Iosef tapped Eartrent's hilt a few times with his fingers, before sheathing it.

"Soulstealer. Ssalivan is merely a dragon, but claiming Darkstalker will be more difficult if I have no means of combating spirits."

He then gets onto his horse, before riding off back to the humans' kingdom for recuperation.

"Oh, umm... Good night..." Sheil replies quietly as she crawls into bed, a little awkward though not especially disturbed, falling asleep in a matter of minutes.

The following morning...

The next morning, Connor wakes to the sound of a shower running. Oddly, the sound wasn't especially muffled, as it should since the shower was in the next room. As it turns out, through very little investigation, whomever was taking a shower (which was most likely the currently missing Sheil) had left the door to the room just slightly ajar, letting steam flood into the bedroom at a surprisingly high rate. If this kept up, the whole bedroom would be smoked out in a few minutes!

How could anyone take a shower that hot...?

@BytheSpleen

The Jester smiles to himself as Iosef rides away - a sinister, creepy smile, watching as the figure fades into the distance. "Now, aren't you an interesting one, hmm...~? Ehehe! I'm curious as to your reasons for fighting. They appear selfish, and yet you care enough to save a small town from a small army? My, aren't you interesting~?"

'I think I'll watch him a little more...!'

Iosef enters the kingdom under the presence of the night sky. The travelling had lead him to a small town on the edge of a large lake, which shimmered in the moonlight. It seems like a rather peaceful place, though strangely, many people were out and about during the night. It was almost like the entire village slept during the day, or not at all! Vampires? Perhaps. Though it was unlikely he'd found an entire village of them. Even so, the town of night-walkers buzzed as though it would during the day, bustling as people go about their lives.

Connor stands up and grabs his clothes, pulling on his shirt, jacket and greaves while walking slowly to the bathroom. "Bloody hell, that water must be fucking scalding! How the hell can you stand it?" He asks whoever it was taking the shower, waiting for their response.

Maryvale did not feel fear - saying so is a violation of standard roleplay rules would mean she was not worthy in the eyes of the Grand Marshal. Instead, she called this feeling... awareness. The body's innate ability to detect insurmountable danger and perceive it as such was such a wonderful ability, because it gave her thought of what to do.

Of course she couldn't run; running was out of the question for all of them. After all, they were doing this for the Grand Marshal. If they weren't willing to sacrifice themselves for his cause, they were better off dead. She expected no less from her small team of capable warriors. Besides, she had three trump cards that Death's Best Friend might not have considered. Even if he was strong and wielding the strongest of the Universal Blades, he still had to deal with a dragon, Anna's bow, and Maryvale herself with her own blade, Dark Vibrance. Like Hell she was going to lose to death, after coming so far, surviving so long...

"So you've come," spoke Maryvale in her own set of midnight black armour, "it certainly took you long enough, Midnight the Eternal." She speaks with a complete and total level of calm and authority. She was projecting control through her behaviour - something her team mates would need if they were to stand up to the person before them, who was essentially a demi-god.

She draws her own blade slowly. In comparison to Darkstalker, Dark Vibrance could only deal a fraction of it's power if it sapped all of Maryvale's strength. However, the blade itself was tough; so much so, in fact, it could hold it's own in a simple sword fight against any of the Universal Blades and likely endure just as much damage as they would. It was magic that was the real problem, since Maryvale's blade wasn't capable of retaining it's own power like the other weapons. Even so, they had their other two trump cards for that. "I hope you're ready to return to the afterlife, Midnight. Or, better yet, The Void - it would suit you quite nicely, wouldn't it?"

She quickly glances at her comrades to see if they were ready to fight, without losing focus of the armoured man before her.

As the great Orc enters the inn, he's greeted in a rather... impolite manner. It appears those inside were startled by his presence and the fact it shook the entire building, and as such were just slightly pissed. Especially those who had just been awoken from a good night's rest by some asshole demanding to hand over their new sword...

"Dude, what da fuck?!" Exclaims a young man with a sword, who was accompanied by who looks to be his twin brother. Well, the two were alike enough to be twins, anyway. "Can you NOT? I haven't even had my coffee, yet!"

