THe imperial guard is like the marines. YOu're a grunt first and then your job after. So you can have those skill sets, but if someone needs you to fire a las rifle well guess what. You're gonna go fire a las rifle lol.

Ya I know. I am more just trying to wonder about having both Piloting and tank driving skills. Both of those take years to develop. To a good if not expert degree anyway.

I could do both But I will probably be less than spectacular at one. Probably driving.

Well i'mc onsidering everyone playing a guard character to pretty much be a veteran in my eye. I don't expect many rookies. lol But that's fine if you wanna do it like that.

I would think like your thinking in regards to a space marine who has centuries to develop theses skills. But I am thinking of humans. Who have decades, probably less to do so. And have to have a more limited but specialized skill set.

My idea being ya the guy who has been piloting for 20 years may be a fantastic pilot. But that does not mean he can or has had the time to drive many tanks around. because most of his time is spent being a pilot, where he shows a particular aptitude and the military won't risk in a thing he may not be competent with, or find any reason to pull him away from that field of specialty he shows so much prowess in.

It's like the actual military where the Tank divers spend all their time driving tanks and the Ariforce is doing it's thing and the infantry and snipers are doing theirs. Everyone leaves themselves to their own little areas of expertise.

well you can't really say that either, cause... Lol soldiers in the army change MOS all the time you know? I mean they might be a MP for a few years then they switch over and suddenly they're a avionics mechanic etc. i get where you're coming from> it's your character do it however you like.

They do admittedly. But for instance the guy who drives leapord 2's for ten years isn't a qualified Fighter pilot. And isn't likely to leave the army suddenly to do so. People do change MOS. My brother did as well. But they are usually within the same service branch and the Super drastic changes of MOS aren't as often as people think. They happen sure. But most people stay relatively within their little service Sub branches.

And now that you said I am going to be missing out on a lot of plot and I don't really feel inspired to make a pilot anymore.

I won't always be inside the vehicle. I imagine it parks at some point and then I have to follow on foot. We have to leave the Valkyrie where it is for extraction.

Or maybe the Valkyrie is performing strafing and air recon and support to the people moving along the ground. There are options.

Well that's what i was saying before. If you're strictly pilot you're strictly in the vehicle, but if you're also a guardsman then you'll get out. That's what i was saying before.

I think I am going to abandon the Imperial guard pilot idea. There is just no way I can justify any Valkyrie or A variant being able to hold the members of this group in one relatively small sized plane meant for twelve normal sized humans. Take off and fly without being bogged down the weight. Unless we all crammed into a cargo container and were carried by a sky Talon. That might just work.

I will probably move to make a Storm eagle pilot or something. Or maybe just leave the rp all together. I can't seem to get a good character idea going.

Look, dude, for RP's like this, it's probably best to abandon "Sense" I mean, we are talking about armies of 10 foot tall blokes wearing a ton of armour. I think "These people shouldn't be able to fit in this" is an argument that went out the window a LOOOOOOONG time ago. Plus, if we're going for size comparison:

This is a Taurox, its troop transport compartment is less than half the size of that of a Valkyrie... Yet it can carry up to 6, 14 foot tall, fat, muscly blokes. So, going by that logic, a Valkyrie should have no problem carrying 12 blokes, most of which are less than half that size.

I am fully aware of the world and setting we are playing in. As for the Taurox. I am also aware of it's existence. I am simply going off a mixture of the lore, sense and rules. Where if a Valkyrie can carry twelve Guardsman. And one space marine takes up 'at least' twice as much space as a regular human. And a terminator or Assualt marine takes up twice as much as them. We have already basically filled any Valkyrie or vendetta craft. Throw in the minatour and goo luck even finding a square foot to stand on much less a seat.

I am not about to completely abandon logic. Some leeway must be given admittedly. But not completely. I refuse to do that in any game. As long as lore is established I will move to follow it. If that is not a plan for the rp well I guess I should probably bugger off because I will not enjoy myself if that is the case.

As for the Taurox I am unaware just how big they give actual specs for. But I imagine it's troop hold it taller and probably just as long as the Valkyrie (assuming a realistic size somparison to the holds.) who has to retain some slim profile for the sake of fuel consumption and anti-targeting. Not going off of the size of the models. Or maybe the numbers are just seriously fucked. Either way. I am not going to make that character if I don't feel like it is

A- plausible
Or B- Worthwhile.

And the Taruox would be less concerned than a flying vessel about the massive amounts of added weight from three superhumanly sized and armed people. Which would be an actual concern.

So guys, um the argument you are all having is moot since not everyone in this RP is likely to be jammed in the same vehicle. There is a huge war going on there will be multiple transport vehicles etc. Furthermore I don't see the point of getting all bent out of shape over something as insignificant as "Who can fit in what vehicle." If the vehicle can fit 10 space marines it can fit 5 space marines and 5 IG and a couple inquisitor while you tie a sled to the back for a minotaur to ride in (Last part being a joke.) the thing is at any given time if you guys are moving in a vehicle there will be other vehicles with you. You might like two chimeras and a rhino rolling around or a couple of valkyries and a vendetta. (Storm Talons don't transport they're VTOL gunships/Escort crafts) They are really cool though. So let's stop being so close minded (This isn't space marine) you won't be wandering around just with the 12 PCs you will be moving alongside plenty of NPCs and have plenty of NPC drivers etc transportikng you etc etc.
