Them being owned by Mojang is WHY the problem exists. Here's what happened. The original Bukkit project was under the GPL license. This means the project is open source, everything using it must be open source, and anyone forking it must keep it open source. Guess what Mojang didn't do? So, one of the bukkit founders issued a DMCA takedown because of it.

Here's the solution. Are you guys ready?

We go ahead with the restart, and everyone who wants to keep their items just takes a few screenshots of them, or calculates the numbers, and when the server get's its protection tools we can just manually give those players their items. A bit tedious, but so is every other option.

Well, the only speedbump would be the screenshots bit. I'm not sure if it would be smarter to make custom profiles and hop back into the 1.7 world, or to upgrade the current server and then do it.

custom profiles is faster and easier, that's how I access our server, another with a recent snapshot, civcraft (which is 1.7.4 because of 5 billion addons), and my singleplayer creative worlds in the pre-1.8 releases.

-log on to the server on this profile
-screenshot your own chest contents

I was suggesting those things to appease the people who want to play NAO and for the possibility of future "Well I wasn't online when you guys decided to do all that and now I don't know what stuff I had D;"

We don't need to do the screenshots or w/e anyway. Atlas is familiar with mcedit (which he said is doable even for 1.8), and 1.8 vanilla even has some edit/copy tools of its own. We can copy the stuff over, just need to grab Giygas when he's around and have him let atlas do it.

Copy them over to what? The new, unprotected world? Bedrock box?

It doesn't matter I guess. You guys will figure it out. I'm not going to pretend that I know about minecraft worlds and editing.

Either way, I think everyone wants to start today or tomorrow. Regardless of what you guys decide.

Then talk to giygas yourself. But make sure to have him coordinate with atlas so i can have item transfers. And yes, we'll have to find hiding places or w/e.