"Riz, I don't think talking to the Orc man who just shook the entire building by appearing from nowhere is a smart idea..." His brother replies, resting a hand on his brother's shoulder. He looks towards the Orc with kind eyes, though a bit inquisitive. "Excuse me, sir? Mind toning it down for the folks here? I'd rather not have a fight start out in such a nice inn." He speaks calmly and with a bit of an accent. A naive country boy, maybe, but not as naive as his brother. "You're looking for a swo-"

"He's looking for this..." Their own Orc friend speaks in a low tone that seems almost like a growl, as he turns around, revealing the Demon Sword. "But just because he wants it, doesn't mean he can have it..." The Orc grins smugly. He was definitely one of the stronger Orcs around... and perhaps the only one aside from the Watcher, himself, and the barista.

@Simple Unicycle

Well, there was only one person sharing the room with him, so assumptions could be made as to who it was. Though, the fact nobody replied would likely be a little unnerving...

... Especially as the water that trickled out the doorway turned red...

As though a bad situation couldn't get any worse, what sounds like a thunder strike emits from just outside the inn, sending a powerful shock wave throughout that rattles the building (and the ears) for a few moments. A few seconds later, there's shouting downstairs. Rather hostile shouting, from the sounds of things.

It must've been a Monday. The worst shit always happens on a Monday.

"I have not come to fight, human." Midnight says, his tone as emotionless as ever. "You need to stop this, or the entire world will be thrown off balance, there will be too much death and not enough life, heed me when I'm saying this, you, taking even one Universal Weapon to your master would mean the end for many species." Maryvale could sense no hostility coming from the being, though such an elder being would most likely learn to mask it's intent.

"If I had ill meaning towards this world, I would have used Darkstalker as soon as my master had passed back to her realm. Or better yet, I would have tried to summon my master again. I wish to keep this world in balance!"

---

"Ah, I'm sorry, my good friend... it's just that sword." He says pointing at the orc's sword. "That sword, if not wielded by a skilled and sane warlock, it will unleash archdemons and hell knights... and I do not think you wish to know how much of a pain to defeat they are." He says.

"Anyway, orc, that sword please, before you destroy everything in a 25 mile radius... and this beautiful little inn as well.

No... No, bad shit always happens to Connor on Thursdays. He was almost eaten by cannibals on a Thursday, he was attacking by a wyvern rider on a Thursday, his best shield was stolen on a Thursday... Fucking Thursdays. Anyhow, Connor debates with himself whether to run into the bathroom and see if Shiel is alright or to run out and greet whomever it was shouting at him.

After about a minute or so, Connor decides to run in and check on Shiel, expecting the worst.

There was blood. That was the first thing Connor saw. Though not an especially large amount, it was still a decent size as far as blood stains go, as though someone had made a swift and precise slash to the skin, letting it splatter onto the wall as though to show their prize. Sheil, as expected, was nowhere to be found within the room. The scorching hot shower, likely using the help of magic, was still running, mixing with the fresh blood as it drips to the floor, turning the water to a translucent shade of pink. There were obvious signs of struggle, however it was only in small amounts. Aside from the blood, the cracked shower window and the hotel's shower products scattered over the floor, it looks mostly the same. Strangely enough, the window wasn't open, either...

The shouting below had ceased, at least for the moment. One could swear they heard the sound of Riz down there, somewhere. Just what was going on?

@BytheSpleen

The man is old, but appears kind. Judging by his attire, he seems to be a farmer, though what he farms is up for debate. "Hmm? Oh, an outsider? You'll probably want the place where they sleep at night, huh?" He laughs, as though an untold joke had just been mentioned. Somehow. "There are two inns here: the Moonlight and Daylight Inns. One's owned by one of us, a night-walker - the other is owned by his little brother, who likes sunshine. You're going to want the Moonlight Inn. Can't miss it; there's a big crescent moon on the front, so you shouldn't be wandering too far. If it's any help, they're both on opposite sides at the centre of town." The farmer points in the direction of the centre of town and nods. "No need to thank me, just stay safe!" He chuckles and turns, walking away...

Well, now he had a place to go - a place to stay.

