Fair enough; I've had hell trying to find accurate census data so gave up ages ago.
Also, Murtox has contacted me and has withdrawn. I'll remove him from the roster.
/edit Wait, I didn't put him on the roster... /shrug

Finding population data is quite difficult, yes. The offical records on wikipedia at the moment date back to 1953. Unfortunately for us the 1953 and the next census in 1964 are both known to be inaccurate and have been taken poorly by the Chinese government. The oldest one and actually usable census is the one that took place in 1982.

That being said, I have a population census that goes back to 1900. This is of course even more inaccuarate but it has to do. I'm also adding in some of my own mathematics whenever possible to create what I believe is a more accurate number. Though with some provinces this is not possible seeing as the data, though inaccuarate on them isn't plentyfull and in some cases doesn't go back farther then 1936 whilst our current year is 1911.

@Rare I've been doing improved research and this is what I have for 6 out of 6 provinces so far:

Provinces with my updated population estimate:
Jiangsu = 26,172,048 million.
Ningxia = 1,210,000 million.
Quangdong = 25,696,400 million. (Including Hainan island)
Qinghai = 943,000 thousand.
Jilin = 9,350,000 million.
Hainan Island = Impossible for me to do, no census has been taken since 1982 because that is when the island became its seperate province. I can only estimate it at around 3,750,000 to 4,250,000 million, for just the island. But I believe Lennon has some land from mainland China to his territory as well, which only complicates my task.

@Rare Both the charts you provided are 100 years past date and have included several major events such as the civil war and the Sino-Japanees wars. The situation before this could have been very different. However, the eastern territories have always been the most populated because of their historical access to water. The West doesn't have that and living there is thus more difficult.

Did anyone watch Eurovision last night? The Russian announcer killed it, best Eurovision joke ever.

I make a point of not watching Eurovision... It's almost as bad as Britain's got Talent, also known as the biggest fallacy since Hitler's overtures of peace.

@Lennon79 I'm reworking some stuff on my NS, would it be fair to say that you have a pop of 5.5 Million and I have the rest in Guangdong?

I feel like I want to make a super-militant Tibet. Just to screw History.

Edit: Sorry, I must have misread something and thought this was set a good thousand years before it is.

We're at the very start of the Warlord Era in China at the moment, the year 1911 to be exact. You're welcome to join, if you find a province you would like to portray then I can supply you with population data and armament information if you would like.

Tibet is also independent at this time, so sadly not an option.
However a militant Tibetan warlord in China is.

I don't think what you did is very accurate, did you look at any history of your province at all? I don't mean to offend but, ''After the communist revolution and until the start of the Deng Xiaoping reforms in 1978, Guangdong was an economic backwater, although a large underground, service-based economy has always existed. Economic development policies encouraged industrial development in the interior provinces which were weakly joined to Guangdong via transportation links. The government policy of economic autarky made Guangdong's access to the ocean irrelevant.'' Basically saying, that in 1911 the state and wealth of this province was much, much lower. Comparable to that of the backwards Western provinces like mine. I'm aware you can turn things around as a Warlord but you having massive wealth with the snap of your fingers feels like meta-gaming. It looks like you just saw that today it's doing very, very well and is quite rich and decided you would just use that for the 1911 era as well. That being said, i'm not the game master and I can't make you change anything. I'm just making an observation and i'm providing some information (Like the population data's) to help make things more accurate.

Edit: Maybe you can describe what policies you have for the region instead? I'm aware that I myself have a lot of ideas for my province but in most cases they're still going on the way. Like they're not set in stone as of yet, and I left mine open for problems to be exploited by the game master.

For example, i've banned the trade in Opium, which in the long run will increase the price of Opium and drugs in general in my province quite high, which should entice smugglers from all over China to get their goods here and sell them for the high prices.

Alright, mucked around with the NS a bit. I made it so that while the province makes a good deal of money, most of it goes straight to Hui instead of back to the province.
