Well, that's unfortunate. I guess if Bukkit is not going to be active at all in the near future then there's no point waiting for it to update.

It'd be nice if we could find some other chest locking thing that doesn't depends on Bukkit though, since that's the main security concern thing imo. Also people will probably be quite butthurt about not having the MCMMO skills stuff, but they'll just have to deal with it.

Minecraft Forge is our other option. It will have an update out by the end of the month. We could use Forge mods such as Forge Essentials, Opis, and Towny to replace Bukkit(None of them have to be installed client side.)

Well, here's the worst case scenario. Bukkit gets completely taken down. Then Mojang completely rewrites Bukkit(so nobody can bitch about it being the same code as before) and put it back up. That process however would take a couple moths minimum due to Mojang's full plate. And as for another taking up the mantle, that's what Forge is as well. A set of tools and some code. Its code is a lot different, but can do more then Bukkit could, if the coders do it right.

Why do you think forge would be out so soon, aragorn? I saw that it took a ling time after the 1.7 update.

Also I don't mind losing mcmmo for a while. Most of the benefit is mining, with some minor repair and combat bonuses. I do care about the security plugins a bit.

If we go without Bukkit I don't know if there's a way to easily move from world to world, or if we even can. And from what I've heard it won't be updating for a while. I think we should just start completely over, but if nobody likes that idea, everyone can pm me what they want to take to the new world.

MCEdit allows you to copy chests full of stuff over from one world to another pretty easily, from what I've heard, probably with less work than it would take for you to go into the game in creative mode and spawn stuff for people. Might wanna look into that if the clamor for item transfer is high.

I'm cool with just doing a complete reset with no item restoration though. I might even run with the fresh start thing even if other people ask for items to be restored, actually.

I'm probably in the minority of wanting to transfer items, but I would be all for mcedit. I don't know how we would coordinate that since giygas said he hasn't used it. Atlas mentioned being able to do it.

As much as I would like to transfer over the chests I spent the last 3 days fill, I also have no problem with a full reset.

I will not be voting on whether or not we reset. I don't play enough on the server to merit a vote. I can only offer advice.

Well, on one hand the reset would mean we could band together to pool our resources and rebuild the structures we had bigger and better than before after a couple days of building up our tools, but then again all of my stuff would be gone. :,)

Well, since we're all being wishy-washy about it and saying we'd go either way, fuck it, I'm gonna go with a decisive vote. Everyone else may as well do the same, so Giygas can know what the fuck we want instead of trying to suss it out from out unclear posts.

I vote for a full and total reset, no item restoration or transfer, just a completely new 1.8 world where we start from scratch.

Provided it isn't going to take a week to figure out I think transferring inventories and shit over is going to be the option I vote for.
