Brian looked ahead to see there were instructors watching everyone arrive. He wondered what the future held for them at this school. He couldn't help but feel sad because he couldn't see is family but he had to be strong so he could eventually. As he thought about his parents he accidentally set his chair on fire due to his attempt to form his lighter to fidget with. Instead he only formed lighter fluid and fire. He hopped up out of the seat and fell over another seat. The fire began to spread. "Shit" he though trying to materialize sand to smother the fire. He regained his composure and smothered the fire.

Katherin chuckled at the poor boy who set his chair on fire. She moved closed to the fire before using her power. She waved her hand at the fire. Instantly the chair and fire were covered in several inches of snow. "Not what I had in mind but it works."

"Thanks. I am Brian Scott." He said holding out his hand and straightening his glasses with the other.

"Katherin Winter." She introduce herself with a smile. "I know the name is totally appropriate."

Brian Laughed. "Yes. It sure is. How did you end up here?" Brian asked.

"Lost control of my powers." Katherin told him honestly. She was still embarrassed to think about what had gotten her refer to this special school. "Not that I mind. I have always wanted to me others like me. Now I get to learn to control my powers and met others that are different all at once. "

"Isn't that how we all got here?" Absinthe interrupted. She seemed like she didn't mean to, going back to biting her thumb. "Sorry..."

Brian laughed. "What you said is right." He turned to Katherin. "You're happy to be here? I mean the idea of this place is nice, but don't you feel like you have been sent to a prison just for being a freak?" Brian said. His feelings were pouring out of him. He had done nothing wrong but was sent to this school because something could happen since he was different.

"I don't know that I am happy to be here exactly." She tried to explain. "I wish we didn't have to be treated differently but the truth is we are different. Ive never met any that was different. It's nice to know that I am not alone. I take comfort in the fact that there are others like me."

"I suppose you're right about being around others like us, but if the world would except us then we could be around each other in normal life too." he turned to Katherin. " Although I am glad to have these powers." Brian said smiling.

Absinthe was uncomfortable with Katherin's words, 'We're monsters, of course we're being treated differently.' She thought.

"We are gifted humans." Brian snapped. "Don't think you are a monster. You are as beautiful and gifted as anyone." Brian said comforting Abby.

"Alright everyone." The teachers said in unison. "First of all we want to encourage you all to be yourselves. There is no need to hide who and what your are here. We have a schedule and map that will be passed around. We will begin the day with Breakfast at 8. Then power development which we will work on you powers and abilities. Then we will have a class where you will learn important subjects like history and math. We will have lunch at noon. After lunch we will have gym where we will work on your physical fitness. Then we will have a class that is focused on more fun subjects like music and art. Supper will be served at 6. After that the evening is yours. Everyone needs to be in their rooms by 11."

"The cafeteria, library and gyms are all open until 11." The teachers answered together. "Any other questions?"

Brian didn't like the idea of a curfew for everyone, but so far the school didn't seem that bad.

"We don't have many." The teachers said together. "1. Respect each other. 2. Obey your teachers unless you have a valid reason not to. 3. Do not leave the school without permission. 4. No fighting outside of power development. 5. Follow the schedule."

"Umm..." Absinthe raises her hand slightly, a worried expression on her face. "We don't use our powers on each other do we?"

"Yes eventually you will be using your powers against each other. This is a good way to help you gain control and to learn to defend yourself if it becomes necessary.
