I will note that I'm only about 7 episodes in though XD

Haha, well then I'll just have to make sure I don't spoil anything. Probably a good thing you told me, I tend to run my mouth when not told otherwise. XP And yes, staffing is always good with a doof like me bumbling around.

Hmm..... 50 years in the future

"The Prodigy Cycle"

It has been years since the brothers Elric stunned the world with their innate ability to work Alchemy with a speed an manner never before known and many thought their like would never be seen again.
That is till the dawning of the year of the Dragon; six years ago three young people were found that could work Alchemy on par with Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse. Since that time those with this uncanny knack for Alchemy have begun appearing in greater number than ever before dreamed.
These young people are sought by the government to become state sanctioned Alchemists and to take their place among the hallowed ranks but the story does not end there as they're are other elements seeking these Prodigy as well, some to kill them as abomination others to turn them toward dark purpose

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

How's that for the begining of a Hook?

I don't like that so much because we have chosen one syndrome right there, and we're gonna have more than three players.

Not to mention the fact that Edward had to give up a leg to cast alchemy the way he does.

Other than that, a group of young alchemists training is great!

Hmm, good point. Well, it's a start. I've always found the best way to work these things is to add everyone's ideas to get the final product. There's a lot more development to do here.

One possible thought is that the characters in the RP saw the truth somehow, that would be interesting to roleplay because then everyone would be missing something.

Well I personally don't mind not being one of the three prodigies. I like to play underdogs and / or antagonists myself.

On top of this, even without human transmutation, you have prodigies: I consider Roy Mustang one. The hatred people give him for being so skilled and so far into his professional career at such a young age is something he managed through hardwork--not trying to bring someone back to life.

@Kidd: Right, but "as strong as Edward Elric" seems to indicate the ability to cast without a circle.

An idea could be a group of people who all tried to do human transmutation, (some of whom failed completely) and say that they have to undergo training to become state alchemists or face punishment for their crimes.

*Claps* Nice character analysis. O-o

Okay to build on my last post then- here's a thought, what if only one of the prodigys saw the truth but that one is hiding it somehow, the others are naturally talented.

EDIT: Ninja'd

Fair enough. I can agree with that.