@Claw2k11

"That is none of my concern." Maryvale states simply, staring straight at the wielder of Darkstalker, feeling confidence well in her slightly. However, she wouldn't let her confidence consume her. A level head was key to success in a battle - that was the first thing her teacher, the Grand Marshal of the Human Kingdom, taught her. "I find your misuse of the Universal Blade pathetic, Midnight the Eternal. To think, such a renowned being such as yourself for the deaths of many be concerned with a thing such as balance is pathetic - a disgrace to the wielders of Universal Blades. Unless, of course, you're lying."

She grins from beneath her helmet. Tormenting those who seemed so much stronger than herself never ceased to satisfy. "Or maybe you're scared? Has Darkstalker's power frightened you, Midnight? Hmph. To be afraid is foolish, too, you know. Just like your perceptions on 'balance'. If things were truly balanced, do you think we'd be standing here right now? Would these blades even exist at all? Keeping such a thing around is pointless, as equality and opportunity should only be given to those who've earned it or are gifted with potential. Slavery, crime, even death in it's most basic form is an act against equality. The only place equality truly exists is The Void, where nothing exists in the first place."

"Now, if you're done making yourself look like a damned fool, please, make this easier for all of us and hand over Darkstalker. Otherwise, we'll be taking it from you." She warns.

"Thanks, but no thanks. I'll be holding onto the almighty toothpick awhile longer, thanks." The Orc replies with a grin. He was starting to act... different from just a second ago. It was quite possible he was in the midst of developing mental fracturing: an insane state of sorts where the wielder displays no sense of logic or reason, and grows an unnaturally high level of violent behavior.

After all, the Watcher had already seen this happen before to a friend, a little over two years ago. Though, in all technicality, he already was insane to begin with...

"I had hoped that even fanatics like you could be made to see reason, but alas, it seems I was wrong and such a pity really, your power could have been used to make the world a better place... pity."

And with that, a massive surge of energy grows within Midnight and Darkstalker, though Maryvale could realize that this was only a fragment of Midnights powers. Around the group dozens upon dozens of black armored beings appeared, they had no souls... the infamous Death Knights.

"I'll let you all make a move first..."

---

"Ah dear, not this again..." He says. "I assume you don't know who I am, boy." He says to the orc. "I ask one last time of you, hand over the sword before I make you hand it over!" He shouts, placing one of his hands on the hilt of his battleaxe

The inns were very... contrasting. One looked very much like a gloomy cemetery under the moon, and the other a sunny festival by the sun. Thankfully inside his inn of choice wasn't as horrifying as it was out front. The theme was very reminiscent of Oblivion, the fictional land of purple and black said to be between the realms limbo and Hades. Aside from this, it all looked pretty standard; bar, patrons, rooms, all the normal stuff you could expect from an inn.

The bartender looks like a surprisingly regular guy, though. Big muscles, brown hair tied back into a small pony tail, with brown, shaven beard on his face. He looked like the kind of guy capable of dealing with trouble if it came knocking. It was probably good for business. The inn was quiet save for a few customers getting their last drinks in before falling asleep, and that one shifty looking guy in the corner who wasn't moving

@Claw2k11

"Hmph. Thank you for agreeing to your own demise. Anna?" She says, calling forth the Avian who flew above them, wielding the almighty bow. Said Avian pulls back on the strings of Anna repeatedly, firing a flurry of powerful beams of light. Due to Anna being a Universal Weapon, the Avian could accomplish this feat extraordinarily quickly. Added the fact she was one of the best bowmasters in the kingdom, and it was basically like having a machine gun to mow down the horde. Maryvale trusted in the Avian to utilise Anna as best she could to keep Midnight's forces off of them.

As the path clears, Maryvale makes her move, rushing forward with her blade and slicing through any creature that gets in her way, as does her comrades (except for the Rookie, as he was taking care of Anna somewhere further away). The aim was to create a straight path so that Maryvale could reach Midnight and begin the first stage of their plan - an arrowhead. 'I hope you're ready to face the strongest team in the human kingdom...'

The Orc smiles, and looks at the sword for a moment... before swinging it right at him, sending a shockwave of incredible power straight at Bronos. "Sorry, but it's not for sale." He says. "Unless you've got something to trade for it...?"

