So, here's what ended up happening.

I tried to attack!
My roll: 11 (+7) = 18
Thief's roll: 13 (+6) = 19

I miss...
Backstabs tried to attack!
Her roll: 17 (+9) = 26
Thief's roll: 8 (+6) = 14

She hits for... 9 (+9) + 1 - 5 = 14 damage (17 / 50 HP)

I tried to check the thief for stolen items...
My roll: 16 (+ 3 [reduced, due to being tired])
I manage to find something.

You could insert yourself into the story right now... but it might be better if you started at level two with this equipment...


As for how to level up, well, in your case, you'll be given a random spell (I rolled a 3 for 'Thunder' magic), and you'll gain stats as such...
roll a d3 (or a d6 and divide the result by two, rounding up) for each individual stat, add half of your class' stat bonus to each (again, rounding up.), and calculate your new MP and HP after that. I may want to put the actual per level additive in each class... I'll go edit it in.

EDIT: Done. These per level stat gains are in [ ].

With these stats... your Defense would actually be 4 (+1), and your M.Defense would be 7 (+2)... your Attack (STR) would be 4, as well... but that could just be because you rounded down. In this RP, we typically round up, as a general rule of thumb.

Oh! Oops, completely forgot to give a recap...
Basically, we're in the middle of a dirt path, it's just about midnight, and we just killed a human thief for doing his job (stealing stuff). The current objective is to try to figure out information about some strange, grey dust that seems to be spreading around a nearby goblin cave... the group has already been to said cave, and it's been nothing but grey dust, death, and zombies, so there's that.
