Professor Cedar stood a few feet away from the glass doors of the lab, anxiously awaiting the new trainers. Her light brown hair that usually fell to her shoulders, was tied up in a somewhat messy bun, decorated with all sorts of dazzling hair clips. He hands were clasped behind her back, shaking slightly as she looked through the doors into the outside where Estoria city bustled, filled with car horns and people talking, and the smells of various foods.

Her assistant Layla, sat at a desk in a white T-Shirt and black jeans. Her long bluish-black hair was messily swept to one side. She didn't look anxious or excited about the new trainers arriving. She didn't really look like she felt anything at all, as her face was painted with a rather vacant expression as she looked at a clock on the wall, probably counting down the time until she left. Her black shades rested atop her head, leaving her steel gray eyes visible.

Alex, sat at a small table, in the corner of the lab, unnoticed by Layla, or his mother. His eyes occasionally drifted to the neat row of Pokeballs , accompanied by Pokedexes on a table next to the professor. He tapped his fingers on the table, as he awaited the trainers, and his wonderful Pokemon.

Giant waves crashed upon the rocks of an unknown beach. Two men stood next to each other, staring out into the ocean. The first man spoke,

"We should get back to the base soon, high tide is coming, and the boss won't want us to be late. You know how he is when we're late. The man that spoke, looked to the other main for a reply. The man just gazed into the sky, taking his time to respond.

"Yes, but the boss won't be mad if we told him we found a rift. He will reward us more if we find out that the rift does actually move, and soon, all three will be directly above their ruins. We shall wait til nightfall before returning. You shal see, the rifts are here." The man continued to look up at the sky, as if it will appear soon and didn't want to miss it. The first man glared at him, but stayed patient, clear that the second man knew what he was talking about.

They moved like they had somewhere to be.

Praxis and Carna were no strangers to walking within cities. One had to keep a strong demeanor and walk briskly, or risk getting haggled. If they looked out of place, they might as well be putting targets on their backs. They had arrived within Estoria to meet the pokemon professor of the Fordis region. Starting their journey would be difficult, but it was something they had wanted to do for ages. No one could stop them now. They refused to be deterred from their many goals. Praxis clutched Carna's hand with one of his own, making sure not to lose her within the thick crowds.

Eventually, they came upon the pokemon lab. Praxis weaved his way through the crowd, taking the lead until they reached the glass doors, which automatically slid open for them. A crooked grin plastered on his face, Praxis stepped forward, gaze moving from the professor, to the two other individuals in the room. From the looks of it, it seemed as though he and Carna were the first ones to arrive.

"Looks like we're the early birds." The blond young man gazed over at the pokeballs lined up, looking quite intrigued. Carna followed his gaze, but did not speak up. She remained silent due to pure shyness.

Marieka arrived in Estoria City with all the confidence in the world; which slowly diminished as she walked through the city towards the Pokemon Lab.

She had no clue what she was doing. Why was she trying to become a Pokemon trainer? Chasing a childhood dream on a whim? She’d never even left her hometown until now.

Marieka took a deep breath and shifted the strap of her messenger bag so that it was sitting more comfortably on her shoulder. She could do this. She was a 19-year-old young woman who knew how to survive and knew how to be strong. And in order to gain experience in any facet of life, you first had to start at the beginning.

She turned in a circle, trying to figure out if she was still going in the right direction. Her map said to go north of where she was; but what if she was holding it upside down? Marieka struggled with the piece of paper for a moment; trying to figure it out and hoping that she wasn’t making it too terribly obvious that she wasn’t particularly familiar with this city.

Finally, she made it the lab and slipped inside just as things were starting up.

Edgar had the Pokemon Lab in sight. He clutched the strap of his messenger bag. He was anxious . He came here on a whim, a desperate and albeit unimportant whim. He needed to see the point in this journey, and right now, it's something to do and find something in it all to accomplish by the end of it.

Estoria seemed nothing like the cities in Unova. In Edgar's opinion Estoria was more hustle and bustle compared to something like Castelia's vibrancy. The lab was nearer, and he grew excited. He wondered about the region itself, what the professor was like, what the trainers and gym leaders were like, etc. There was so much to uncover.

At 18 years old, Edgar felt a bit old to be starting this all now. He'd heard great stories about past champions of Unova from his dad and those exploits being as impressive as they were, Edgar wanted some stories of his own. He was determined to make them. Lost in thought he noticed the lab was now just down the street. He sped his pace and arrived at the door.

As Edgar entered, there were already five people inside. "Are we waiting on anyone else?" he asked, eager to begin his story.

"No, I don't think we are. Let's get started then, shall we?" Professor Cedar smiled to the trainers, giving off a positive tone in the room. She walked over to the table, and called their names, gesturing to the Pokeball, Pokedex, and two crates under the table, one, with a Pokenav v.7 and the other overflowing with pokeballs, labeled, take five.

"Alex.... Praxis... Carna... Marieka... Edgar." When his name was called, Alex walked up to the table, and grabbed the necessary items, clipping the pokeballs to his belt. He had everything, he was ready to go, but didn't know what to do. He didn't want to leave so early, but he also wanted to start off on his adventure. He gulped in anxiety, and walked to the door, but then turned around. He waved at his mom, and walked out the door. The cold air of the outside greeted him, as well as the thousands of wonderful smells coming from the various restaurants. He walked down the street, not knowing where to go, when he heard a crash from an alleyway. The sound was loud enough to attract the people bustling down the street, and to reach the lab. The next second, someone was hurled from the alley, and a person in black pants, a black coat, as well as a black hat emerged from the alleyway and walked up to the man on the floor.

"Have the money by the end of the week... Or else." The man the stomped on the man's nose, and walked away, back down the alleyway. Without thinking, Alex ran after him, shouting to try and get his attention. He hoped the noise would have alerted the others, and get their interest so they saw him go down the alleyway, if it didn't... He was in big trouble.

Having finally received everything she needed to start her Pokemon journey, Marieka was feeling excited and a little bit nervous. She had butterflies in her stomach, but they were the good kind of butterflies. As she made her way outside, she heard shouting and the sounds of running feet.

Marieka was suddenly a little frightened, but she squared her shoulders and followed the noise to discover a man lying injured on the ground.
“Oh my goodness. Are you all right?” she asked, kneeling down beside him. She glanced up just in time to see one of the young men who had been at the lab with her. He was running down a darkened alleyway. Hopefully he wasn’t the one who had hurt this man.

“Someone help!” she called out as loudly as she could. Maybe one of the other new trainers would be able to give this man medical assistance or follow after that boy to see what was going on. She couldn’t do both at the same time. For now, she lifted the man’s head off the ground slightly, to keep the blood from his nose flowing in a downward direction, instead of up into his sinuses.

Edgar clipped his new Pokeball, with his new partner inside, to his belt. Stepping outside, he heard a call for help. It was one of the new trainers, Marieka, tending to an injured man on the ground. Edgar went to her side and flagged down a few people on the roadside to call for medical help. He saw another of the new trainers, Alex far down the alley where Edgar guessed the attack took place. Edgar supposed he was giving chase to the attacker.

Edgar quickly ran back to the lab and opened the doors to get the message out "Someone's been attacked outside! Marieka's tending to the victim, medical help should be on their way, I'm going after Alex, I think he's going after the attacker!" With that, Edgar bolted after Alex. He hoped Squall (his new Squirtle) would be up for this kind of task if he needed to be called out. Edgar could barely reason why he was helping, but he knew his right and wrong. He knew he could help in this case of a seemingly random assault. Edgar was right, that man's attacker was wrong.

The alleyway was definitely longer than he thought, but he was catching up to Alex.
