[OOC] Supers: A Superpower RP

In the beginning, two beings were created. They were given the names Alpha and Omega. Alpha was the embodiment of everything that is just and good, likewise Omega was the embodiment of all that wrong and evil in the world. They battled all throughout time, and all over the earth. Their powers were evenly matched, with one never taking the upper hand over the other. They realized they were too evenly matched to continue their battle, so they would allow fractions of their powers to begin manifesting in humans. These humans (who would later be dubbed "Supers") would then continue the battle of good and evil in the place of Alpha and Omega. You are one of these humans.

Locations
Pavar: The medium-sized town in northwestern Arizona in which our story will unfold. The town is rather isolated, being surrounded by desert on all sides. However there is a large man-made freshwater reservoir north of the city. This isolation has led Pavar to become a very tight-knit community, and somewhat self-sustaining. The west side of town is home to the Sand Creek Mall, Pavar High, and a large steel mill that employ many people within the town. The east side of town is the Residential District, where most people are born and raised.

Sand Creek Mall: The town’s main attraction, students and adults alike can be found here hanging out or doing shopping. All of the large chain stores moved out long ago, resulting in a mall that is full of locally owned small business. Stores include clothing outlets, a grocery, various department stores, a cafe, and numerous restaurants in the food court The chinese restaurant in the food court is the bomb.

Pavar High: The high school where the citizens of Pavar send their kids to get an education. Your character should be attending, or had graduated from this fine learning establishment. Standard high-school courses with numerous electives are offered for students here.

Residential District: The east side of town where people (as the name suggests) reside. Far from the cookie-cutter homes that are becoming popular in other American suburbs houses of all shapes and sizes dot long and winding roads.

Name: Curtis Taylor

Personality: Curtis is a very outgoing individual who is constantly making jokes (sometimes at inappropriate moments) in an attempt to make the mood light. That being said he can be serious when the occasion calls for it. Trusting to a fault, Curtis more often than not is an open book to other individuals.

Likes: Oranges, Metal Music, Coffee

Dislikes: Spiders, Hot Weather, Untrustworthy Indiviuals

History: Curtis isn't a Pavar native. He moved to Pavar with his twin brother Ash and their mother at the beginning of their sophomore year. After a particularly nasty divorce their mother was quite eager to leave anything that reminded her of her previous marriage. This in turn has caused her to be distant from her sons, who have channeled this distance into different outlets. Curtis focuses on school and making the most of his last year of high school. Ash has found more creative outlets. Despite the stark difference between the twins they are remarkably close and will still have each other's back (even if it might take a bit of convincing). The two aren't identical twins, and their radically different choices of attire makes it incredibly easy to tell them apart from one another. When not attending classes Curtis can be found enjoying coffee at the cafe located in Sand Creek Mall, or scouring Pavar in search of his brother.

Awakening: The alarm screeching brought an end to Curtis's restless night of sleep. He had went to bed with a terrible headache, and it appeared that he was going to start the day with another. Wiping the sleep from his eyes he walked down the hall to his house's bathroom, luckily it was unoccupied, This meant either Ash wasn't going to school or he wasn't even home from the night before. Either way it meant Curtis could take a nice long shower to try to nurse away this headache. Curtis stayed in the shower for quite some time, hoping that the headache was something sinus related and the steam would help take care of it. No such luck. He returned to his room wrapped in a towel and quickly got dressed. The headache was getting worse now, his vision would blur if he didn't focus. "What the fuck..." he muttered to himself while stumbling into the kitchen. Then it happened. It was almost like a snap. He felt it start at the base of his neck and travel down his spine. His headache was gone, but immediately replaced by something else. He felt connected to the earth beneath his feet. At first the sensation was overwhelming, the feeling causing him to drop to his knees. He reached for the granite counter-top to help himself up, but was shocked when a chunk of the tabletop instead ripped from the counter and flew down into his hand. Curtis dropped the piece out of pure shock, it audibly crashing against the floor. The granite had moved in response to him thinking about it. Before he had much time to think about what had occurred the tabletop had begun to shake, followed by the utensils in the silverware drawer. Not knowing what to do Curtis ran out the kitchen door and out to the driveway. He stood outside in the hot Arizona sun and watched as the rocks of the driveway slowly began to float around him, making lazy circles around his outstretched arms. A smile slowly formed on Curtis's face. Life had just gotten interesting.

