Yeahhh, that was disappointing, and on a related note the lack of that exchange between him and Jaime before they parted ways was unfortunate. On the flip side, the Shae part was marvelous and so was the Tywin part aside from that missing line.

I enjoyed what they did with the Hound and Brienne. I was wondering what the fuck they were going to do with the Hound when he didn't follow the same path as the book, and I guess that answered it. Jojen dying was a neat surprise too.

must... not... click the book spoiler

I liked it a lot. things finally happen to characters! Bran is chosen to be the avatar, arya is heading to be inducted into the assassin's guild, tyrion poops on his dad.
Also, Dany does something significant! Kind of. With Jorah's soulful and hilarious "Khaleesi..."s gone she's losing interest from me

"Tywin, my lion"

Varys hopping on the boat to pentos or wherever was neat and unexpected from me.

edit: brienne went full retard. never go full retard.

I'm curious about why they didn't have Arya kill the hound, I felt like it was important for her character arc, that whole bit confused me.

I think it's more important she didn't.

Killing the hound would be showing him mercy. Leaving him there to suffer is kinda disturbing.

I looked up that book spoiler because it was being hyped up. That sucks they didn't throw it in there. Could have been a great add for literally the last scene. Anything to hype it up.

Also Jojen dying is because they left out Coldhands. Who would be cool to see but alas, no Coldhands anywhere.

I have a soft spot for people who are lonely, even if they are shitbags. I felt really sad about Sandor being left to die like that. Alone and suffering. He never had a friend. :(

I think it's worse. He finally had a friend. And she left him there all alone to die.

I still have my fingers crossed that he's alive.

I think Ayra never really was his friend. He thought she was a friend but Ayra didn't return that feeling. So she left him to suffer and die just as he lived. Alone.

Thoughts from a Non-Reader:

1. I found the most heart-wrenching scene to be Dany putting away her dragons. Those two babies weren't doing anything. It was the black/red one and she punishes them.. I really hope that she comes back, because that's disgusting to me. She has the last three dragons. Dragons that weren't even suppose to exist anymore. And she chains them away. My faith in Dany has been completely demolished this season.

2. I found the Tywin/Tyrion scene rather... empty. I don't know what was suppose to be going on there or why I feel like it was lacking, but it was. You have a father and son. A dysfunctional, hateful relationship. And it ends like that? No big reveal? No nothing? Just "You're my son." and "You're not my son", "I am your son." Come on =/

3. Brienne, Arya, and Sandor.... I really enjoyed this part of the show. It pitted two of my most beloved characters against each other and that frightened me. Brienne kicks ass. I feel like, like people have said here, that the Hound really did grow to trust Arya, or at least thought she was a friend. It was a strange father/daughter relationship. I will admit that I cried when she just let him be. Just kill him. Don't let him keep suffering. You're a Stark for Pete's Sake. I'm excited about Braavos, though. :D

4. The Bran, Jojen, and Hodor scenes are so boring to me. I get that they will mean something later on. I realize that they are important. But good grief. I get so flipping bored. Hodor is the best actor out of the group.

In all, not my favorite episode of the season. I enjoyed it a lot, but gosh. Even as a non-reader, I could tell things were shifting oddly.

(Also, the Jon/Ygritte scene. And Jon/Mance.. those were really well done. At least, imho)

Having read a bit about how Tyrion's parts were supposed to go, I am more upset than most about the showrunners leaving out certain things.

I read a lot of "ok, I guess." No. It seemed VERY SIGNIFICANT.

Mostly because they've made so many mistakes already.

These are writers that clearly weren't cut out to handle the material they were given. I'm not trying to oversell the books, but that scene with Grey Worm and dany's handmaiden chick were just shameful. That was some corny bullshit.

Season 1 was relatively tight in execution but 2 was a quick downgrade. I'm thinking maybe they received too much praise too soon so they've been playing fast and loose.

Well, to be honest, you're right where most book readers are after Book 3. Book 3 answered a lot of questions, closed a few doors, and ripped open plenty of new ones, and left a bunch of things unanswered.

It may seem that Book Readers have a better understanding of things in the show, but that's only due to the fact that we're two books ahead in the story. We can see a little further down, we know where Bran's story is going, for example. We know (at least some of) what will eventually happen to Dany and her dragons. It makes it easier to bide our time with the stories now, to get to the stories in the future that we know are coming.

I did feel the episode was sorely lacking the line between Tyrion and Twyin,

And also I did miss the entrance of our favorite zombie. I can't understand why you'd want to push that off until next season, it's such a great way to end this one. Sad.

Tysha being removed from the story is disappointing, but I guess we learned that before this episode.

The most exciting scene was Stannis' arrival in the North.
