Are we allowed to use photos that aren't realistic/historically accurate for our warlords? I have a certain kind of person I'm trying to look for but all of the historically correct photos are of really old men or people high on opium :l

What is the issue with a single GM controlled stat? I've run two WiRs respectively and those are entirely based on Stats run by the GM >.>

It's a lack of creative control and the wide window for fabrication by the GM or the co-GMs to suit their own course of the RP since there's no on-sight program to track things like rolls or determine anything that couldn't otherwise be fabricated in the process of reading, interpretation, and assigning values for calculations. It's an undue complexity better suited for a simulation specefically designed or built to run these calculations on the spot with minimal human intervention.

If it must be done by a person, it's better run in a physical environment and where all equations are out and in the open for all players to check as they go and to keep a environment where everyone can keep the other in check.

Again, if you don't like it then don't join and don't whine about it if you aren't in it or planning to be it.

IMHO as a friendly suggestion. this is a problem that affects everyone that joins, not even him. I back Aaron up. Y'all need to work that out.

Well, to be fair, in WiR generally the GM/Co-GM isn't a player. But regardless the stat can't exactly be abused if everyone is starting at the same level and then it increases/decreases based on player choices/decisions. I just honestly do not see the issue...

Favoritism. The GM doesn't need to be involved to possibly see something they'd like done and will tip the stats in that thing's favor. Or someone they really like joins and they'd like for statements akin to

The Ma Clique shall rule China's steppes!

To become legit because perhaps said person has positive experiences and may count this person as a friend, and despite technical neutrality may privately adjust things to their favor because "lol so funneh"

Sorta like two snipers who are friends who will pick anyone off in a online game but themselves.

Not meant as a personal attack against you. But the nature of those statements should be purged all together in the interests of proper story-telling.

@Dinh AaronMkSo how do you prepose that we handle this then? The GM only has the power to accept apps and everything else cannot be interfered with?

If so, I see a tread that tends to happen with these free-form styled RP of them dying out pretty quickly. At least with the ones I've been in.

Stats RPs are just as likely. It's not a factor that comes down to genre. Merely the commitment of the players within to the story and to the theme.

Real life will come up. Pluck a few people away from the thread to manage their own life and things will grind to a stop when it comes to their turn; more-so if they're needed. Someone will get impatient and leave or stop posting without an announcement. They'll be needed, more will leave. Stats or no stats an RP is weak to this sort of attrition in all but a few rare cases.

Check the Paradox Forums, seeing as how World in Revolution (A RP dedicated to the GM running stats) lasted well over a year with each thread. Your issue is you obviously have no trust within the GM to be mature and not abuse his own roleplay for some minor egotistical gain. The obvious solution is, have one GM and perhaps 1-2 Co-GMs and ensure that the GM posts the math for each players stats. This way everything is out in the open and there is a balance to prevent corruption. That is how they did in WiR with 'yearly' updates showing every stat and the math behind it.

You'd have to check with the GM about that when he gets on. Personally I'd find that to be an interesting idea but it can get OP/out of hand really quickly.