Power: The power of Electrical Manipulation

Personality: Hunter is one of those people who can be either your best friend or your worst enemy. He has a tendency to get defensive about himself and the people he cares about and will take action if he feels need be. He will not start a fight if he doesn't have too though, This does not mean he isn't willing to get into a fight. For the most part Hunter is mellow and tends to be easy going. Though he also tends to have a short attention span to the point of random things may be said every once and a while, or if he doesn't like you much may easily ignore you.

Likes: Guns, games, good stories, his friends and Family.

Dislikes: Bills, work, people using money and power to control others aggressively, bills.

History: Hunters family has lived in Pavar for generations, though this also means he doesn't have much family outside of Pavar. With his parents divorced his mom moved out of Pavar well his dad stayed in it. After a car accident with his dad though Hunter was forced to balance school, work, and taking care of his dad and his younger brother. His mom is encouraging both him an his brother to move in with her, but he is determined to let his younger brother stay in the same school for the last few years. So if he moves, his dad can't take care of his brother.

Awakening: Hunter has decided to go out late one night, his brother was at a friends and his dad had enough medication to get him through the week, plus he's pretty sure there was something about the draft going on. Hunter didn't watch football really so he took this as his chance to get out. He didn't have a lot of money to spare but he had enough to go into town and walk around, it was late, maybe 11PM? Curfew was definitely in effect. But Hunter was not in the age range anymore, he could do what he wanted now.

After walking for a while the cool desert breeze started to get to him, He left his jacket in his dads truck, which was who know where. And everywhere was closed for the night, other then the mall, most the places in there would be closed but for some reason the mall it self was open. Hunter didn't care, he was going to enjoy his night out.

He didn't get far though, He made it half way through the parking lot before his headache kicked in. He has been getting them on and off for the last week or so, but this one was the worst. He tried to stay calm but he still let out a muffled scream, then it stopped. He was sitting there on his knees and he felt like his head was just cleared of any and all pains. Like nothing happened. He felt great actually! He went into the mall pumped up but the doors didn't open, they stayed shut but the mall was definitely open. Hunter tried to apply some force to the door, sometimes they were built with that emergency release set up. but the second he put his hand on the door it shot open, not just fast, but sparks flying door going off hinges flying.

He didn't believe it at first... But he kinda got the idea when people were starting to look at the events at the door. "Someone... should fix that..." He tried his best to walk casually into the mall, he wasn't good at it though, he was still freaked out about what was going on. Did he do that? was the door broken? He sat down int he food court and starred at his hands. "No way that was me... Just... No way..." Then as if on cue a few sparks jumped from one hand to the other, then back. But Hunter just sat there, as if this was normal, it felt normal. Oh the possibilities were endless.

Personality:She will approach people even strangers if she has a reason to. She loves to work hard and gets angry with people who sit back and reap the rewards from others hard labour. She is honest and will tell people what she thinks even if it could hurt someone's feelings. She loves jokes even though she can't think of a single one herself.

Likes:Getting work done, being outdoors, helping other people out, ice cream sandwiches, skateboarding, shopping.

Dislikes:People who put their muscles before their using their brains, fighting, lazy people, pickles, bullies.

Biography:Michelle was born and lived the early part of her childhood in the village of Lisen. From an early age she learned to be responsible as she had four younger brothers and sisters to look after. Michelle herself was taught the basics of how to look after everything at the young age of ten. She didn't mind that she had a lot of work and that she couldn't go to school, except for the summers when her parents had a few months booked holiday to take time away from their jobs.

It wasn't all work for her at that time, her and her family went on trips across country to go camping, to water parks, to mountain climbing, all this outdoors y kind of stuff. These trips built her confidence and helped her make new friends.

At the age of sixteen she moved to Pavar, and started at the school there in grade ten, it was tough at first being in a new area with new people but she adapted. And when she was lonely she always went for a walk and saw the sights and that would take her mind away from negative thoughts. At high school she started to hang out with a couple of friends she made and then went out around the city shopping, skateboarding, to the theatre, to the convenience store for a soda pop, with the little money her parents bothered to give her here and there.

