Cringing.

Remember that time Al Sharpton's old ass cried RACISM when Zimmerman, a Hispanic, killed a black teenager who was purchasing drug paraphernalia?

Whatever happened to that? I guess after the media found out Zimmerman wasn't in fact an angry white Klan member, they sort of dropped the whole racism angle and instead focused on Stand Your Ground.

I can't help but feel like there were 2 victims in that case. Obviously people riddled with White Guilt are going to be rooting for DMX.

I imagine a lot of reactions when the first case broke. "His name is Zimmerman. Omg he must be some Aryan racist...wait...he's awfully brown...what..."

I like that one guy's idea, to put Mayweather in the ring with Zimmerman, he'll never know the difference.

The guy who killed a suspicious hooligan in self-defense (if someone is slamming you head into the pavement, you have the right to kill them in self-defense) and was later vilified as some sort of racist, yes, I do consider him a victim.

The dude, who by the way was already known for his aggressive neighborhood watch tactics, carrying his concealed weapon, stepped out of his car and followed Trayvon Martin after explicitly being told not to by the police dispatcher—let's repeat that: George Zimmerman, a decade older and some seventy pounds heavier than Trayvon Martin, carrying a concealed weapon, chose to pursue Martin, who was unarmed. He then murdered Trayvon Martin, was not convicted—not even of manslaughter!—because of Stand Your Ground (which doesn't count if you're a young black man being followed by an armed man, apparently) and then proceeded to actually make money off of his murdering a boy. Tell me again how he's a victim.

As for the racism, it seems pretty clear that Zimmerman holds some racist views (you think this would have happened if it was a white kid?). Being Hispanic doesn't stop him from being racist.

ETA: Speaking of racism and the whole "well it was self defense" thing: Marissa Alexander (prosecuted by the same lawyer as George Zimmerman!) killed exactly nobody after being abused by her husband. For some reason she doesn't get to invoke Stand Your Ground.

Kill a kid? Well, sure, it was self defense. Fire a warning shot at a wall? 20 years in prison for you, lady. See how self defense is exactly what we want it to be?

Something something Acquitted.

The law hardly seems to matter if regular people are just going to take it upon themselves to seek vigilante justice. What's the point of having a trial by jury if society is just going to ignore the verdict?

Wait, wait. We're losing perspective here.

Why is this even happening?

Because Zimmerman is a moron.

That was apparent in the original case.

It's even more apparent now.

TBH I really hope he just beats the rapper's ass. If this guy I've never heard of really intends to "break all the rules of boxing" and "beat the living shit" out of him, I would relish in the chaos brought about by Zimmerman beating him down fighting fair.

THINK of all the BELLIGERENT BLACK PEOPLE!

I'm sure that no Florida judge or jury has as nuanced a grasp of Florida state law as you do, Munk. You're a hero to social justice bloggers everywhere.

Zimmerman was known for no such thing. He was known to be a successful neighborhood watchman who reported suspicious activity and never overstepped any boundaries.

In Zimmerman's neighborhood, there had been a series of break-ins and robberies prior to the Trayvon Martin incident.

Not to mention, if he was really that guilty, the jury could have chosen a guilty verdict. But they didn't. Also why are you trying to bring his lawyer's past history into this? His lawyer did his job which is to provide a defense for his client. That's how our judicial system works, homegirl and you're the type of person that would have condemned women in Salem to be burned as witches without hearing all of the evidence because you base legal cases on emotion, not evidence.

Interesting (actually) true fact -- Stand Your Ground was never once invoked by the defense during the Zimmerman trial. It has literally nothing to do with his acquittal.