The arrows kill a lot of Death Knights there, but they weren't the toughest undead soldiers for nothing, some of them begins to shoot the avian with black corrupted flames while the rest charge at the group.

And as for Maryvale, she was the only one that reached Midnight, the rest were pinned down by the Death Knights. And Midnight was ready to fight her, she was up against one of the strongest beings in the world... no universe.

---

Bronos blocks the attack from the shockwave with ease and he didn't seem pleased. "Son, I have more power than you'll ever comprehend, now give me that sword, or I'll show you why I have become the Watcher of War!" He was angry and he would attack if the orc wouldn't peacefully hand over the sword.

"A night's stay, 'ey?" The bartender asks in a voice softer than one might expect of his stature, sounding quite like your stereotypical leprechaun. "How much you got, lad? Ha!" The man laughs heartily, though calms himself quickly. "The usual, one-night room-stay pays a small fortune of five gold pieces, lad. Ain't got that? I'm open to payment in other ways - servin' time in the kitchen, cleanin', gettin' me game, that kind of stuff."

@Claw2k11

And she was perfectly fine with that. All the others had to do were keep the Death Knights distracted. At least for now. She wasn't trying to kill one of the strongest creatures in the universe by any means, just steal his sword. Unlike the former of those two options, that latter could be achieved with one lucky swing...

And so, Maryvale begins her assault by attempting to engage Midnight in close quarters combat, to see if he would be willing to take her challenge. 'Come on, Midnight the Eternal... Let's fight...'

She wasn't the Grand Marshal's only pupil for nothing...

Maryvale dodges, them being some distance apart giving her the ability to do so, though not without some effort. She was happy. Darkstalker was living up to it's name.

"That's all well and good, so long as the sword continues to bond with you. I know a lot about the Universal Weapons, and I can tell you this much: I was raised to wield Darkstalker, and it will accept me as much as it would accept you. But of course, if that fails... well, it's not a god, but who's to say I don't have something of similar power with me?"

Maryvale smirks beneath her helmet before rushing forward, swinging her blade upwards towards Midnight from the ground, so to better anticipate his block and allow time for her to take a step back and attack again. Of course, she made sure to keep aware of if he were preparing a slash at her instead, and thus keeps her mind focused solely on him so to avoid it if necessary.

"Blood," mutters the half-awake Connor, "that can't be good." An empty shower that once had a young elven woman inside, blood presumably from said elven woman, and a struggle. That's just the recipe for disaster. Connor stumbles out the door and grabs his gear, snapping his sheath onto his belt and running downstairs to bring it to his party's attention that Sheil was missing and quite possibly dead... Then he saw the other orc, talking with Kin'Kro.
"The bloody fucking hell is going on here?" Shouts Connor, now wide awake due to the scene in the bathroom. "Sheil is fucking missing or dead and you're discussing what you're gonna do with that godforsaken sword of yours? Fucking disgraceful!"

"Because I was born to wield it." Maryvale replies as she sends a blast of dark energy his way through a swing of her sword. "I am what you would call 'chosen'. The Grand Marshal said so himself - I have the power to tame this beast, like how the Devil himself tamed the mighty beast of Cerberus. They say the swords have souls, and I can already tell my soul is perfectly aligned with Darkstalker. However, I will not succumb to it's power - I will prevail, and I will control it."

She was determined to control Darkstalker. If she didn't have the strength, she certainly had the willpower.

The bartender looks a little surprised, then smiles. "Aye, it just so 'appens I do." He replies before handing over the appropriate amount of change in gold coins, as well as his room key. "Room number and directions are on the key. Shouldn't be too hard to find."

@Simple Unicycle

"Wait, Sheil's gone?!" Exclaims Riz, shocked. "Oh, fuck this! We gotta go find her ASAP!" He almost storms right out of the place in search of her, though Tiz holds him back by the collar.

"Sheil's gone...?" Tiz asks in a calm though worried tone. "What do you mean by 'possibly dead'? What happened?"

Kin'Kro grunts and sheathes the sword, apparently reverting to himself, though only the other Orc may realise it. With a grunt he folds his arms. "We'll talk later." He says to the other Orc, before listening to what Connor and the rest had to say.