Her Awakening: It was the summer after she had finished her grade ten year when they were on a camping trip. This particular day just her and her dad decided to hike up a moutain and they were most of the way up. Michelle was getting sick of having to wait for her father to catch up to her and she looked over her shoulder to see a grizzly bear right behind him, she wanted to faint. Her eyes went wide and her face became almost the color of chalk as she tried to get a word out to warn her dad. Her father saw the look she gave his way and checked behind him and panicked as he slipped on a rock and fell in front of the bear.

The bear saw a victim and raised its paw to put it down and that's when michelle yelled, "NO!!!" a sound wave came out of her mouth and struck the bear hard, it put a paw to its head as it must have had a bad headache and ran down the mountain away from them.

She was confused at how her voice had changed like that, but obviously it had and then the shock of everything that just happened came crashing down on her. She hugged her dad and made sure never to let him out of her sight again while they were on that camping trip.

When she entered grade twelve she decided to get a job directing traffic with her special voice, and she has been doing that ever since.

Personality:
Ash is a closed book, simple as that. He's not interested in making friends or fitting in with all the other kids. He doesn't take anything seriously, even if the consequences are absolutely dire. Everything is a burden in his eyes and everyone is twice as unreliable as the last person. The best way to get Ash on your side is to be willing to put in a lot of work, otherwise you'll have to get used to a middle finger and the occasional glare.

History:
Ash isn't a Pavar native. As far as Ash is concerned, he isn't a native anywhere. He also has a tendency of trying too hard to look like he doesn't care. He moved to Pavar with his twin brother Curtis and their mother at the start of his Sophomore year. They had gotten the hell out of dodge after a nasty divorce between his momma and his pops. Ash wouldn't complain about the sudden lack of weekly black eyes or the occasional broken rib from dear old dad, but moving across the country wasn't that thrilling to him either. Unlike his straight laced brother, Ash find enjoyment in showing up to school once a week, give or take a day, smoking, drinking, getting into trouble, and being an all around menace to society. He's a bucking bronco daring the world to try and tame him. Ash and Curt are as close as radically different brothers usually are. Curtis is often wandering town trying to find him and, after a little agreement with the cute barista at the Sand Creek Mall cafe, Ash usually hides out at the Cafe whenever Curt is trying to find him.

Awakening:
What Ash was doing at the time of the awakening was almost as if fate was trying its best to mock him, something that seemed more and more true with every year. Ash was one of the local Thai joint's, a place called Thai Cafe, best customers. Was, being that he once was their best customer. Was, because there was no longer a Thai Cafe. He dug his fork into the Thai hot pad thai and brought a piece a pepper up to his lips, savoring the scent that cauterised his nostrils, and then he bit in. Fate was a silly thing and, as fate would have it, his awakening came about the same moment he bit into the pepper. A burn built in the back of his throat and for a moment his mouth and nostrils felt as if they were filled with smoke. He opened his mouth to gasp for air, only for a burst of flame to spill out onto the table, searing the pad thai and setting the table ablaze. "Jesus!" He gasped, falling backwards out of his chair, arms flailing out in front of him, hands also ablaze.

Ash flailed about of the floor, trying to pad out the flames, only to spread them more. In his panic he hadn't yet realised that the fire didn't hurt or that he was unintentionally willing more and more of it to spill out of him in his state of panic. Ash stumbled out of the restaurant and left the building to burn down, the staff fleeing out the back of the crumbling restaurant. Ash crashed in an alley, exhausted and filled with a lingering terror which turned to shock when he finally noticed his hands. He wasn't even slightly burned. His clothing had been scorched in some places, but beyond that he was absolutely immaculate. Ash stared in silence at his hands and reluctantly placed his fingers together, ready to snap. He closed his eyes and snapped. And when they opened, there was a flame.

Personality: Josh is a very outgoing individual who tries his best to befriend everyone, the guy you would see interacting with the Jocks, laughing having a good time and then walking over to the More alternative kids and doing the same thing. Though Josh can be a bit passive on his quest to be friends with everyone.

Likes: Video games, Pancakes,Night time,people,Energy Drinks

Dislikes: being disliked, Rainbows,Mean spirited people and buzz kills.

History: Josh was born in Ottawa Canada, he was born and raised there until he was Thirteen then they moved too Pavar after his mother told him they needed a change of scenery after his older sister Marie was killed in a drunk driving accident, upon moving there he has made many friends and has seemed to move on from her death.

