I really hate it when you join an rp with a great story and cast of characters and then the GM disappears and everyone else does too, it's especially annoying when you make a completely new character that you like and then can't use them.

I also hate it when people make a stupid fucking character that just barely fits, and it ONLY operates on 'rool of cool'. I honestly love that trope, but if the character can be described as that trope incarnate and barely fuck-else, I'm gonna be buttmad.

Characters just can't be 'kool', they need to be, y'know, FUCKING CHARACTERs too. They need to have their own fucking personality. Now, I'd honestly prefer the opposite: a dude who can't really do much fightan and whatnot, but at least he's got plenty of fluff backing him up. I'd much rather have him instead of 'soopar elf who can fier lazer beamz and haes gunz and is a zyberg and is also kryptonian' or whatever the fuck.

I agree with the gm/people leaving. I understand RL takes priority over games, but I think SOME notice would be in order. I've lost so many games due to people just dissapearing. Even if they show up a week or two later and apologize, that's fine, but I've never seen it.

Also I've been guilty of character making a certain way. I've been trying to branch out and make different characters with different looks, ages, backgrounds, morals, etc. I don't like having a specific character for EVERY game. You may have a character you like that you want to use over and over again, but to me that is REALLY annoying because not every character fits into every setting and when people try to force them into it, it usually doesn't work.

I've been in a few games where this girl has a character she really likes that is in every game, whether it was DnD, Call of Cthulhu, superheroes, whatever, it's been the same girl. And in some of those games, she worked well, but in the others, she didn't and then the player got pissed off because her character wasn't going along well and then she left.

That's just my personal preference, if you got your favorite character, that's fine, but understand that they can't fit into every situation and forcing it will only end badly.

I could vent more but I won't bore everyone.

This. I don't even keep characters between roleplays. Don't get me wrong I put plenty of effort into them. What and who they are matters to me but I make them for the world they will inhabit, not try to inject them into it.

@RainYes! Exactly! I agree, I put heart into the characters I make. If I don't find myself enjoying the character creation process I stop and figure out if I want to stay in the game (I left a game on here because I wasn't feeling it during the creation process.)

There was even an instance where she went on a forum and complained that her character was being "targeted" in a zombie/demon game because of her young age. But the game itself said that there is a possibility of character death/transformation and they were only doing what the game said they were going to do.

I have transferred characters over to other rps, but I'm careful with checking to make sure that they fit. But there's this one guy/girl who brings this character to every rp they're in even if it doesn't exactly fit and this characters always has the same powers even if it's op in the rps setting

This character was in a Mature rated vampire game also, and her character is a 14 year old girl who, of course, found herself in a mature setting. She got pissed because of what they were doing to a 14 year old when it was TOLD from the beginning what would be involved.

So long as people understand that, they can have as many characters as they want.

This community being too damn harsh and uptight. Nevermind me and my story, I've told it once before, but a good roleplayer I know got banned over a misunderstanding, only for the ban to be lifted when someone sounded off regarding said misunderstanding.

How To Make Me Lose Interest In Your Interest Check 101:
- Immediately start with so much boring world building it makes me think you just want some kind of vicarious pleasure out of this expansive lore you spent three months writing with no room for anyone else's ideas
- Introduce either just basic plot ideas or nothing at all; likely accompanies above point
- Introducing a setting/concept that discourages player interaction
- Being a fandom RP and having canon characters play a significant part of the RP
- seriously nothing loses me faster than a metric tonne of world building right off the bat like I know that's just a Me Thing™ but can u at least wait until the end of the post to do that shit. The first thing I read does not have to be how some irrelevant country inhabited by some random almost-human race exports mainly ham.
- elves/dwarves/humans as the main races like jesus christ can you be any less creative

Most rps I'm in people overdo elemental powers and go overboard with them. Guns are not too prevalent
