I’m not so sure if mankind is all that more sentient than animals. I’ve seen and hear about some really funky, insane stuff that some people do every weekend and it sounds a lot more like what animals do on the Discovery Channel rather than a sentient, intelligent species. The better these people look, the crazier the stories get. After reading this, I went searching for possible Gaia-ish/Lifestream/“Spirit World” (in some sense, I guess we can call it the “Heart of Atlas”) images for possible reference.
Or something like Mushishi’s River of Light.
While fishing for images, I started to also wonder how spirits would perceive the world, so also looked for pictures that might work. For example, if a spirit “looked" at a deer standing in a field with a mountain in the distance, it would look like this:

Oh how I love you, JJ. Haha, your post inspired me to sit down and work on several things concerning the play that I've been avoiding. That and Ex's reassuring words in the pad from the other day. The concept you found is absolutely enchanting! I've got all kinds of crazy ideas now. Just need some time to sort them all!