Awakening:

The call was quick and heart stopping. He had been sitting with his friends just watching a television when his mother called, talking about Marie and a car crash and hospital were the only words that made sense. I giant ball of emotion hit him and he needed to be there. Ottawa general another word his mother uttered over her sobs. Josh felt light, almost like he was being sucked into a black hole and suddenly he was standing at the entrance of the Hospital. People kind of stunned to see him appear there. He looked around and let out a "what?" he shook his head and ran into the hospital.

It didn't happen again until a few days ago. He was sitting at his desk when he was thinking of swimming in the public pool that was just across the street from the school, the cool water on his skin, he closed his eyes he took a deep breath and realized he couldn't, he opened his eyes and realized he was at the bottom of the pool, he screeched and pushed himself up, coughing and hacking. Grabbing the side of the pool "what the hell?" he said laying on his back, legs in the water "Hey!" someone called to him "Pools closed!" a guy yelled walking over to him "gotta jet" he said to himself running from the pool and hopping the fence.

History

Crystal was born in Germany. Her mother was a gentle housewife while her father was a successful businessman. At age 11, her mother passed away from a drunk driving accident. The teenager behind the wheel was only sentenced to 5 years of probation. Her father remarried a few years later, much to her displeasure. Her step-mother was very hostile towards her, and it got worse when his father left the country for a business trip. When worse came to worst, she moved to Pavar where her grandmother lived. With her savings and her grandmother's hard earned money, she was able to take the trip.

She lived a simple life in a small house in Pavar. Her grandmother would often show her pictures of her mother when she was her age. Her grandmother was the closest thing she had to a mother, so when she passed away of old age, she was left completely alone. In order to continue her studies, she got a student loan. She works part time at a coffee shop in San Creek Mall in order to pay for her daily needs.

Crystal's father would often call to ask her to come back. Her step-mother had told him that she left home because she couldn't accept their marriage. Crystal made him believe this, not wanting to cause anymore problems for his father. She refused to come back but agreed to ask for his help if ever she needed it.

Awakening

It was dark.

Her throat tightened as she held back her tears. "Poor girl. You honestly think that your father would believe you?" A voice taunted. "Sit there and learn your lesson." She could hear the clacking of heels against the floor, and a door was shut close.

*An hour earlier*

"Dad, how long are you gonna be away from home?"

"I'll be back in three weeks, Crystal. Be a good daughter while I'm away, okay?" He smiled as he dragged his luggage behind him.

"But dad, Martha always-"

"Crystal! There you are. I made you some breakfast." Her step-mother interrupted with a fake smile."Oh honey, I see that you're already leaving. Let me escort you to the gate." She said as she opened the front door for him and helped him with his stuff. She gave Crystal an ice-cold glare before closing the door behind her.

As soon as her father had left, Martha stormed inside and dragged her by the arm; digging her long nails into her skin while doing so. She let out a series of yells before forcefully placing her inside a cardboard box and sealing it with tape. "My friends are coming over. Be good and stay quiet." Being the helpless 14 year old girl that she was, she kept still.

*Present*

Crystal could hear music blaring from outside the room. She doesn't know how long it had been, but she was starting to feel light headed. Her step-mother had definitely forgotten about her. Her skin started to burn, and her breathing hitched. She suffered from a condition called Thyrotoxicosis, which makes her intolerant to heat. Her heart started to race, and her muscles began to feel weak. "..Help." She whispered to herself, knowing no one would be able to hear her even if she tried.

Suddenly, the air around her drastically dropped in temperature. It went on for a few more seconds until she could see the fog in the darkness. Her hands were then suddenly encased in very cold ice - but it didn't hurt. She lifted her arm up, and ran her finger towards the top of the box in a straight line, ripping the tape with the sharp edge of the ice.

She couldn't process what was happening. It was when she turned the lights on that a shiver ran down her spine. The whole room was frozen.

She ran out of the room in fear. On her way to her room, she could see her drunk step-mother passed out on the couch. Hatred and rage began to fill her, and ice slowly started to surround the place. She closed her eyes and shook her head, "No no. I don't wanna hurt anyone." She ran to her room and later decided to give her granny a call.

Okay, so Josh's teleportation would start at level one A few meters maybe, they throughout the rp he would eventually get to level 2 and maybe glimpes of level 3 towards the end (level three is planitary teleportation).

He would also learn to teleport objects remotely, through the ojects weight and sizes would account for example a cup of water he could do easily but a person (depending ont he weight of them) would be much harder to 'move'.

The way it's balanced is intertia, he maintains momentem when he Teleports, so he can't just teleport someone into the sky then teleport back because he would be crushed as well. This also means he can't stop something that's moving through teleporting it. So allot of problems would have to be solved by him and not him using his power as a crutch

Power: Tychokinesis (Probability Manipulation)

Personality: Intelligent, relatively quiet and relaxed. He tends to think things through, however depending upon circumstance, he can be quite brash. Rather social, although he rarely gets involved in something he is pretty sure he will lose at.

Likes: Music, smart bets, rain, the cold, fire, and reading.

Dislikes: Bad music (country, rap), cheaters, impatience, and annoyingly persistent people.

History:

History

While not technically a Pavar native Justin essentially is. Although born in Bellingham, Washington Justin and his family moved to Pavar when he was age seven. When his father lost his job Justin's mother, who had been born in Phoenix, Arizona, wanted to move south where it is warmer. Justin's father found work in Pavar at the steel mill.

Unlike many children who may have freaked about such a move Justin was rather unfazed. He just bid goodbye to the few friends he had and gathered his things. Upon arriving in Pavar Justin merely went about life as if nothing changed. His grades never slipped from B and A territory, and he had a rather reserved social life.

Upon gaining his license Justin began to sometimes works as a DJ for events and parties that occur in town. He also occasionally throws parties of his own, out in the desert. Despite working parties and throwing parties though, Justin possess very few good friends, though he does have quite a few acquaintances. If not at a party Justin can usually be found loitering around at the school, or local library.

Awakening:

Awakening

He was in a horrible mood, and his head felt like a tornado was ripping through it. Perhaps it was due to the fact he had just finished up at party where all that he was allowed to play was country (essentially they had just wanted a radio blaring the top country hits at max volume), or maybe it was due to the teen who had almost wrecked a good portion of his equipment. Either way one thing was certain, sometimes he hated his job. However, he did charge a good rate and saw enough business that even with having to buy all his equipment and such, he had already begun to turn profit. Not just a little either, in fact tonight alone should be bring a hundred and fifty dollars.

Earlier in the night though he'd been approached by the party host with a proposition. If Justin joined in on some gambling with the host and host friends he could double his money for the night at the very least. Gambling had never been Justin's forte, but with the pains of the night he figured double profits would be worth it. In fact he was almost certain he could win, after the host was some douchebag jock Neanderthal and the rest were his friends.

Eight hands in and Justin was failing. The 150 he started with from the pay he had gotten was gone, and he had already dipped into his own pocket for seventy-five dollars. On. The ninth hand with a full house, 3 kings and 2 queens, he lost and he had also reached the bottom of his wallet. Turning towards the host and winner of the round Justin caught sight of cards hidden in his sleeve. Immediately he wanted to deck the guy, he had probably cheated on every hand he had won. Instead taking a deep breath Justin spoke addressing the host, "Appears the cards hate me and I'm out of cash, but how about we roll dice high roll wins. If I win I get all the money I lost back, except the pay for tonight, you win next five parties I do for free." With a little egging from his friends the jock agreed.

After a lackey fetched a pair of dice they began. Grabbing the dice Justin tentatively rolled. They bounced clattered on the table the first landing on a two the second teetering between a five and a one. Then to his dismay the die fell; one. Immediately, the jocks began to laughter, and Justin felt his chest go hollow. As soon as the jock picked the dice up though Justin began to chant snake eyes in his head, it was his only hope. The moment the dice hit the table, Justin felt his head get light, and for a moment his eyes blurred and then they cleared and sitting on the table was a pair of ones. Everyone stared in disbelief and then came the protests, and pleas for another round. Feeling strangely calm and certain Justin agreed for double his pay, again they rolled and again he won, by one.

Walking towards his van Justin grinned, tonight he had made 342 dollars. He wasn't sure how but once they had switched to dice games he began to win, and every time he concentrated hard enough he felt a small pull in gis mind and almost everytime the dice would do as he had wanted. Pausing at his van's door he reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin. Calmly he flipped three times each time silently calling a side and all three times he was correct. Grinning again he slid the coin back into his pocket and got in his can to drive home, he wasn't sure how but he was damn sure he was causing the outcomes he wanted. Speaking quietly to himself as he drove off he muttered, "If this keeps up, things will most definitely be interesting."
